Peyton Manning will emulate Ray Lewis...Go Out on Top?

9 posts in this topic

After this monstrous season...the best season by any NFL QB followed by an AFC Championship win and potentially a SB victory I see Peyton Manning retiring and going out on top. He said in an interview he is definitely coming down to his last seasons and there will be a neck evaluation to see if he can even still play at all once the season is over.

Peyton has done it all and is a locked and loaded first ballot HOFer, the only thing left he could do is  go after the all time passing records which he is in the top 3 in pretty much every category. Seeing the look Peyton had after he won the AFC championship game...I think this is the last we will see of arguably the best QB in NFL history.

I think next season will be his last.

Its hard for me to believe after all the dominance the Broncos had this year that Peyton would hang em up...but I just have a feeling.

I bet Peyton wishes he had all these weapons a few years sooner. It make me even more happy in our Superbowl run knowing how we beat Denver. They think it's some fluke play and they would've won it all of it never happened.

Peyton retires after playing two years with Welker, I can see that for some reason haha

It's possible; while the whole check-up thing is actually apart of his contract (to see how his neck is doing), it kinda make senses for Manning to retire if the Broncos win it all. I mean, what else does he have left to prove? Peyton Manning would become the first QB to win a Super Bowl with 2 different teams, I think. Plus, his main goal, after signing with Denver, was to win a Super Bowl after all.

It would be interesting, however, to see what the Broncos do with their free agents and older players (i.e. Bailey, Phillips, Welker, etc.) if Manning was to retire.

I thought I read somewhere Manning was planning on retiring no matter what -- I wish I remember where to source it.

No, the most recent report was that he'd be coming back regardless of this season's outcome if his neck evaluation after the season goes well.  We'll see.

Then he could potentially go out like Elway did. Win back to back Super Bowls to close out his career.

If he does retire, then the Broncos could fall into the obscurity that their fans so richly deserve. :)
