It doesn't matter who the OC is if the quarterback that the franchise made the highest paid player in football doesn't want to work outside the facility.

It's pathetic that the organization has to try and lite a fire under his behind be releasing this news to the media.  It's no wonder he and the receivers can't get on the same page.

And how do you know he doesn't work with his receivers outside the facility?

Kyle Shanahan is still my first choice, if he's available.  I know a lot of you guys disagree with that.

Shanahan caught a lot of grief for the debacle in DC, but I think he might be a good OC away from his father. He knows offense and brings a fresh take, so I wouldn't be opposed.

I think he'd be motivated to work hard too, seems like he wants to separate himself from his father's name.  People overlook just how much the Shanahans modified their offense to make RGINT effective.  I'd rather get a hungry young guy who's proven himself to be adaptable than cycle through the old guard.

I'll be alright with Jim Zorn too. Didn't he and Flacco have a great relationship that was torn apart in favor of keeping Cam?

I'd def be ok with Turner as well but if Flacco had good chemistry with Zorn, why not bring back a coach he liked.

Yes I believe Joe loved Zorn.

What I want is a older OC who wont be talked up as a HC candidate ever year. Norv Turner is the absolute perfect fit in every possible way for us

From a Mike Preston article in the sunpaper...

With Castillo in the mix this season there appeared to be too many coaches impacting decisions. The Ravens also need to light a little fire under both Flacco and Rice. Flacco needs to work with the receivers more during the offseason instead of just waiting for occasional minicamps, and Rice needs to spend more time conditioning.

yea great point. He's definitely a big play OC. We know that even with his explosive offense he can still get the most out of the FB position as evident with Leach's success. Owen Daniels is of the same mold as Pitta, so he should be able to use Pitta, Pierce is the type of RB he loves with that one cut and go style but I'm sure he'd get the most out of Rice as well seeing as how Foster is a receiving weapon out of the backfield. What he did for guys like Jacoby and Walters would give me confidence he'd use our other WRs well and he made sure Andre Johnson moved around a lot to get favorable matchups which I've wanted to see all year with Torrey, so I think he'd definitely be a good choice.

Is he a big play guy? For some reason I feel like he was more of a dinker and dunker

But yeah, Kubiak is my first pick.

Ravens QB Joe Flacco & His Receivers Have No Offseason

Ravens’ Joe Flacco makes quick work of offense

Before organized team activities began, Flacco and his receivers participated in throwing sessions at the team’s facility, during the same day a weightlifting period was scheduled.

The idea was to work on timing, something Flacco and the receivers struggled with at times a year ago.

Joe has grown into being one of the best,” receiver LaQuan Williams said. “He doesn’t get a lot of credit, but he works so hard and pushes us.”

Yea his offense does dink and dunk but they run a lot of play action with deep routes and misdirection. Actually that type offense is exactly what i've wanted for years. That offense runs a lot of crosses, deep digs and double moves off of play action which is really tough for a defense to defend. I remember a couple years ago Ed Reed saying how that offense was maybe the best simply because it was so tough to defend.

No problem, these were just a couple of links I found after a quick search. For some reason, Joe gets way too much undeserved criticism. Of course, there are legitimate criticisms, but his work ethic isn't one of them. I think a lot of people mistake his laid back demeanor as disinterest or laziness, when that's not the case at all.

Mike Preston is a credible source now? Just today he claimed that Flacco needed to be more like Manning and do a better job at drawing defenses offsides. He forgot to mention the part where the Ravens lead the league in neutral zone infractions committed by opponents. And that's just one example from TODAY.

This was easily Flacco's best season at gamesmanship.  There were plenty of games where he was drawing the defense off-sides.  And that's with an OL prone to false starts.

Too bad Bengals made Hue Jackson their OC he was my choice... Norv should be available he was upset Chudzinski was fired. Kubiak is a nice option as well. Billick as an OC.

Bill Callahan is actually a decent OC although in Dallas he looks crazy as they battle between he and garret playcalling.

Pete Carmichael. I'm sure he's learned a lot from Sean Payton.

From College maybe Josh Heupel from Oklahoma.

Chad Morris Clemson OC

Absolutely!!  It's current not old stuff from 2010 and 2012 or shills on the Ravens payroll .

After the year that Payton was suspended, the only person I trust to call his offense is him.

Current? so Joe doesn't work with his receivers in the two weeks since the season ended, therefore he never works with receivers in the offseason? Even though there were links from multiple past offseasons indicating that he does, in fact, work with his receivers in the offseason?

That's some mastery of logic :eyes:

Just ignore him. His incessant Flacco hate was kinda cute in the Flacco thread where I could ignore it, but now it's getting tedious in a thread where I (and others no doubt) want to read about possible OCs.

I have to say you're beginning to sell me on Kubiak. I remember watching Texans games (even this year) and wondering how a defence would be able to stop them on those goalline plays. Between Foster, Tate, Graham, Daniels, Johnson and Hopkins they had so many ways to bang it in. Imagine what we'd be capable of with a good offensive draft AND a 6-6 QB for those sneaks.

What do you make of what I've seen to be his main criticism though? That he doesn't adjust very well and sticks with the same plan too often? I think we've had too many of those guys around.
