Jim Hostler must feel like Robb Stark during The Red Wedding right now.

I know it hurts  but if he still on our coaching staff I hope he's able to get over it.

He should. Or else he should look at himself for extending Harbaugh twice and making him one of the highest paid coaches in the league - if he is just a 'figurehead'. The Harbaugh bashing is sometimes unbelieveable and some of the buddy rhetoric makes you wonder if people realize what they say... I bet if Kubiak/Dennison/Shanahan doesn't work out, he'll be accused of being John Harbaugh's buddy, too, a few years down the road.

Same thing with the 'doghouse' crap.

Again, I don't believe any of it.

Exactly. All of that crap is nothing more than BS fabricated by people that don't like Harbs.

My thinking is if Kubiak does well here in one year he'll get a HC job somewhere, then Shanahan will just continue on with the offense as the OC.  Shanahan didn't get many looks for an OC job out there this year so this is his next best shot.

Which is benefit of hiring both.

If these guys don't work out, I don't know if Harbaugh will be around much after that anyways. Preston aside, everyone heard Bisciotti say that he will only be so patient. We don't make the playoffs next year, serious things will probably happen.

With all that said, I don't know why people think (not you, just in general) that having input from an owner or GM is such a bad thing. Who knows what happened behind closed doors. It could have been a complete Harbaugh decision. It could have been a decision made when Newsome put a little more stress on it. No one will ever know besides the parties involved. But I hope Harbaugh didn't make the decision all on his own. I hope he asked for input, because there is nothing wrong with that.

Ozzie and Bisciotti are involved and should be involved. My issue is when it's 'reported' as Harbaugh being totally excluded from the discussion, as if he's cancerous or inept. That's ridiculous.

Harbaugh, Ozzie, and Steve have always said they are in deep talks with each other and always asking for input. When they met in Bisciotti's home in Florida, I doubt they just handed Harbaugh a coloring book - that's what Preston would like you to believe.

I think Preston harbors some sort of vendetta against Harbaugh. Likely because Harbaugh calls him out of the stuff he fabricates or what he pushes. Most notably his 'Ray Lewis and Ed Reed should be benched' column.

Wasn't Shanahan Kubiak's OC in Houston for a couple of years? His addition to the staff makes perfect sense to me, and should Kubiak get a look at HC next year, Shanahan can be the heir-apparent, no?

Agreed Berad...

Mike Preston has always been one that does that very well...FOR YEARS, even before Harbaugh.... He did it with Billick too.  :268213:

Perhaps, but if Kubiak gets a head coaching job, who's to say he wouldn't want Shanahan on his staff?

True... I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there!

That's what Dennison is for. We usually only allow coaches that leave to take 1 member of our staff.

He may want  to have Shanahan on his staff but Kubiak loves calling the plays on offense no matter who the offensive coordinator is. Shanahan wouldnt receive as much credit as a play caller  and overall have as much freedom to do what he wants on offense.

And Dennison as well.  If this goes through, we just picked up 3 OCs in a single day lol.

So is this Kubiak/Shanahan/Dennison report as close to being official as it can be, or is it just a rumor?

no rumor when gary gets the job he's bring Dennison and Kyle with him also john Harbs like the idea too so when Kubiak get a HC Job  1 or 2 years they have someone who can take over.

All the insiders (Shefter, Wison) at al. are talking like its a done deal, just waiting on Kubiak (I assume he's negotiating wih Shanahan and Dennison to fill out his staff).

I like the idea of bringing all three in, not so sure what position they will all have, but kyle already learned from Kubiak for years maybe every chance Elway was winning championships so i didnt really see the need for Kubiak since Kyle been under him for years, Dont know Dennison at all so no comment on him. I think it might be time for a change at WR coaching, everybody respects him but we draft/pickup so many young WR and none has worked for us until now after 5 years...

why are they also gonna bring dennison and shanhan on along with kubiak? seriously didn't harbs learn last year too many chiefs nt enough Indians? having all these coaches around for no reason just causes confusion and bad calls on the sideline..

Interesting interview with WNST and the Houston Chronicle's John McClain (extremely credible, great reporter on the Texans for decades) on Kubiak, Shanny, Dennison etc.

http://bit.ly/1f1PY8O    Quite insightful on Kubiak!

nobody said we were gonna hire all three dudes, fans are making that up.

but we do have an opening for a QB coach as well as OC, so we might take two of them. might be trying to figure out who gets which job.

How is this going to work in the short term though? How will 3 longtime OC's be able to cooperate together? I'm guessing Shanahan will act as the QB coach, but what about Dennison? Offensive Specialist, or some other zany idea?

I would be very happy with Kubiak (OC), Shanahan (QB Coach), Dennison (O Assistant). We lost 3 offensive coaches (assuming Moller still leaves) and we haven't had a QB coach in a year and a half.

We also don't have a RB coach anymore
