CB Richard Sherman

I feel like all the Ravens fans who are fond of Sherman's trash talk are being a little hypocritical.  Any Ray Lewis highlight video you watch from his younger days has him yelling at opponents to "get off the damn field," "This is a man's game little boy," and so on.  Attitude in football is needed.  Do you really think the 2000 Ravens defense didn't smack talk their opponents on every play?  That attitude is what can separate a good defense from a great defense.  Suggs even said in a recent interview that he is sure the coaches want to tell him to quiet down and humble himself but they won't because thats what makes him "Sizzle."  Michael Jordan is one of the biggest trash talkers of all-time, but nobody says he is a moron

There's a difference between doing it in game in the heat of the moment and trashing someone in an interview where they can't fight back or prove you wrong anymore.

Best cornerback is very arguable, and I'd argue against it. I enjoy a little trash talk, but he takes it way too far, especially in that post game interview. If you're truly the best, let your opponents say it.

I never got to see Barry Sanders, but when I see highlights, he'd toss the ball to the referee, no celebrating or anything like he knew he'd score. Just humble play. What happened to those types of players?

Everyone is not the same!  Everyone doesn't have the same type of docile personality!

Sure, Sanders just tossed the ball after he scored but he said he did that cause he was too tired after all of that running he did to get to the end zone.  lol!  And then when he retired earlier then when people thought he should have...they vilified him and called him selfish.  Just do you and stop worrying about what other people think!  That is Sherman's attitude and I love it! This is a new day!  A new era!  And a new type of player has arrived in the NFL.  How come no one here gets upset when Jacoby Jones scores a TD and then does a crazy, funny and awesome TD celebration dance?  I rest my case!

Not by the fans though. Not everything needs to be political correct. Sherman talks trash and he backs it up. Like Mili said, he's my type of cat!! Best in the league with a great story. I love this cat lol

i just remember last year on our superbowl, we were being thoroughly thrashed on every comments we made.   Whatever Flacco said, whatever Suggs said, whatever Ray said.

But Sherman??  OH HIS THE MAN!!

Agree. Classless and full of excuses.

I don't know why his the exception to everyone else.

If any of our ravens player did that, they'd be thrashed all week.

Did what? Talk trash and back it up. Oh you must have hated Chris McAlister back in 2000.

Suggs' trash talk is a little different. I've never seen him smack an opponent on the butt and get in their face after the game ending play. Then go on TV roid raging about how Crabtree talked bad about him when it never occurred.

I'm glad you saw/heard every exchange between the players during the entire game. What coverage of the game were you watching lol? Why would Sherman lie about Crabtree talking trash when we've personally seen Crabtree and Vernon Davis talk trash to our db's in the SB? That is very typical behavior of Crabtree, not like it was Tim tebow haha

Exactly. its like people forget we had 2 of the biggest trash talkers on our team but when someone on another team does it, its not acceptable. I'm perfectly ok with him trash talking because like Ray and Sizzle, he has earned it.

Well, the conspiracy about the media not liking us (which I somewhat believe lol) is responsible for that.

Imagine Tucker being that hyped lmao

He just made the biggest play of his life on a player who was apparently talking trash to him the whole game...I'd say he can slide

Far as I know, Chris left off a storm & never came back to ravens uniform.   One of major reasons why we didnt sign him back b/c of his attitude.

Even Reed was cocky because he knew he could be cocky.  The man did a whole segment on NFL network talking about how quarterbacks should just do run plays the whole time because they would be foolish to throw it....and he was right

I just don't like his attitude at all.

I also hate him calling himself the best when I don't think he is

As I said above, I see a big difference between in game and post game attitude.

He was emotional.. Dude went from Compton to the Super Bowl...Beating their despised divisional rival in the NFC championship and made the play of the game. Let him live!

So, it is alright for Flacco to say that he is the best QB in an interview when asked that question but not for Sherman to say that about himself?

nah... Reed had that kind of attitude when playing.   But when the game was over and its all said & done.  He would act like a professional the moment game was over.

Don't mistake those 2 things with what Sherman does

I don't agree with how he handled himself on the interview...  APPARENTLY, he tried to congratulate Crabtree on a great season, and Crabtree headslapped him...  after a long game of running his mouth...  I'm sure they both ran their mouths the entire game...  and considering what this game meant, there were some feelings coming out of Crabtree reminiscent of last year...  but there was no need for either of them to behave that way...

Richard Sherman.....  coulda handled it better.

who is even close at the moment?

Darrell Revis had an amazing season, as did Altraun Verner.

Sherman is strictly a right cornerback and plays with great safeties who roll coverage to his side.

Revis is great but Sherman is on another planet recenty...and IMO Verner isnt close to either yet...despite his great season

When Sherman can play 1 v 1 coverage with no safety help over the top, we'll talk, but he frequently has safety help rolled over to his side.

In reference to Sherman trash-talking Kurt Warner just said;

"Yeah!  The natural thing to say is....yeah dial it back and don't give anybody any bulletin board material whatever it maybe.  But, this is one of those guys that I believe plays better when he is like thisThere are certain players that have to have that mantra, that confidence; almost that arrogance because it makes them play better and fires them up to compete.  This is one of those guys!  I expect him to talk over the next two weeks like he always talks.  And the one thing that I love about him is that I think he respects the game and respects certain guys.  But just like we saw there (post-game interview) he felt disrespected by something; he backed it up and so he's going to talk about it......"

Boom!

He will make media week fun, that is for sure.

He is the best Corner in the league at the moment, and he's going to the Super Bowl. He can talk all he want, if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, he can brag all he wants up to the start of the 2014 season.

This is my last post on this topic, But I live in Florida and watched alot of Bucs games. Revis didn't play man as much as you may think he did this season. Revis was complaining earlier in the season because they was running mostly Zone.

Like others are saying, at least respect his honesty instead of most of the bull players say after a game.

I loved his post game interview. He just made the biggest play of his career and you interview him right afterwards?

Emotions, Let him have them.

Logic!

So now we know Revis is more versatile as well, but I do remember him complaining. We still know Revis can do some real work in man coverage
