Game of Thrones season 4

She said she had her husband Jon Arryn killed in the previous episode. Then she told Cat the Lannisters did it which drew Ned Stark to Kings Landing to investigate why they would have him killed pretty much influencing a ton of events that followed.

Don't discount the importance of Stark stupidity in the chain of events.  There are numerous small changes that would have prevented a war if they didn't lack a sense of practicality.

Oh yes, the Starks certainly played a very large role in it all. So many little things they could have done

This next episode promises to be a cracker. It shouldn't be a secret to anyone what's coming, and producers have called an upcoming dual the best fight scene in the series. It's one of those scenes I was hanging out for since getting to it in the books. This is also where you appreciate the "no one is safe" philosophy of George Arr Arr Martin imo. Because either fighter could actually win.

The Mole's Town and Eyrie scenes look like they could potentially lead an episode too.

Just a shame that we have to wait two weeks for it.

Yeah it should certainly be a very entertaining episode. Stannis should be interesting to follow as well

Stannis has been a bit of a dark horse this season, quietly going about doing his thing. Take out Melisandre, who's just nuts (didn't like how much they revealed about her in the last episode tbh), and he's probably my favourite candidate for the throne.

Yeah I wouldn't underestimate what he has done so far, the iron bank is a powerful ally and since the Lannisters have no new gold coming from the rock, that is a ticking time bomb for them. Not that Stannis is going for Kings Landing...

Watch and see what happens.

Well he did get stabbed right in the chest before it happened and they were both laying there so...

Episode 9 is building up to be quite the episode especially if Tyrion gets a considerable amount of screen time.

Okay I googled it, but still such a crazy fight.

I think we have the battle at Castle Black next episode of 102 vs. 100,000

I was getting annoyed at that Tyrion monologue about the beetles because I felt it would shorten the fight longer than necessary, but with hindsight it probably wasn't a bad length.

Needed to make a bigger deal about the poisons on Oberyn's spear though.

Looks like next week they'll do the battle at Castle Black. There's one key change in particular I'm expecting, and I'll be interested to see if they do it. Without having seen next week's trailer, I also wonder if they'll frame it like they did the Battle of Blackwater.

The trial was the right length.  Longer would've been gratuitous.  It's just a one on one fight, not a massive battle.  But that fight was bloody brilliant.  So well done.

Yeah, it wasn't a bad length. Just felt a bit abrupt. Maybe they could've built to it a bit more and added about 10 seconds afterwards (Tyrion getting escorted away with the camera spinning around to show him being disoriented or something). The fight itself was great though.

And after going over next week's trailer, it looks like the Castle Black stuff could well be a yes on both counts.

I feel like you can also start to get a sense for season 5 at this point.

I just hope the Mountain suffers at this point. Can't wish any good for certain characters anymore so I will just be like Arya and have my list of characters who I hope get the axe

It was very comical that Ariya was laughing soo hard.

she is often on the radio here, her laugh is ridiculous

That's arguably the last way that I want to go. Seriously. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later have both utilized it and it never gets any easier to watch. And I've seen some gruesome stuff.

I agree, usually the death scenes in the show don't get to me but that one hit pretty hard. Probably the most gruesome death in the series

Can't argue there.

On another note, major major props to Pedro Pascal. Did a great job of making Oberyn likeable and really made the character his own. I'd put his showing up there with Peter Dinklage, Aiden Gillen and Charles Dance.

Yeah he did very well, so well that they should have renewed his contact for the rest of the show if you get what I mean lol

Does anyone who watches Game of Thrones not watch it right away?  I'm not sure spoilers are as big of a deal as long as you're not going past the show.

I posted my first couple under spoilers as it had just happened but I think we have hit the safe zone

:(

At least they pinged Joffrey early in the season. That felt good (and damn near broke the internet).

Yeah it was great to see a guy you hate actually die in the show for once lol. But now Oberyn is dead and Tyrion is in a big hole.

In full agreement with you there. I actually haven't went back to watch it. The missing teeth, oddly enough, made it more difficult. It was brilliantly done, but it was a shock and a saddening one, as I'm not familiar with the books.
