WOW!!

That’s gotta suck!  This is what happens when you spend the entire offseason trying to embarrass the Ravens!

Peyton Manning is the greatest regular season quarterback of all time and that’s about it…Greatness Just got DOMINATED! Embarassing doesnt even begin to decribe what just happened. I mean wow, that was one of the most embarassing, most physically dominating beatdowns i have ever seen and on a National stage? Unbelievable. If you put that into a historical context this is going to go down as one of the greatest butt whippings ever seen. Mmm, I bet right now every fan in Denver is curled up in a corner somewhere trying to forget what they just witnessed…first the Mile High Rainbow and now the Seattle Shutdown? OUCH! Couldn't have happened to a better fanbase tho imo haha Karma...

Sorry Peyton – I hate to break this to you but you’re not the 'best ever' and that pains me to say because I was really hoping you would be…

Now hate on Flacco if u want but the dude doesn’t choke in crunch time. So take him for what he is…

I'm interested to see how Seattle handles this off-season.  They have some pretty big free agents on top of the guys that need big contract extensions like Sherman and Thomas.  Can't keep everyone.

The 2014 NFL Season begins Thursday Night Sept 4th in Seattle. Mariners are in Texas playing the Rangers so no MLB-NFL conflict.

You know, the Pats prolific offense didn't perform well in the playoffs in 2007, but even they weren't as bad as Peyton's Broncos were tonight.

I still don't really feel like this was a Super Bowl. Maybe it's because I'm not invested in either team, maybe it's the almost-blowout, but it still hasn't really registered that this was the last football we'll see until August...

The next couple of years are going to be interesting for both the Seahawks and the 49ers.  Lots of big players going to be going into free agency, and if the teams both continue playing at their current levels, they could be decimated by either teams pilfering their players or signing unfavorable contracts with players who could drop off at any time.

Certainly going to be interesting.

SF has more to worry about than Seattle IMO.  They're stacked at almost every position.  Seattle has some clear strength, but they'll also be able to keep some of those guys and on offense they can improve.  It's all downhill for the 49ers though.  What's Jim gonna do when his line isn't good enough to pound the ball anymore?

The bottom scroll on NFL Network says Seahawks WILL re-sign DE Michael Bennett.

Interesting, they probably should keep that DL together.  It is 100% the reason they won the Super Bowl.  I think another team offers him more than they can afford with the Thomas and Sherman contracts though, the same thing happened to us.  Teams raid the Super Bowl victor.

I'm so pissed off that I missed this game because I had to work I knew seattle were gonna kill them I picked them int he preseason to win it all. I think seattle have a good chance at being the first team since the 03-05 pats to win back to back titles.

Ok I absolutely hate Tim Tebow but that commercial was pretty good.  At least he isn't pushing his political agenda this time.

He never has…its other clueless people who project that on to him.

The entire point of his first Super Bowl commercial with his mother was to push his political agenda...

So what did we learn

- Peyton still chokes; post-season Peyton is a different guy than his regular season counterpart. Can't throw the ball past 10 yards which is a little bit of a disadvantage when you're trailing by 35. Loves to - HAS to - play small-ball.

- Denver is soft. Or is Seattle just that beastly? Seattle's defense put a whipping on every Broncos receiver that caught a pass. The Broncos didn't want to play past the first quarter. Kam Chancellor was awesome.

- Glad they gave the MVP to one of the deserving defenders.

- Brett Favre has been living in a shed in the woods for the past year - LINK - it's the only explanation for that mess

Well said Berad...  Couldn't have said it better myself.  Now maybe the Lovefest will end...  for a while.  Or; will everyone just "feel sorry" for him.

Naming Russell Wilson as MVP of this Super Bowl would be like naming Trent as the MVP of our SB win...

Wilson was 18-25, 206 yards passing, 2 TD's and no INT'S with a 88.1 QBR in the Super Bowl.  Not bad for a 2nd year QB playing on the biggest stage in the NFL.  To me; if that were Peyton or Brady they would no doubt be named the MVP.  Smh!

No sympathy here.  The anti-Manning venom continues.  He will be kicked as he is down.  If years of soft schedules, mediocre opposing quarterbacks and preferential treatment by the refs isn't enough to expose him as the fraud he is, I'll continue to keep bashing him as stat/number groupies paint him to be some idol.

Oh and I like how all of a sudden the Broncos embarrassment is a "team" loss.  Nope.  Peyton sucked.  He failed to make effective pre-snap adjustments and couldn't extend the play when his initial reads were taken.  He also didn't take many shots down field despite capable receivers and reasonable weather conditions.

He's not the sole reason they lost but a big part.  Not letting this cover up go unchecked.  Peyton sucked...the tape proves it...case closed.  Funny to watch NFL.com protect this skirt from the embarrassment he deserves.

I see your point. My view of that is that human life transcends "political agenda."

Ok, steering away from any political/social arguments:

How does the MVP voting work? Is it player ballot? Do they select from a few names?

Good ol reliable Playoff Peyton.  Even the SB he won, people question if he deserved the SB MVP.  Let's be very clear about how bad that Bears offense was.  Someone name me 3 starters on that offense and I'll let you use Rex Grossman as 1.

I said this somewhere else, but I was so happy to see those bs receiver screens shut down, as well as those cheap pick routes.  I've said all season, if you get physical with the Broncos receivers, minus D Thomas, they will begin to crumble and even he looked a little phased around the 2nd-3rd quarter.  Seattle set the tone EARLY.

Was happy the right person got MVP.  It would've been a robbery if someone on the defense didn't get it.  He obviously deserved it and the real MVP award should be given to the actual most valuable player.  Not the just the player with the best stats.

Brett Favre looks like him and Ed Reed go collecting cans and asking for spare change in the off season.

2006 Bears offense, hmm. Okay, no cheating, I think I have three. The original RG3, like you said. Thomas Jones - RB, I think he had supplanted Benson by that point. Olin Kruetz (sp?) - C. Was Musin Muhammed on that team? Earl Bennett? Those are my best shots, very forgettable offense.

Totally agree. Denver kept trying the screens and 4 yard in-routes and Seattle was just sitting on it, waiting to pop those guys. Smith was deserving, you could have also given it to Chancellor as well.

Surprised nobody is talking about the journey the Seahawks took to get to last night's big win. I remember people got on the Seahawks for hiring Pete Carroll when the sanctions were about to come down on USC. Then everyone jumped on them when the NFC West was the worst division in Football and the Seahawks were division champions at a puny 7-9 record.

Then last night, the road traveled to Metlife wasn't pretty for the Seahawks but in the end, they went from 7-9 to World Champions in just 4 seasons.

Super Bowl XLVIII ratings have been released, and to no surprise after the blowout, the ratings are down from a year ago. The over night rating was 47.6, down from 48.1 in last year's Super Bowl that featured the Ravens and 49ers.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/03/super-bowl-ratings-down-a-little/

Unfortunately the ratings were higher in New York, so this foolish cold weather Super Bowl nonsense might not be a one and done thing.

And ESPN is reporting it was more watched than last year.

It's funny how all the Peyton fans are blaming the team for his dismal Superb Owl performance. If they'd been there when he broke records by running up the score on teams like the Raiders and the NFC East sides and saying those records were a team performance, I might respect that opinion.
