Ravens Season-Review Press Conference

Newsome says #Ravens have identified the type of WR they want. Doesn't want to share what that is, but very confident they'll get him.

Because he is a 6th round pick? I'm sorry, but I have little faith in the Ravens ability to draft a WR. Torrey Smith is our #1. That's just sad.

Hopefully we can get Amaro AND sign Pitta. Ozzie isn't totally clueless drafting TEs.

IDK if he meant he had a specific player but a style that he is confident a FA or draft pick will fill the role.

Jim is going to let us have Anquan back?

I think this most likely signals the end of the Gino experiment.

Possibly. Harbs likes competition. If Gino puts on some weight and gets a lot stronger, he could still be in it.

No matter who we bring in, they'll have to compete for their spot.

Yep.  They emphasized size and strength, neither of which describe Gino.

Ozzie said that he and Harbaugh have a wr in mind and the definitely will go get this guy this offseason. That sounds like music to my ears.*crosses my fingers hoping its Kenny Britt*

Maybe we go back to Boldin. Ha, would fit our MO. No creative way to solve that problem, lets just go back to what worked. Ugh.

Good News...

Also, the Ravens could extend Ngata to lower his cap hit for 2014.

Also, it's clear that Ravens are going to work hard to extend Suggs at a number that will lower his cap hit in 2014.

Extending Ngata would be a horrible move, in my opinion.  He's way too inconsistent nowadays to rely on him for more years than we already have him under contract.

He drafted Ed Dickson instead of Jimmy Graham.

I would agree, if it weren't for the 15M in dead money that would result in cutting him, I'd be in favor of cutting him and using that money to re-sign Art Jones.

Obviously everyone is comfortable with Castillo moving forward, so we'll have to get used to him staying put. I'd like to know the receiver Newsome is so excited about (and hopefully it's Sammy Watkins). And yay for Dick Cass for actually getting into the press conference in the end. He was probably thinking he wore a suit for nothing. I am fascinated by how little Bisciotti seems to care about the sport of football sometimes. He's a great owner who seems to just like the game rather than live it. That's interesting but nice to see.

Did Zinno ask a question? I was waiting to see, and I couldn't really hear the reporters introduce themselves before the questions.

Thank goodness I didn't have you hear that self-righteous hack speak. He needs to stick to baseball because he is clueless when it comes to football. And even when he opines on baseball, he's still short-sighted.

Vinnie Cerrato is schooling him right now on 105.7.

I wonder how much Suggs would get on the market. He's getting old, is starting to rack up the injuries and has some kinda meh numbers over the past couple of seasons (not that I don't rate him, just trying to think of it from another FO's perspective). I suspect he could be willing to take that extension as he'll know Ozzie has the balls to cut him if need be.

You won't be saying that when he's on our squad giving us 150+ yard games.

Britt is certainly an intriguing option, but you can't rely on him to be the only pickup.  He's a good 1 year, low guaranteed $ candidate.  I can almost guarantee that the guy they have in mind is not Britt, although he may be someone they consider as a possible rebound/resurrection type of guy.

I got that line is emphasis. Gino is a backup now, sign FA center. Monroe, KO, FA, Yanda, draft pick, Wagner or KO or other. Oher and Gino won't be starters for sure. I think Elusive back will be brought in someway....to either push Rice to get in shape. Playmaker at WR or TE will be added. Elam to SS for sure. Suggs will likely be restructured or released..he is to old now for big $. He was AWFUL last 8 games. Time to cut bait IMO with Sizzle..my favorite Raven actually. The season was bad primarily cause of Horrible line play period, with slow Rice and no pass or run blocking. Idehigbo is a backup or ST player not a starting Safety. Good news is all teams go through this every off-season.

Three big statements he made regarding personnel

- Bigger interior OL (bye Shipley, Gino)

- Athletic Free Safety (bye Ihedigbo)

- Targeted type of WR; he was vague on who but said he and Harbaugh were in agreement on this player and they would be on our roster soon

Pretty exciting.

Some unwelcome news: Castillo WAS and will still be the lead OL coach. The OL sucked under him. Maybe it was personnel, that's what the Ravens are thinking.

Hell no. Decker is slow only a product of thier pick and rub system Manning uses. Without Manning and thier system he is nothing.

The only thing they really left unclear was the plan with Caldwell.  If he doesn't get another job, what do they do with him?  They kind of skirted around this, so I think they may be moving on from him either way.  I think the only reason he's still around is they want to give him the courtesy of potentially moving on his own terms if he gets a HC job rather than firing him.

Jace and Adams would make our off Deadly

I think they're banking on the o-line woes being a mix of poor play from some personnel, and too many coaches sending a mix of too many messages.

The more I think about it, the more I think we go with Amaro/Ebron in the first. I think they both just tick all the boxes of what Ozzie talked about this morning, and suit what we'll probably try to do next season (more 2TE sets, only with better TEs). And it explains their confidence of those guys being there.

Didn't Ozzie say he is against re-structuring and extending? Or maybe just re-structuring

It's really just semantics to differentiate between the two. In some cases (like Ngata) it might be even worse to extend him considering his age and level of performance. Adding more years and money onto a bad contract for a declining player? Yikes.

It'd be a shame to see him go imo. I think he was put in a bad spot this past season and deserved the chance to try again with a more talented group.

I'm on Twitter and I am absolutely laughing at every media outlet over reacting to what Ozzie said about Suggs. It's like they think he is gone automatically or something.
