DB coach Teryl Austin now Detriot Lions DC

All I said is that Austin has never shown that he's innovative. I'm not saying he won't be, but he hasn't done anything to show that he is right now.

I can agree with this

So he has the same teaching methods as every other coach in the league right?  So then,  Why are other teams corners not as good as ours?  I rest my case.  Mind you, we are picking in the back half of every draft.

When did I criticize him as a position coach? I never did. You're misrepresenting my case. I love him as a position coach. I just don't think he's done anything to really show that he'll be innovative as a DC. Sorry if I'm not being clear enough.

Okay now that may be true.  He clearly has displayed innovation as a position coach. I don't know what drills he has the db's running but it has improved them as a unit.

ex. (Jimmy Smith not biting on all those notorious double moves)

He's getting his head around on the jump balls

He's also opening up his hips and running with the faster receivers.

Austin is to thank for all of that.

48 is young for some.  Obviously he fits that mold his age hardly shows when you look at him.

Spite me?  LMAO If you knew what you were talking about half the time you talked, you would have seen Russel Wilson, Cam or Kap going deep in the playoffs from the start of the season. Scrambling Qb's are no good.  LOL......  Flacco is the man.

Austin is another person you have misjudged.  I'm telling you now, so you can remember who told you.  He can only teach technique because he is a position coach right?  If that's the case, why is Harbaugh our head coach?

Absolutely!  For some like me!  LOL!!!

Maybe not the best thread for this but Pepper Johnson is no longer the Patriots LB/DL coach...I know he may not be able to replace Austin in his position but I really hope somehow we snag him and get him on our team. He has experience with Pees so there may be an outside shot. He may be one of my favourite positional coaches that I know of

He's one of many coaches I'd rather have as defensive coordinator over Pees. Here's my top five

1. Kris Richard (Seahawks' DB)

2. Karl Dunbar (Jets' DL)

3. Jim Leavitt (49ers' LB)

4. Jim Tomsula (49ers' DL)

5. Ken Norton Jr. (Seahawks' LB)

As for a DB coach replacement, Jerry Gray (Titan's former DC) and Brett Maxie (Titan's former DB coach) are two guys who would be good hires.

So as far as I'm concerned 48 is not old as a coach.  Its young for some and old for others.

The guy has done absolutely nothing in his career to suggest that he knows how to coach except as a position coach he made the position he coached one of the best units on the team.

Where do these guys that claim to know football come from?  This is the same guy that ragged on the Virginia QB's yet here we are with one in the Super -Bowl.

Im dropping the mic and setting the stage on fire>   WOOOOF

Let's be honest though - Wilson is in the SB in large part due to defense.

His playoff numbers are ones you'd be ragging on Flacco for having. Seven of his games this season he threw for less than 200 yds. You don't get it both ways.

That said, Go Seahawks! lol
