I Think Ryan Clark is Becoming a Good Analyst

38 posts in this topic

Okay!  It's an off season topic.  I can't stand the steelers...ugh! But I have to admit that I'm really enjoying watching Ryan Clark as a analyst on ESPN with First Take and then Numbers Don't Lie.  I think that he is doing a good job.

Agreed he is well spoken does not show a steeler bias he has been on nfl network before and I enjoyed it. He is equally frank about his own team as he is with others ,and he doesn't talk at you with the same old crap.

Cause I like it and don't blindly follow haters of the show.

As long as you acknowledge it's the lowest form of sports talk and that it's not journalism.

I personally like the show.  That's all I need to acknowledge Raven.  Now stop derailing the thread and comment about Ryan Clark as a analyst please!  LOL!!

There are only 3 football analysts on ESPN.  He is not one of them.  Additionally, if you're using a gossip show that makes up storylines as a basis for someone's ability to analyze a sport, there's a problem.

If you are taking "any" sports television show this serious, that's your problem.

How could anyone take anything on ESPN seriously? TMZ has more journalistic integrity than Skip Bayless.

Not arguing with you Raven cause we're cool and all but this is interesting to me cause one minute you are hating on First Take, then you say there are only 3 real analysts on ESPN, and now it's; "how could anyone take anything on ESPN seriously?"  You are all over the place with this stuff brah!  That is why I always do my own thing!

Apologies, when only 0.595238095% of your programming is actual analysis, and that only happens during football season, I just assumed most people could handle both statements being accurate.

The piece where he was talking about Sherman was insightful and interesting. Nice to read the class and objectivity of many fans in this thread who were able to take the colors out of it and make astute comments.

I agree Baro!  Clark was real refreshing to see on the show this week.  I've enjoyed watching and listening to his viewpoints.

i like First Take also. i dont agree with alot of what is said but i treat it like two guys giving their opinions. like if i was talking with people at a party about sports they usually say things i think are crazy but i still enjoy the conversation

I saw Clark on Nfl network I think it was just before we won  the superbowl and he was defending Flacco and making positive comments  about him .I was stunned and I think it was genuine not bs like Heath Evans he makes me want to punch him in the mouth  repeatedly.

After reading this article Mili, I have to agree with you.

http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=10413409

Clark voiced his opinion about weed.  He's not the first analyst to do so about a controversial subject and he won't be the last.  However, he did say that he doesn't personally smoke it nor would he even if the NFL legalized it.  But to his point; cats in the NFL are going to figure out ways around the drug testing and do it!

I think it's great that they're getting the insight of a current player. He can give a much more personal analysis of the NFL and what it's like.

He's very well spoken and intelligent. I dislike him when he plays, but I like him on ESPN

He thought he'd be cut and his career would be done w/ 2 years ago. I think he already prepared himself long time ago to step into a new career.

Clark is as surprised as anyone that his still around in the steelers organization with his hefty price tag he carries.

I'm with you Donte.  I don't always agree with everything that is said on First Take but I love the show.  Watch it daily!  And Clark has really impressed me man.  He is very thoughtful, reflective and well spoken and gives unbiased opinions and views on the topics discussed.  And as a sidenote; I love Stephen A. Smith man!  That cat cracks me up!  lol!

I like Suggs' appearances better :) Sherman and T-Sizzle really give it to Skip on First Take and I love it. BTW, I don't care how the song goes. "every word {is not} great." First Take is like the Jerry Springer Show of ESPN. It can be over the top ridiculous at times, but for some reason I feel compelled to tune in and watch it. I'd like to admit I do not watch it, but I'd be lying through my teeth. Ryan Clark is well spoken, I don't always agree with him, but he makes rational arguments that seem well thought out to defend his opinions.

I saw him on sports center with Mark Brunnell.  I couldn't stop laughing about Mark Brunell who kept on yabering on how he felt winning the super bowl as a back up.
