2013/2014 Playoffs-Second Round Discussion

1,460 posts in this topic

I was a horrible 1-3. Couldn't get any other pick right.

Chargers @ Broncos: Chargers. I'm going with the hot hand and the hot hand says, whoever plays the Eagle in the home opener wins the SB.

Colts @ Patriots: Patriots. It's not as enticing as Brady vs Manning but Brady vs Rivers works.

The NFC has it's own little Super Bowl streak. Since 2006 the NFC division that matched up with the AFC East went on to produce the NFC Super Bowl representative:

  • 2006: AFC East vs NFC North; NFC SB team: Chicago Bears
  • 2007: AFC East vs NFC East; NFC SB team: NY Giants
  • 2008: AFC East vs NFC West; NFC SB team: Arizona Cardinals
  • 2009: AFC East vs NFC South; NFC SB team: New Orleans Saints
  • 2010: AFC East vs NFC North; NFC SB team: Green Bay Packers
  • 2011: AFC East vs NFC East; NFC SB team: NY Giants
  • 2012: AFC East vs NFC West; NFC SB team: San Francisco 49ers
  • 2013: AFC East vs NFC South; NFC SB team: Panthers/Saints?

Meaning........

Saints @ Seahawks: Saints bounce the Seahawks out of the playoffs for revenge from the last playoff game.

49ers @ Panthers: 49ers have a good vibe about them, but I think the Panthers pull it off. Steve Smith will be playing and their O is going to be hard to stop. Panthers/Saints face off in the rubber match to see who goes to Super Bowl XLVIII.

I think because the 49ers have their own version of Cam Newton that the Panthers will be easier to game plan against/stop. That being said, I think it'll be a really close game with San Fran pulling it out in the end.

I told a guy at work who's a Chargers fan that they will win the Super Bowl. He said no at first and didn't think they get past Denver. Then I told him about the Eagles home game streak, then it got him pumped lol.

It all makes sense of how every thing went right for the Chargers in weeks 16 & 17.

I felt like they are us of last year cuz they are getting hot and healthy at the right time and moment.  They are playing like a team that want to win......I was rooting for them hard since the wildcard...the beatdown on the Bengals show that it's just the beginning of the journey....They are hungry, humble, and determined....

If Denver lost again this coming Sunday, it is like 2 wildcard #6seed beat them back to back...lol...I love it...

I'm just excited to see all of the replays of Jacoby's TD that Broncos fans are going to have to sit through before their game.

That will haunt them for quite a while.

A lot of people on the Chargers bandwagon. I hope they win but I think it's gonna be Den vs Indy. Jim Irsay will be tweeting.

Car and Sea for the other side. Seattle is a complete team while the Panthers have the best MLB in the game. For obvious reasons I appreciate that.

after this weekend these 4 will remain:

Denver

New England

(could it be any other way with us not there to upset the balance of the force?)

Carolina

Seattle

I think I COULD join that one.

When I visited their stadium, their fans were super cool to me.  It was a great town to visit.  Plus J.J. is a Charger....

if broncos advance the other team in the championship will get no press whatsoever and they will be given the Lombardi by the press before the championship is even played

on the other hand it would be fun to watch the seahawks beat the broncos up if both make it to the superbowl

I'll take patriots -8 over colts, the under for the niners game who i have no idea who wins but i'll just say carolina, seattle by plenty as well and san diego over denver.

Reason #4: they're playing the Broncos.

Btw, am I the only one to notice the 2104 in the title? It's beginning to bug the paperclip sorter in me.

I noticed it too, my initial playoffs thread was always gonna be impossible to match so it's all good heh

lol @ the Bengals. Dalton and Marvin Lewis are such a joke. The only thing they accomplished this year is a worse draft pick then us when it's all said and done

Dalton is surrounded in weapons too and has a good Oline with a good defense. Flacco tore through the playoffs with less then what Andy had in that playoff loss.

I'm going Seahawks/49ers and Chargers/Colts. My heart is telling me Chargers but my mind is telling me Broncos...

I'm rooting for SD all the way.

I would have been alright with the Packers winning the SB but they are gone now. I also would have been alright with KC.

Have no interest in seeing Brady, Peyton or Indy get to the big game.

Have even less interest in seeing any more super hero capes on Luck, K-man or Wilson and then hearing about it until next year.

This is my okay-ness level of the teams remaining (high to low.  Low being absolutely dreading them winning):

  1. Panthers
  2. Chargers
  3. Seahawks
  4. Saints
  5. Colts
  6. Broncos
  7. Patriots and 49ers

I'd like to see Manning get another ring, but I absolutely hate Denver fans.  Same kind of goes for the Patriots, I can only imagine how big NE fans' heads will be if Brady gets a fourth ring, especially with their lackluster team this year.  And SF/Kaep, that's self-explanatory.

Just came back from the Broncos message board. Their fans are arrogant as all heck about the playoff game. If the Broncos lose they'll have to shut the board down cause everyone will be on suicide notice.

Flacco takes heat cause he had a good defense and running game. Wilson is in MVP talk with those same things and 0 criticism. With the teams left I want to see NO go all the way, I am fine with the chargers but I don't like Rivers. I hope Brees gets to play the Broncos and they blow them out while Manning throws another game losing pick 6 in the SB

I forgot about the Panthers. That wouldn't bother me either if they took it all the way.

You're nicer than me. I want Peyton and the Broncos knocked out in their first game again lol

If they lose again the first round I might go get me a Chargers jersey lmao. Title of the Broncos topic is "Chargers? Lol easy win". Whens the last time Peyton Manning had an "easy" game in the playoffs? lol.

My list is about the same. A 9ers/Patriots Super Bowl would do me in. At least rugby season's getting close.

Oh dear god I hope they lose.

Those fans still think the refs beat them last year, and had to get lucky to do so.

I mean, Manning winning would be better than Brady winning and all, but those guys give me an appreciation for Steelers fans. Gees.

Denver winning would be the worst case scenario for me, i really don't mind any other team that is left but in this order of who I would want winning the superbowl.

1.Pats (shocking)
2.Hawks
3.Chargers
4.Panthers
5.Niners
6.Saints
7.Colts
8.Broncos

Um.... well I don't know what to say. The article speaks for itself

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/08/lawsuit-filed-seeking-injunction-to-oust-chargers-from-playoffs/

At least he can live on 6 rings mantra for the next 8 months.

Here was my favourite part:

Spuck – presumably an aggrieved Steelers fan – filed the lawsuit via inmate mail from the Pennsylvania corrections department.
