Gary Kubiak hired as Ravens Offensive Coordinator

Everything is not rainbows and butterflies but Mike Preston is not gospel, either

I don't read Mike Preston, so... yeah.  The Sun on the whole is a joke outside of Aaron Wilson, who does the best job covering the Ravens out of anyone.

went to bed thinking it was shanahan woke up to kubiak

Bit like going to bed with Kate Upton and waking up the next morning to find out it was Kristen Bell.  But I was really high on Shanahan.  Still am.  It's unfortunate it doesn't look like we'll be able to add him to the coaching staff, but I don't think Harbs likes guys of his ilk.  Kubiak seems like a much more laid back guy.  In all honesty, that might actually be a better fit for Joe.

He pimps the Harbaugh buddy/ego rhetoric harder than anyone. Wilson is by far the best Ravens coverage you will get, totally agreed.

Sounds like Dennison is really the assistant OC rather than a QB coach.

Exactly. It's more about Kubiak and Dennison being able to continue to work together.

This changes a lot imo. We now have a guy who knows how to use Juice. We are probably getting Winston to be a RT. Monroe is defiantly coming back. Pitta is still a toss up but I think we retain him. Still think we can't afford Jacoby.

So we got (as weapons)

Juice

Torrey

Brown

Pitta

Meaning We will probably do something along the lines of this

WR TE - LT-LG-C-RG-RT WR

QB

H-Back(Juice. Lines up as a blocker, slot WR, etc etc)

RB

That would be the wildest formation ever

and concentrate solely on offense. Sounds like a winner to me!

Gotta like it like that!

Kubiak and Dennison............No Shanahan!!!!

Hopefully Kubiak will contribute in the Draft Analysis.  He needs some input and we've not hit any jackpots recently.

@RavensInsider: "Ravens are expected to hire former Texans tight ends coach Brian Pariani as replacement for Wade Harman, according to sources"

Looks like the staff is continuing to shape up.

That's basically just the I-formation.

Yeah he must've edited it. The format was completely different with RT lined up to the left of WR1 lol

Great move and major props for the Ravens taking the necessary time to get it right. Kubes is well respected and what he's done for his players should have our plays very excited about the possibly. Didn't the Texans really want Marlon Brown last year? Just a random thought. Dennison said he spent lots of time in the QBs room in Houston and he knows exactly what Kubes wants from his QB, but it sounds like Kubes will be working directly with Joe and Dennison is kind of the assistant OC with the title of WR. I think Dennison might actually be like a OC in waiting. Sounds like he's Kubes right hand man and that's good when it comes to teaching the offense.

I loved the fact Harbs said we are building a Ravens offense. I think it's very important to have a consistent identity on offense as we've had for years on defense. Can't wait to see the type of talent Ozzie provides for Kubes. Even though Dennison is the QB, maybe he could give Gino some tips on how a guy like Meyers is able to thrive in the ZBS, being basically the same size. I think the entire oline should be better, Flacco and his WRs should be much better. This might be the perfect offense for Joe, but I'll save thaat for another thread.

I'm looking at the young talent on the offense and just how they could be used in this system and I think they all have to be excited. With the amount of screens and shallow crosses a stud like Johnson got to help him get easy passes, Torrey should be should be one of the happier players right now.

I'm going on and on because I'm just excited with this move.

Holy hell, we are the Baltimore Texans.

We must lure Andre Johnson and Watt over

See if we can get Clowney while we're at it.

Kubiak also like to use ZBS schemes and that should work well with Castillo. Those guys on the OLine are just gonna have to figger it out. Dennison as QB coach? They should just call him run game coordinator. Lol. I think of what Den had for a running game and Hou run attack and I like that thought.

Upgrade on the O-line and this could get good. Gary's gonna  have a lot more to work with as a Raven than he did in Texas. I know the have Andre Johnson and Arain Foster, but we still have a lot of moves to be made. If the line can keep Joe upright and give him time this will definitely be a plus. Ozzie, Ozzie!!

Very happy with how this turned out. A bit shocked to see Dennison as QB coach, but hey, it'll be aight. He's been around a long time and Kubiak is there to have it his way.

Arian Foster and Bernard Pierce are of the same mold. As well as Owen Daniels to Dennis Pitta. This should be a very easy transition for them

I read some rumors about the Texans considering moving Andre.  Just throwing that out there, but his cap hit is probably too big for us to deal with.

He's coming back then lol.

Suggs is probably gone then

Suggs is probably gone regardless.  We'll see if Pitta winds up coming back though.

Flacco might finally get 4,000 yards, 30 TD's like Schaub did back in 09-10. Luckily for us Joe has a better skill set. Unfortunately for us we won't have a Andre Johnson next season.

I don't think Leach is a guarantee to come back, but I think this puts his chances closer to 50-50 than they were before where it was basically guaranteed he'd be gone.  I believe you can run this scheme out of 12 or 11 personnel.

The scheme works extremely well in 11 and 12 personnel, especially if your second TE can block in the backfield and if your third WR can block safeties well. It works very well in the 21 as well, but I think Kubiak's scheme works best with 12 personnel, the second TE being a move guy.

I would actually bet on Leach getting cut. Juice is the perfect FB/TE for this offense, if his blocking gets better

Exactly. It's more about Kubiak and Dennison being able to continue to work together.

It's also about having another OC-in-waiting who knows Kubiak's system if/when Kubiak leaves for a HC position.

Dennison's hiring is as much about the future as it is about what the team needs now.

Overall, I'm pleased with both hirings, mainly because they're both proven and neither uses the Air Coryell.
