Yea I was gonna message you about that vike's logo.. That logo is nice

On the cowboys, I was seriously going to take them but as you said I couldn't find legitimate way of making it work without cutting romo which is completely unrealistic

If they give the Cowboys an extra June 1st cut it won't be that bad.  You'd still be looking for a few minimum contracts in free agency and basically focusing on the draft, but that's still alright I'd think.  They're going to June 1st Brandon Carr and Miles Austin, if not more, in free agency, and they can get under in the mock if they're allowed to do that.  I don't think it's that big of a deal, the Cowboys cap situation should definitely qualify as extenuating circumstances.

where did u get that from.

I think his Raiders logo is really cool too, but I think they're logo now is really stupid looking so maybe I'm a bit biased.

The Saints will find a way to keep Graham but losing De La Puente and Strief (who I think is overrated but still above replacement level) will hurt. The young guys on the defense should improve and they can free up a ton of cap space by cutting Will Smith and his absurd contract.

I haven't done the math, but if he goes to arbitration or whatever it's called for a higher tag I'm guessing they can't afford him.  He has a better case than Pitta because Pitta gets flexed out in the slot.  Graham is actually used as an outside and even as an iso receiver.

Receiving team it is 0 stars. Sending team gets minus whatever stars.

Not exactly, the receiving team still takes on the base salary.

So just for clarification, if I trade someone away I will save Cap Figure - Dead Money?

And if I trade for a guy I take on his base salary?

Correct.

In some cases, cap figure - dead money may equal a negative number, meaning that the person trading the player must take on more stars that they already have tied into that player.  In all trades, the acquiring team will only take on base salary.

No. Base salary still counts for the receiving team.

I have heard 3 different answers to this question:

1. The receiving team gains negative stars. As in, the receiving team actually gains cap space by acquiring the player.

2. The receiving team gets the player at 0 stars.

3. The receiving team pays base salary.

The CoCo needs to come to a conclusion on this before the trade market opens up.

Trade discussions have been taking place through PM but shouldn't be public until everyone has a team. After everyone has picked, one of the CoCo will post a thread where we can post trades.

Yeah I have talked to only 2 GMs through PM but only 1 of those knows who I'm not willing to trade and knows who I would trade. So since we can't make them public yet, if anyone is interested in any Jets players PM me and I'll let you know who is and who isn't available.

The answer is 3. Base salary (technically roster bonuses too) are taken on by the new team.

Ok. I'm just wondering if this is agreed upon by CoCo because all 3 answer that I have gotten have come from a different member of the CoCo. I'm sure you can understand my concern about this.

Well this is the correct answer. Maybe the others didn't understand the question.

Gotcha, it is certainly the answer that makes the most sense to me. I'll adjust my excel sheet.

There shouldn't have to be an agreement between the CoCo on that.  That is how the salary cap works.  I know we bend the rules a bit, but the acquiring team taking on the base salary is always how it works.  The trading team takes on the signing bonuses from the current and future years.  As gabe said, roster bonuses are technically taken on by the acquiring team, but for the sake of simplicity, it's probably easier just to use base salary.

I just posted an updated Rules thread, that hopefully clarifies some areas of confusion. If you have any questions regarding the rules, please take a look. If you still have questions come back here and I will try to explain.

so it's the one trade/cut "no dead money cap hit" still available?

let's say i trade suggs... will i get the one time bonus... and then whoever picks him pays the base salary (plus any bonuses)

That's not how it works. Suggs is probably a bad example because he is in the last year of his contract anyway, but in no way does the team receiving a player take on more than the base salary.

The special cut rule just applies to the team trading/ cutting a player as a way to save some extra cap if there is a lot of dead money associated with the contract.

Only 6 more to pick (excluding Clutch), and I know at least 4 of them have been particularly active in this thread.  Let's hope we can catch the other guys at an opportune moment.

Got my state of the franchise and depth charts up---See depth chart for guys I am attempting to trade. I will be honest, look at their caps first so you know what you may be getting into.

While the Steelers cap sucks--I am at -4.5 stars--they really are an easy fix for being in a decent cap spot. Did not know they traded their third to the browns though, what a terrible move
