the way this shook out is weird...how do we get all this hype about these other guys for 2 weeks, not hear a word about Kubiak, and then suddenly he gets the job? i dont understand.

also, if anybody cares, we're apparently dumping our TEs coach too.

all you "control the ball and play defense" heads better get ready for disappointment, this offense is about to go through some changes, and its about time.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Everything I've heard about Kubiak is that he's very involved with the QBs.

So, why do we need Dennison for? An OL coach as a QB coach? As a RB coach he could work, but taking care of the QB seems like a stretch to me.

Also said Wade Harman won't be here either. Yeah, talk about a soap opera.

I'm going to hold out hope that Kyle is our new receivers coach

Wow, Harman has been here forever

It's a business. I just try not to think about the family behind the coach. It makes me sad to think about it. I wish Harman the best, and I'm sure he'll find his way on another staff soon.

Let's just wait and see how everything shakes out.

The topics have been merged with the other thread...  Conversation was becoming redundant and folks posting the same thing over and over.  Didn't see a need for both threads to be active at this time. Thanks

He'd only be a bust cuz of Shanahans stupidness. Pops that is.

Shanahan's or their owner??  Word is RG3 didn't report to the HC but rather the owner...hence why Shanahan finally said enough and sat the kid and then got fired for doing so.  1 + 1 = 2

It's a shame that it looks like Kyle Shanahan isn't joint the staff, he would have been a natural to slide into the OC job next year when Kubiak goes back to a HC position. While I like the hire, I'm afraid we'll be going through this again next year, and without having the option of bringing Shanahan in.

I think a lot of these assistant coaching "names" are a bit overblown. I doubt that a QB coach only focuses only on the QB play in terms of input into the offense. When you bring in coaches that you've worked with a long time, they all probably give input into different aspects of the game, including schemes, personnel, etc. I doubt Dennison comes in and just follows Flacco around like a puppy dog and watches everything he does.

The idea of bringing in assistant coaches, in my opinion, is to bring in a plethora of coaches that have experience in the game and may or may not have particular experience in a particular aspect of football. Its one of the reasons why bring in a guy like Spagnuolo a few years ago. He's just another set of eyes and ears for Harbaugh and company to bounce ideas off of based on experience.

Don't get why it can't be in ravens talk?

Anyone I'm not that thrilled Shanahan won't coming. I'm also not thrilled in Kubiak becoming OC. However I am thrilled for change. Offense could get much worse from last year so let's wait until they're on the field to have an opinion!

Hopefully these moves bring us back to the promise land. Go ravens.

since when are we looking for a new Receiver coach? that was only gonna be an issue if Hostler got promoted. he's wont be now, and i doubt after spending two weeks thinking about promoting him we're just going to randomly decide to fire him.

I hope Gary will bring a new play book with him. I want to see new plays and not the same old Cam Cameron junk

I'm with you. While Kubiak is definitely a good hire and an upgrade at OC, he'll most likely be gone after this year and we'll have to start over. I actually prefer Kyle's play calling, and it was more likely that he stayed with us for more than just one year.

Of course, I'm assuming that Kubiak will get a HC gig next year, but it does seem pretty likely if he can turn this ship around, given his resume.

So with the offensive line, the Ravens have Castillo (assume, since Harbaugh said he was going to), Todd Washington, and Andy Moeller. You surely can't have three guys in one spot, especially with Dennison being an OL 'guru'. So who goes? I doubt it's Castillo.

Great pick. If Kubiak does well so do the Ravens. And if he gets a HC position the following year we will have had a good season this year. Win-win. Luv it.

Wouldn't surprise anybody if Hostler left the team, either due to firing or quitting. He might not be overly happy about being passed over for the OC job, and may not want to work in a new system with new coaches.

I shared the opinion of most of the responders to this blog about Shanahan vis a vis Kubiak-- I also preferred Shanahan on the basis of my belief that he would more than likely stay on longer than Kubiak (who might be a HC candidate again next season). But the more I think about it, the more I think this is a much better fit. I like it when the coordinators are older than the HC. A successful Kyle Shanahan has better prospects of landing a head coaching gig than a successful Gary Kubiak-- The NFL all of a sudden is in love with hot young assistants rather than older, more experienced known commodities. Kubiak is less likely to get into combustible situations with players and coaches than the younger (rumored more fiesty) Shanahan. If two hands are both savvy, I'd take the steady one over the volatile one.

i think you're grossly over-estimating the prospects of a WR coach. Cant think of anybody whose gonna seriously look at him for OC now, and i cant think of anybody who needs a wide out coach either but any move he does make is likely going to be lateral, which means working with new coaches in a new system, so i dont think he'll leave on his own accord, especially not if those would be his reasons.

I, as many here, have stated a plus-1 for Kubiak. He works well with QB's and is the fresh face this offense needed. The last 5 years, regardless of who called the plays was the same philosophy.... with the same sub-par results (Except for the SB run - :-)).

Good hire and good luck, Gary. You're going to need it.

Was listening to "The Fan". They were hinting Castillo would be gone too.... "as a win-win".

I hope they are right.

i guess. some things are less likely than others, and Hostler leaving the staff is one of them.

I think Harman's only out because Kubiak's in and he wants to bring in his own TE coach to help install his scheme, which makes sense. A lot of people forget in todays league because they all split out so often and catch so many passes all the time, but TEs are part of the O line and are gonna play a key role in implementing Kubiak's rushing attack, especially since we dont have the type of agile linemen he needs to run that right now.

Man I was so happy watching Kubiak speak. A class act all the way. I am proud of Harbaugh too! He finally did what was right for the team! Who cares how it got done, but it got done finally! My only concern is why wasn't Shanahan part of the team that was brought in? Is he still out there being considered as a RB coach? I would love to get him on board as well...

Reports are that he won't join us, but Adam Schefter was reporting that Hostler may be gone. If he is, that would be an opening for Kyle.

We just don't know at this point. Kubiak wasn't even supposed to be in consideration for the job, but he all of a sudden emerged as the front runner this morning. Things just kinda happen and it's a possibility that if he doesn't land an OC, like in Cleveland or Tennessee, that he could be picked up on the Ravens staff.
