Gary Kubiak hired as Ravens Offensive Coordinator

Hmmm I wonder what does this mean for Hostler? I know he really wanted the  offensive coordinator job and it probably hurts to be passed up twice by outside guys like Caldwell and Kubiak for the offensive coordinator position.

The scheme works extremely well in 11 and 12 personnel, especially if your second TE can block in the backfield and if your third WR can block safeties well. It works very well in the 21 as well, but I think Kubiak's scheme works best with 12 personnel, the second TE being a move guy.

I would actually bet on Leach getting cut. Juice is the perfect FB/TE for this offense, if his blocking gets better

I'm putting it at 50-50 because Leach clearly has a good working relationship with Kubiak.  The only reason we stole him from the Texans is we outbid them.  I don't think he had a good season though.  It would have been tough with the OL issues, but I think he was subpar in blocking as well.

Anywhere I can watch this, was workings all day and night and missed it

I'm sure they'll post it later today, but it was mostly coach speak.  Not that you'd expect anything different.  Kubiak said all the right things.

Sounds like Dennison is really the assistant OC rather than a QB coach.

That's basically what I heard as well... I spent time with the QBs I know how Kubiak wants the offense to run from a total point I'm here to work that.

Sounds like the assistant OC to work out the kinks perhaps communicate more with players.

Yeah he must've edited it. The format was completely different with RT lined up to the left of WR1 lol

Ah I gotcha, and yeah that would've been pretty funky haha.

Juice is literally made to play in this scheme.  Its going to be interesting watching him motioning all over the place in and out of different positions.  We'll finally get to see what scouts saw in him at least.

Could Garrett Graham be in our plans perhaps? He's a FA. Not sure how much money he'll get but I think Houston wants him back. It might be getting too Texany but would it be surprising?

Maybe OT Ryan Harris as well.

It'll be on the site later today, like how that State of the Ravens video went up.

Not going to lie, this is starting to look very good far as the coaching staff goes. Need to see how well we draft & what players we keep, looks like we're going back to running the ball more.

@MoveTheSticks: It will be interesting to see how the Ravens rebuild their offensive line in the offseason. Kubiak's scheme calls for more athleticism.

Daniel Jeremiah just tweeted what I was thinking. Anyone think K.O. moving to RT would be better for the line? Draft an athletic guard early and pray?

If Rick Wagner steps up for us it would be monumental. O-line is my biggest concern for this offseason.

As long as we run the ball efficiently I'm good with running the ball. I love that these moves will add more creativity but I hope we let Joe control it.

I'm not sure Garrett Graham is really a difference maker.  We're cap strapped, Ozzie has to pick value veterans very carefully.

I'm sure the 3 new coaches will be lobbying for him. Just food for thought. I'm not lobbying for it, nor am I against it, but I rather use our first 3 picks on OL & WR if it meant resigning Pitta and signing Graham. He'd fit the new system perfectly I'd imagine while also filling one of our needs.

I like how Kubiak emphasized that HARBAUGH is the one who initiated talks and wanted to make everything work. Kubiak must be another one of his BFF

I don't think he would cost as much or come with the same expectations as they did. Just might be smart since he's knows the system right away and contribute more than Dickson has.

Kubiak: Jacoby is like one of his own children.

That's great news, just maybe this is what could keep Jacoby here.

All for this. I am a huge proponent of keeping jones. He is a game changer. Not easily replaced. Hopefully we can avoid a bidding war of any kind.

What is this motioning thing you speak of? How does it work? Is it some type of new formation? Also how does a offensive player work out of different positions? I thought they were supposed to just stay in one spot and wait for the ball to be snapped.

FB, HB, TE, slot receiver. If his blocking gets better, I agree he is suited to this offense. The FB needs to be versatile.

It means we get to run go routes at different distances from the o-line. I'm excited about the possibilities already.

Honestly, it will be pretty weird seing motion when the Ravens have the ball...aside from the false start illegal kind we seem to be pretty good at.
