CB Jimmy Smith making San Francisco 49er fans real bitter!

Crabtree initiated contact before doing his cut and after 5 yds. Illegal.

I don't know why I'm remembering so differently after seeing that video, but the initiated contact between the two was legal

The initiated contact did happen within 5 yds.Have to take the hit there but it was still a great no call.

It absolutely was. I don't see a single scenario where they could or would call that

Still think the bigger play was him lighting up Crabtree and forcing him to drop the ball after he had essentially caught it on Graham at the 2 yard line or so.  He doesn't do that and Gore/Kaepernick run that read option for a TD quite easily the next play.

So true. He made a number of big plays that night but that the most impressive in my opinion. Recognized the pass, broke off his original coverage and decked Crabtree to separate him from the ball. Great play.

Anything that could ever happen, happens in some parallel universe (many worlds theory)

there are BILLIONS of parallel universes where the 49ers beat the Ravens in Super Bowl 47. In some of those parallel universes, the 49ers beat the Ravens 76-0 in Super Bowl 47

Heck there are universes where the Ravens won 8 games COMBINED between 2007-2014

There are also BILLIONS of parallel universes where the 49ers beat the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game last week and went on to win Super Bowl 48. In some of those universes, the 49ers beat the Seahawks 62-7

There are even parallel universes where the Seahawks went 0-16 from 2001-2015.

It all started on 3rd down in the superbowl.

(My personal favorite play in Ravens SB history)

seeing him show some emotion after he popped that ball out of his hands. that was a hell of a play and the jimmys been all uphill since then.

another year and sherman might quiet down some knowing hes not the best anymore.

Didn't Crabtree say he went blind for a min after that hit ?

here is another one.  Step by step, frame by frame.

It doesnt get better than this link.

I saw that one last year, and it's a really good series that shows it was more Crabtree than Jimmy.

And besides, if I'm a 9ers fan I'm more pissed at the OC (or Kap. Whoever called the plays on that last set of downs) than the refs. Gore and Kap had been gashing our defence on the ground, Ngata was out, and they tried the same stupid passing play four times in a row.

Is there any stat websites that show Jimmy is elite cb? Common sense shows it when Calvin Johnson 3 catches 29 yards, josh Gordon 3 catches 44 yards Brandkn Marshall 4 catches for 42 yards, Aj green 4 catches for 51 yards with that one td catch being elams fault. I'm looking for a place that says passer rating against him an targets etc

i know hes up near tops in the league when it comes to percentage targeted, and his numbers are just as elite looking against top receivers as they are against 2nd and 3rd wr's.

You can find that stuff on sites you have to pay for e.g. PFF, Football Outsiders.  I don't subscribe and I question their methods, but those are really the only places I know of.  The best I can tell you is NFL.com has things like INTs and PDef stats for CBs.  Jimmy is low in both, but that's really not a surprise - I don't know how you keep a stat for a position where the best players are routinely avoided being thrown at.

That's what happens when your team is always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

They are going to be in trouble here shortly though, they have about one or two years and it is going to get interesting in 49er land.

Yeah, I'm not going to say they're in the same situation with the same kind of people as the Jets, but the Jets made 2 AFCCGs in a row not too long ago, flash forward and it seems like every year they've been talking about Rex Ryan's job security, and they finally pulled the plug on Sanchez.  At some point, if they don't win it all, people are going to start questioning whether the team and coaches they have are the right guys for the job.

The best part is that it was a failed push off attempt by Crabtree. Jimmy Smith has a  big contribution in this franchise's history because of that goal line stand. Jimmy is a top 5 press corner and Kap played right into our hands by trying to beat an elite press cb stacked up on the goal line. I'll leave it at that, niners fans are miserable enough after today lol.
