Would fit with the pure zone blocking direction we seem to be headed in.  With Castillo as the only Oline coach there is, we'll be doing zone blocking again.  At least Kubiak knows how to call plays that take advantage of zone blocking and will be able to show Castillo how it works.

That last line is pure gold hahah.

Not that it means much, but according to the owner of Jimmy's Seafood in baltimore, Gary Kubiak and his wife were in town tonight eating dinner there. Could just be a coincidence obviously, but it could also mean we have an interview planned.

(Fun fact: He said he saw Mike Martz at BWI tonight as well. lol)

I sure hope it means there's an interview planned.

Where is Kubiak from? Unless he's from the area, I doubt it's coincidence that he's at Jimmy's Seafood.

Did you see Kubiak's "predictable" offense win three Superbowls in Denver? I didn't because I was barely born, but you might have.

how come it didn't work in houston with a loaded roster?

Didn't work?  Foster led the league in rushing one year and AJ continually goes well over 1200 yards.

It didn't work in Houston?

Top ten offense in 2012, 11th passing, 8th rushing, 8th scoring

13th offense in 2011, 18th passing, 2nd rushing, 10th scoring

3rd offense in 2010, 4th passing, 7th rushing, 9th scoring

4th offense in 2009, 1st passing, 30th rushing, 10th scoring

3rd offense in 2008, 4th passing, 13th rushing, 17th scoring

Yep, clearly didn't work.

By the way, those passing numbers were with Schaub.

Should probably do your homework before you make inaccurate statements.

Ok that actually frightens me.  He'd get Flacco murdered behind our line.

Not the most balanced OC is he. Then again, at least those numbers are "skewed because one's in the top 5 and the other's only the top half" and not "serviceable passing game because there's no running game to speak of" like a certain other team.

I like the idea of going with a proven veteran OC with a track record of success rather than experimenting with a young start up.

He sent Matt Shaub to the pro-bowl twice and had him lead the league in passing yards one year, so I'd say it worked VERY well.  Shaub is extremely limited physically, but aside from this year he played very well under Kubiak.

My (hopeful) take is that the front office has been preparing for this since Caldwell's interviews were scheduled, and if they were going to promote from within, they would have already announced the replacement.

That's a good point. I never thought if that.

Yeah, I thought about this as well. You gotta know they have been thinking about Jim's replacement for weeks.

ESPN said that Rhett Lashlee, OC, Auburn, may be an out-of0the-box type signing for Balty. He is only 30 and has worked under Malzahn for several years now

he's only two years older than Joe, so I wouldn't really go for him, but Norv on the other hand could really teach Joe a thing or two...

Apparently people do given the current criticism of Joe. He already has one Super Bowl.

I think, the work that Norv has done for Cleveland last season was super impressive considering, that he had to call plays with 3 different QBs.

Half the guys on the team would be older than him lol.

Nah, he looks pretty balanced to me. He's balanced almost to a fault.

I'm crossing my fingers for Norv.

Please god, I hope we aren't promoting someone from the inside or are getting Kubes.

Did you know that only one team wins the SB every year? Just because a team doesn't win the SB doesn't mean they aren't good.

Norv Turner is overrated if you ask me. The only success he had as an OC were with Dallas in the 90s when he had three of the best skill position players of all time in Aikmen, Irvin, and Smith. Not to mention the fortress of a line. Since then, he hasn't had success. That may have to do with personnel but who can tell?

Why don't you want Kubiak? He made Schaub look like a top five passer at times.

If Joe gets to a Pro bowl level, wouldn't you expect him to be close to a SB? if he got to a SB with average numbers, the SB's will come if you give him the resources. Kubiak would get the most out of him (as would Turner).
