I don't understand how the chargers can lose their two top receivers such as Macolm Flyod and Denario Alexander but still turn out to have the fifth overall offense in the league. Is rookie Keenan Allen,Vincent Brown and Eddie Royal really that more talented than Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown and Jacoby Jones ? Is Philip Rivers whom had a disaster year under the air corydell system last year really that much better than Joe Flacco ?

Keenan Allen is making noise right now in the league , Vincent Brown is a slot receiver at best with good hands, and Eddie Royal is the speedy guy whom is a good kick returner with iffy hands at times but im not sure if they are great route runners. I know they still have one of the best tight ends in the game in Antonio Gates but yet they are ranked 4th in the league when it comes to passing the ball. I think that's amazing how a offensive coordinator can do so well when he loses basicly his number one and two receivers to injuries but still produce a good passing offense but it's ashame the ravens offense couldn't do the same.

Ken Whinsenhut is no joke. He knew what he had to work with. A bad offensive line when it came to pass blocking so he installed an offense with quick throws and involved his runningbacks a lot. Todd Haley did the same with Pittsburgh unlike us there coordinators make it work with what they got. It seemed like Caldwell tried going deep every play behind that offensive line. The results were as showed

Caldwell is interviewing for the Lions HC...seems like they want him....not sure why...but im sure it had to do with being around Peyton when he won and Flacco whe he won...

I'd love for the Lions to basically help our team out here.

Caldwell in my opinion is  great with developing quarterbacks and he may not be a good play caller atleast last year but he may be able to help Matthew Stafford and thier offense  out a lot. I honestly don't want Caldwell to leave because he such a good quarterback coach

Whoever we get to replace "Air Caldwell" ought to script the plays like Bill Walsh used to do. To say our offense is predictable would be a gross understatement. Maybe they did script the plays in 2013 'cause it seems like every game went the same. Play 1 - Handoff to Ray Rice, Play 2 - Long incomplete pass to Torrey Smith, Play 3 - Short incomplete pass, Play 4 - Punt by Sam Koch, Plays 5 thru 8 - Repeat plays 1-4. If Kubiak is interested and can't find a head coaching position, I'd snatch him up in a heartbeat.

I thought it was presumed that Juan was brought in to replace Caldwell. That was the rumor I heard. If not, then I agree, any blood, so long as it is new to us, can't hurt.

What Oakland fiasco? Hue Jackson ran a rag tag bunch of misfits picked by a run down old owner to 6th best in the league. Look at his body of work with the Bengals then Falcons, Ravens for the 2 years he was here, the Raiduhs then again for the Bengals. He traded a few maybes for a proven veteran. I will not give up on Hue Jackson. Best OC in the NFL.

After Dallas just missed the playoffs, might Jason Garrett be available?

Say what you want about Dallas but they're offense has been good enough to come within a game of the playoffs, even with the historically bad defense they've had.

And since Joe can make all the passes Romo can make and more, there really isnt a drop off and talent, actually an increase when you think about it.

I never said he was a bad OC , just said after that ordeal in oakland, it was as though he became drunk with power ,,, and I am paraphrasing "this trade will become the greatest trade of all time" well it did for the Bengals who turned around and hired him after he was fired, he said and did a little to much . understand I am not  saying that he is bad , he just left a bad taste

I brought up some college OC's that may be options a while back in this thread but I want to add one more.

Doug Nussmeier | OC | Alabama - He had a solid career as a QB in college, and was the Washington OC/QB coach when Locker was there. He really has upped the level of Alabama's offense the last two years and has helped McCarron plays his best. I think he can be credited to opening up the gameplan of Bamas offenses each week beyond ground and pound. He was being mentioned as a possible suitor for the HC job in Washington before Peterson was hired. With Ozzies connection to Bama this actually may be a possibility if Caldwell leaves. A rather risky one, but I am sure if there is any GM in the league who will be able to decide if he is qualified and ready to make the jump it would be Ozzie.

On the same topic both OC's tonight with Oklahoma vs Alabama are some guys to watch from college. If Caldwell does get a job I am not sure if I would rather NFL experience with guys like Kubiak, Norv, Chud and so on, or 'up and comers' like Nussmeier, Josh Huepel, or even a guy like Saints QB coach and legendary son Joe Lombardi

get Ray Horton!!!

Put him as a D-line coach or something

We have Clarence Brooks as the Dline coach who has done a commendable job over the last 7 odd years.

Ken Whisenhunt

Joe Lombardi

Rob Chudzinski

No to Kubiak and Turner--too similar to Cam and we need to move away from that.

Though between those 2, I prefer Turner.

Not sure about Kyle Shanahan, seems like a bit of a wild card. but I'd like to see some innovation and I believe he would bring that. But I think Harbs prefers older, more established coaches (guys who are "lifers").

If Hue Jackson wasn't such a d-bag (reportedly) then I think he'd make a fine choice.

Cams play calling was bad...not the actual plays. Caldwell called cams offense very well and we had a successful playoff run.

I think Norv calls a better game than Cam.

norv doesn't actually have a "winning" pedigree. just reading his history on his wiki page reveals a pretty lackluster overall body of work, peppered with many losing seasons (both as HC and OC).   i honestly don't think he's our answer.  we need somebody to really shake things up.  (similar to what chip kelly did with the eagles but obviously not a chip kelly type offense)

For what it's worth, Hue apparently had a close relationship with both Flacco and Rice when he was here - both of them really liked him.

Yep, it's Harbaugh who didn't like him.

If we do try and get a new OC, ask yourself this: is he a BFF of Harbaugh? If not, scratch him off the list.

Everybody on Harbaugh coaching staff are not his BFF. Harbaugh made Jim Caldwell the offensive coordinator and they were not friends also the same  can be said about Chuck Pagano when he was here. I think the friendship topic when it comes to Harbaugh can be overrated because every head coach does it . The Texans new head coach just recently hired a wide receiver coach whoms  his friend

I wouldn't even go so far as to call that a rumor. That's just some blogger saying he thinks Turner would be a good fit. Purely speculation.

And, I don't want Turner. Outside of his time in Dallas when he had an all-star cast to work with, his resume is generally unimpressive.
