Power Rankings Question

15 posts in this topic

I've noticed the steelers are like number three on almost every power ranking. So I've been wondering, if we beat them sunday, how far up will we climb and how far will they fall on the rankings? W'ere currently ranked aroudn ninth on the ones I've looked at.

I have a funny feeling they might fall like one spot and the analysts will chalk it up to "oh, they just had a bad game......."

I think a lot of it depends on a # of factors: Margin of victory, offensive/defensive production & performance, if any injuries occur, etc. I really don't see either team moving more than 3 spots in either direction short of an utter collapse. I think even if we win there's only a small chance of us breaking into the Top 5, but I think a Steelers loss should push them out of it. On the basis of us splitting our matchups, I don't think will will get pushed past them. If we go and beat the Cowboys in the following week, I think we could easily find our way into the Top 5 then.

I'm sayin, I don't be like complaining or anything, cuz I know how much certain people hate that here, its just that it seems that people still consider us a bad team, and if you can't get it going agaisnt us iether you're having a bad day or you're just bad. When really we just own and they can't admit it.

Portis leads the NFl in rushing (or is second, whatever) and he's getting shut down. *jim Zorn* "you're getting shut down by the ravens??? are you kiddin me clinton? Get in thier Laddel, surely you can rack up two or three hundred yards on these guys befor the games over, Clinton must just suck now."

I don;t care what the analysts say after we beat the Squeelers. We know how good our team is. This is the first thread that I have replied to this week that has not a Squeelers post. I'm sure they will be on this soon.

I see us jumping up in the top 5 but not too much further ahead unless the D shuts them down and Flacco and the receivers put up some serious offense.

Its hard to move up 3 spots, nevermind 4. If we win, the Panthers will move into the Steelers' Power Rankings #3 spot, since they are likely to run all over Denver's injury riddled defense. We aren't going to pass the Colts since they beat us head to head and they should annihilate Detroit without mercy. So lets say they move to #4. If the Bucs beat Atlanta in Atlanta, I think they have a strong case for #5, especially considering they are ahead of us as it stands now. Maybe we will move to #6 and the Steelers to #7. If the Bucs lose, then we might squeeze to #5, and the Steelers fall to #6, but I don't see us getting ranked any higher than that short of an absolute thrashing of Pittsburgh.

Most likely not that far just because they still beat us at home and we beat them at home.... They havnt won in Baltimore in I think 4or5 years.... So they are not going to drop and we will not climb...unless

you looking at a site which we are power ranked low... I have seen us at 7th overall in most power rankings which is great for when we started... dont forget not many thought we would win 6 games.

yeah, i remember...that's when i was convicted of 'drinking too much purple I need to find a new cliche' so-to-speak when i said we would have a 10-6 record this season  ...but anyways,
yeah, i guess you're right...but i would think that a person looking from the outside in, that they would find a raven win vs the top defense a surprise and they would rank us higher. personally, i think the ravens mix in with the top 5 teams.

Join the crowd! I never believe the team is as good or as bad as the "power rankings", gives the writers something to do.

I think it's fair enough to just say that most teams would probably prefer a game other than vs. us at M+T. I would take just about any game but that or on the road vs. the NYG.
