It would be with a lot of altered comments. The cow manure chant comes to mind being...played on a loop.

what would be the equivalent of a riot and revolt on a messageboard?

Good luck Jim! I heard you had been reluctant to be an OC anyway so hopefully you'll feel more at home being back as a head coach.

One thing to keep in mind about Hostler is that, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Sun, he's very close with Torrey Smith and Joe Flacco. Could be good to have an OC that has chemistry with your franchise QB and top WR.

Hostler can't even coach WRs properly.  He was run the hell out of town in SF and even Frank Gore of all people, who you never hear bash people, said he was inept.

If Harbaugh promotes Hostler he's truly lost it on the offensive side of the ball.

Joe liked Cam Cameron.  Without Cam, we wouldn't even have Joe Flacco.  He was the one that took the guys out to Delaware to watch him.  The facts are the facts.  Cam was a casualty.  I think that Caldwell would have been a casualty too.  I believe our problems ran deeper than the O.C.   Whenever you make changes to anything there is an adjustment period.  And we are going to see how that works out for us again this coming season.  Hopefully we get the right people, and get them in the right places.

I'm with others...  Considering the changes, the losses in personnel, and the injuries, we were kinda doomed from the start this season...

Onward and upward!!!  Come on 2014!!!!

joe liked cameron at first, and he was the perfect OC for his first few years, he made a offense that hid joe's inexperience as a young starting qb, he also had a great set of personnel, it was the perfect storm for joe to succeed, but as joe grew as a player, cam didnt adapt and forced that same system, which limited our offense a huge amount. this caused a bit of a beef between joe and cam and it wasnt a secret. i appreciate cam bringing joe up from square 1 but he had to go, he was the reason we couldnt have won 3 super bowls in a row, because by year 3, joe was ready to carry this team, but cam wouldnt allow it, and now were in a rebuilding process after 1 super bowl. i do feel cam(along with mattison) wasted so much potential we had, sort of like how boller and billick wasted our potential when ed and ray were in their primes.

agreed 100%. torrey is still limited as a receiver and i believe its because he lacks coaching, the only 2 receivers we had that really flourished were polished veterans that came over after being coached to perfection. if you cant coach up a talent like doss, demetrius williams, etc, then i think its obvious the problem stems from the coaching. all of the receivers we brought in from day 1 and actually had some success, are succeeding purely off of natural ability(torrey, marlon)

Jim Hostler never played QB, so he never had any play calling experience as a player.

He never was a long-time offensive assistant under any proven, competent OC or offensive minded HC either.

I still don't get why the 49ers actually thought he was qualified to be an OC, and I don't see what qualifies him to be one now.

I would hope the Ravens FO would also realize the same.

As for Caldwell leaving, my only thought is: Are we now going to get an OC who knows how to do the job (and won't be interfered with)?

I would like to say I wish Caldwell well.  I hated Cam Cameron as a person and as an offensive coordinator.  I don't hate Caldwell, he seems like a really nice dude.  Regardless of how things went this season, the change to him was a major major major reason we won the Super Bowl, and we should be forever grateful to him.  There were even times this season where I could see why we liked him, plays where I thought he did a really good job of creating match up problems.  I don't think you can blame our offensive failure all on him, or even on Castillo or anyone else.  We had severe personnel deficiencies at a lot of positions, it's very difficult to overcome that.

That is quite the presumption.

That could be interesting.... Wouldn't be opposed. Both have history here. What is Zorn doing nowadays?

Most recently he was KC's QB coach.  I don't think he had a job in 2013.

I was very pleased to hear this news earlier today.

I definitely would be happy with Jim Zorn.  When he was here as QB coach on 2010 Joe had a very good year.  Hopefully as OC he would be willing to give Joe control, which appeared to be taken away from him this year.

[twitter]JasonLaCanfora[/twitter] "And, given the issues Castillo has with many Ravens players, promoting him would go over like a timebomb in that lockerroom."

Maybe my worst fears won't come to pass then.  The only other concern is giving it to Hostler, who sucks.  I don't understand why we even keep him as the receivers coach.

Well, in retrospect, at least the Ravens didn't just do the naive thing and fire Jim Caldwell. The guy was in discussions with a couple of teams to become their head coach and the Lions were the ones who hired him. So, basically, I'm saying we can't play the "What If?" game with Caldwell, any more (regardless how good-or-bad our next O.C. is and what Jim Caldwell ends-up doing in Detroit). Caldwell got his promotion and this franchise just has to move-on.

Either way, I agree, somewhat. Yes, the loss of Anquan Boldin and Matt Birk, the colliding-heads of Castillo and Moeller (in regards to the offensive line's scheme and philosophy), the injuries to Rice, Pitta, Pierce, Osemele and Jacoby, as well as having to deal with Gino and Shipley on the o-line were to just too huge to overcome.

Then again, his lack of creativity and adjustments, especially when the season went on, bothered me to no end. Caldwell suffered from a way too generic playbook and I couldn't stand how the offense only lined-up in the shotgun or pistol in the second half of the season (even if it was to give Flacco more time); the latter completely removed Vonta Leach from the offense.

Anyways, that's all in the past. Good for Jim Caldwell to become a head coach, again!

We know what you said. It's a ridiculous opinion.

I agree with everything you said but this. I actually think he adjusted pretty well to the hand he was dealt. We started off the season trying to be a running team because our receiver corps was so depleted. When that didnt work, we changed running schemes and really the offense. We ran pretty much our entire offense out of the shotgun or pistol and played 3 wide. Now, I'm not saying it worked all that well, but he did some creative things to try to get the offense going.

Wouldnt it be crazy if Harbaugh is banging Ozzie's desk right now to have his BFF castillo take the reigns of OC right now as we speak?

Actually its not that crazy
