Study time (finals start tomorrow!)

I'll be sure to start using the message board frequently now that I see we have a strong community on here.

Lets Go Joe, FerrariFan; good talking with you guys.

Ravnet.... I know it sounds cruel but I hope to join the others in watching you eat your own words with a spoon (or maybe a spork! that would make it more interesting)
You have to be kidding me when you say "the refs didn't cost anyone the game"! Now I'm all for fairness, and refs should not be blamed, unless they blow calls that have a significant impact on the outcome of the game. The first call happened in the second quarter when the Ravens stopped the run on third down. The play was ruled a first down, which Harbaugh challenged, and despite various angles showing clear stoppage short of the first down marker, the call stood. The announcers were even shocked! That first down led the Steelers to a FG, which in this game is HUGE!

We've talked plenty about the final call, and regardless of wether you think it was fair or not, the call on the field was NO TD, which was overturned by review from the box. Couple that with the fact the Ravens lost their challenge, and what can you do? How can you win when refs will not give you a call, yet they'll reverse a controversial game-winning call in favor of the Steelers?

"Can't do it! Can't win with them, can't play with them, can't do it!"

I know that quote was about Vernon Davis, but I still think it applies!!!!
i see what your saying about that call

I do agree that that 3rd down challenge was wrong, the steelers shouldn't have won that one. But I also saw PLENTY of other infractions that were not called AT ALL that would have been huge for PGH. (Holds, a BLATANT pass interference), so there can be as much argument on the Steelers side of the ball. As for the refs not "giving" the ravens any calls, that's not what they're supposed to do...they're supposed to make the best call they can make for each play. And they did just that for the touchdown call. At first, they called it to the best of they're abilities (no TD). Then, after review, it was CLEARLY shown that the ball did break the front of the endzone, which is all it takes to be a touchdown. The bad call would have been to uphold the initial call on the field.
If we do end up making it to Tampa, or just making some kind of run in the playoffs, you will have no right to celebrate our accomplishments and I will gladly watch you eat your own words...
Your logic is absurdly off. Because I don't see this team as a contender, I automatically don't deserve to reap the benefits? So I should just be blindly optimistic and completely ignore the gaping holes that this team has? We haven't beaten a single hot team the entire damn season. Not one.

Fellas I was there......I mean RIGHT there, 4th row of the end zone where the final "score" took place........the so-called Squealers "TD". I was within 100-150 FEET of Holmes when he caught that ball. He caught the ball with his feet in the end zone, but the ball was outside the end zone, still in the field of play. He fell forward AWAY from the end zone, and from my view, the ball never broke the plane, and certainly didn't cross over into the endzone. The ref on the field got the call right: 4th and inches......I saw the replays, and I saw no conclusive evidence to overturn that call.

I am a die-hard Ravens fan, but I also a fair-minded person. If we lose a game because a better team beat us, I can accept the defeat. Much like Franchise said earlier though, I am still stewing over this so-called "loss" many hours after the game has been completed.

I really just feel like if a team's entire season of hard work can be sacrificed by some knucklehead in a zebra shirt, then what's the point in showing up at all?!

The Ravens have had an amazing and unexpected season this year.........and it's still not over yet! We can still pull this thing off! The formula is this: work TWICE as hard as the other team, and have more petty cash on hand than the other team, to grease the zebra's palms. It's hard enough to beat a team when it's 11 people against 11 other people. It's impossible when it's 11 people against 19 other people!!.

That's exactly what we've seen several times over the past two years though. Think about these games: The Monday Night Game against the Patriots last year......the 1st game against the Squealers this year.....the game against the Titans this year.....and finally this ridiculous charade of a "fair contest" tonight......

Did we "lose" any of those games? In my opinion: HE*L NO! But the refs said we did.......and I don't own a zebra shirt.......Nuff said
So I'm fairweather because I decided to make a name with our first round pick in it, sorry I couldnt join earlier, didnt no who we'd pick.

BTW didnt know we had a board to post on, didnt know that meant I was fairweather, thanks for letting me know.

I'm saying if your giving up on this season because "we can't win in the playoffs" makes no sence. You dont know we can't win. Nothing proves that any team can win more then the Texans beating the Titans, or even the Jets beating the Titans a few weeks off a loss to Oakland for God's sake. We are just as dangerous as any team in the playoffs, everyone has a shot. To say we're not ready, and declare it time for next year in my opinion is crap.

If im fairweather because of when I joined the boards, excuse me for that. But I backed this team when they went 6-10 and last year when they went 5-11, I'm not a guy who gives up on his team after a few bad losses. Truth is this team is still in the playoff hunt and should be focused on this season, not next.
I like your style Lets Go Joe......I like your style.......and a hearty AMEN to your words my friend!!

Yea, it really does suck after a tough loss though! Man, I can't imagine the Dallas fans if we loose. They're generally some of the worst to deal with!

QUOTE (Big Ben Rulz @ Dec 15 2008, 09:08 AM)

Right, from 150 feet and with your own eyes you had a better understanding of the spot than a seasoned official watching zoomed in game feed. You fans are amusing......

Whatever dude...you wanna go and "crow" about how wonderful the Squealers are be my guest. The entire country watched that charade on national tv yesterday, and I have already seen and heard responses from many knowledgable people that the call was a disgrace. Did you watch the Dallas game last night? At halftime they were discussing that call. ALL FOUR of the commentators (which included former NFL star Cris Collinsworth) said that there was no conclusive evidence to overturn the ruling on the field. It should have remained 4th and inches. Heck maybe the Squealers would have done a quarterback sneak or pounded a linebacker through to win the game legitimately. If they had, you wouldn't even be reading this post from me as I understand that only one team can "win" in any athletic competition. Did the Squealers EARN that "win" yesterday? He*l no! But it was so much easier for the Squealers to receive an early Christmas present, gift-wrapped and HANDED to them on a silver platter by a Santa Claus dressed in a zebra suit.....and the Squealer fans wanna crow about THAT? Buck up, grow a set and admit the truth to yourself. Sure the final score of the game showed a win for the Squealers. But there is a major difference between a "win" and a true "victory" and that is something the likes of you will never understand........
