Gary Kubiak hired as Ravens Offensive Coordinator

275 posts in this topic

Kubes has nothing to do with the defense, so if there was a issue between the two it wouldn't matter. Kubes is a offensive coach, not the HC. Plus Ed has far too much respect around that building to not be hired because of another coach.

If he wanted the job and the Ravens were offering, it would happen.

The thing is,the little glimmer of hope I had in Ed coming back here is gone just because he wouldn't want to come here while Kubiak's here. Just my opinion...Even though they're on the different side of the ball they're still co workers. And as much as I love John (and this is just my opinion) I don't think he'd want Ed back regardless of what he says. But I don't know if that would be the case so there's my glimmer. With Kubiak on the staff I think that's gone.

Why wouldn't Harbs want Ed back? Did I miss something between them? Also, I don't think people hold grudges in the NFL as much as us fans want to believe. Ed Reed has a habit of speaking his mind, beit right or wrong. Whatever may or may not be between Kubes and Ed wouldn't keep either guy from doing their job imo.

I think your glimmer of hope should be lost in the fact that Ed still wants to play football not coach. I think Ed would be a hellava coach, but I don't think it'll be anytime soon.

Never mind me. I go with my gut and it senses something between the two lol :P and yeah I agree with you saying my hope is lost because he still wants to play. I still can't get my head wrapped around that though.

@JasonLaCanfora: Strange saga with Cowboys staff - they bring in Linehan but deny requests from Browns and Ravens to interview Callahan for their OC jobs.

Forget you Jerry jones. Only for the principle of it.

I wouldn't want him anyway. He's a good oline coach, but a terrible playcaller and HC for that matter. I couldn't imagine Callahan would want to stay there with Lienahan hired.

I want to be the first to apologize to John Harbaugh.

Nobody saw this coming. One day I'll learn to stop believing the media about the Ravens. They're like the freaking FBI. They reveal nothing.

As a Ravens fan you should never believe what the media has to say about your team.  Just sit back and let them do what they do! So...... :th_snapoutofit:

Salary cap. Would you choose pitta/monroe over jacoby?

Considering how strapped we are at cap ?..@ the end, thats pretty much what it comes down to.

I believe that if and once Gary Kubiak turns our offense in a top ten one, then he will be offered head coaching jobs. We might not be able to keep Gary Kubiak for more than one season. Just look at Jim Caldwell after he turned our offense for a magical run in the playoffs last year.

So whatever happens, I hope Rick Dennison is next in command, unless he follows Gary Kubiak for a new team.

You all know the Ravens PR staff stays on this website for damage control.......

Their story checks out more than Prestons though.  Kubiak was not attached to a single OC job because he was waiting for a HC job.  He waited for the dust to settle.  Joined the ravens.  No reason to believe the ravens would contact Kyle Shanahan before Kubiak

We are the Texans offense....can't wait season to start....

Scrub Shaub can shine in Texans offense so any QB would shine in it; top premier QB will even benefit from it...

The only thing that might allow us to hold onto Kubes is he's getting good money from us and just falls in love with being a Coordinator again. He was definitely looking for a HC job so I have no doubt that'll be the case again. But he might actually fall in love with the situation he has here already and get picky about who he coaches for again. I'm really reaching at straws here, cause I would love to see him stay 3+ years to really install thiss offense and allow the players to master it.

He could wait for the right opportunity here as opposed to the first opportunity. I guess we'll find out in a year. If we get back to the Super Bowl we won't have to worry about it.

Any word on the new coaches search? We need wide receiver and running backs coaches. Pulling for the running backs coach from Washington and the wide receivers coach from Dallas

I heard he was really hurt by not getting the job of the ravens OC! so it was meant to happen.

yeah so he's going to the bills.

Dont get me wrong, we hit the jack pot with kubiak. But if we hit the top 10 in offense this year he's leaveing to get a HC job the following year.

idk about that he signed a 3 year deal. but i think he's more of a OC than a HC just like Caldwell is a HC not a OC. plus from what i heard in the presser he wants to be here for a min.

Got 3 Texans coaches but we don't have that o-line or Andre Johnson...or chemsitry.

I'm expecting success and a ton of improvement, but I'm not expecting a top 10 offense only 1 season after that mess.

But I do expect a COMPETENT offense.

Now that Hostler's gone and we now have a competent OC, I'm much more optimistic about any WR we'd draft now.

As am I.  Then again, have the Texans really developed anyone other than Andre?  I'm assuming we're adding their old guy.
