Great hire (on paper). Hope everything works out the way we all are hoping for. But he's the best man to do it so I'm confident our offense will look pretty good next season.

First of all, props to the opener of the thread who somewhat picked Kubiak as the lead choice as OC since the beginning. Who knew in the end that the Ravens could potentially hire an outstanding coaching staff. I'm really looking forward to next season. This thread was a hell of an emotional roller coaster ride lol

Texans fans do not like Kubiak at all. Many of them are warning Ravens fans.

Texans fans didn't like Jacoby either....  but Baltimore does.

Oh and Gary Kubiak will be at the press Conferance TODAY!!

Jeff Zrebiec jeffzrebiecsun 3 hrs

It's expected that Kubiak will be at today's press conference. But again, not sure about what other changes will be announced

Either way, Koubiak hire is a huge coup for #Ravens. Accomplished play caller and has had good success working with quarterbacks.

One scenario is Kubiak at OC, Shanahan as QB coach, Dennison as RB coach and Hostler, Castillo staying in current capacity. But we shall see

We also don't have a RB coach anymore

knew i was forgetting one. Doesnt seem like Moeller's going anywhere though, so he could possibly get that post

I'm holding out hope that Shanahan is coming over as the QB coach...

I want Shanahan here in some shape or form.  Look at what he got out of the no names in WAS and how efficient the Texans offense was when he was there.

To tell you the truth, I'm not to concerned about Kubiaks playcalling. Kubiaks system is similar to Shanahan's, Only difference is, Kubiak doesn't run the Pistol Formatiom as much. But Kubiak like to mix in the no huddle a few times a game, unlike Shanahan, who rarely run no huddle...

http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/09/sugar-huddle-can-be-deployed-to-disrupt-defense/

Kubiak system still attack defenses from deep to short, to start games like Shanahan. The thing with Kubiak is once he get a 2 score lead, instead of keeping his foot on the pedal for the entire game like Kyle does, Kubiak will switch it up and attack defense from short to deep, while running the ball more, trying to control the clock. He gets real conservative with his play calling (run, run, pass) at times.

But since we are going to run more short passes and actually play to our guys strengths now, we should start converting more 3rd downs. Kubiak still brings a good playbook with him and he also call plays to set up other plays, especially off of play action, and we all know Joe is arguably the best play action QB in the NFL, so hopefully that would off set his Cam Cameronish type playcalling at times, at least that's what I hope.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Ravens use the short passing game as an extension of the run game like the Pats and Broncos do. Their offenses are pretty good every year...

We already know its Kubiak, why hold a press conference at 3PM to announce it?

To make it official

So reporters can ask questions about what the plan for the offense is, other coaching moves, and what influenced this decision. You know, sensible things that happen at pressers

You know... it's called a PRESS conference so the press can be there to ask questions...

If Dennison joins us can Castillo be shown the castle doors?

It's possible, but I doubt it.  Castillo is actually a really good coach for this offensive system.  Dennison and Kubiak are ZBS based.  And to be frank they are really good at it.

This is January and not April 1st right?

There are three things that come from Texas and the third is a great return guy.

Are you messing with my head man??

Nope. I did read that. It said that he (Schefter) would guess a 100% chance that he would come follow Kubiak via Free agency. I would not kid about that. Still--Too good to be true.

that actually was on te reports posted by ravens sources on the site.

now that I think about it yeah we need a qb coach AND a rb coach, idk if dennison is either but yea now that I think about it If they could keep the staff intact that would be awesome

None of those sources said the Ravens were definitely going to hire all these guys. They said Ravens are "trying to assemble a star studded cast of coaches" that COULD mean hiring all these guys, as well as a number of other things. most of you are jumping to conclusions.

Who cares what Texans fans think? Not like we cared before? Why start now?  In any case, it is the environment that gets the most out of players, and their players seem to excel here in Baltimore!

BTW 22% of all HC in the NFL have Baltimore pedigree, now it may be more like 30% over the next couple of years!

Really think this will be a breath of fresh air for the offense.  We couldn't afford an in-house hire at OC at this point.  A splash like this was needed.

Getting a veteran staff with successful experience.

Yeah I'm curious to see if they discuss what changed of the weekend from having 2 final candidates to a package hiring.

Exactly. And now they have to win. You can't get an all-star cast and fall on your face. I like how it looks on paper. Now I'm ready for the season to start. :)

My guess is we get them both...  Kubiak and Shanahan....

The fact that no one else interviewed Shanny leads me to this conclusion as well.

I was thinking that's what they were waiting for...  was to see if they could get both lined up to work together again.

Love the hire. Matt Vensel puts it well.

Kubiak is a Shanahan disciple who brought zone-blocking schemes to the Texans and helped running back Arian Foster come out of nowhere to become one of the NFL’s best at his position in that offense. He was pretty multiple with his personnel, going three-wide on one play, using two tight ends on the next and then dusting off the fullback for a run out of the I formation. He also used a move tight end to try to create mismatches, which could be good news for Kyle Juszczyk.

In theory, Kubiak would kick-start a slugging Ravens running game and should also be a major asset to quarterback Joe Flacco given all of his experiences with Elway.
