2013/2014 Playoffs-Second Round Discussion

Could we change the title to "The 2014 'Chargers are officially making a run' divisional round thread"?

Seattle

Carolina

NE

SD

I'm a bit wary of picking teams who've already beaten their opponent earlier in the year. And I've done it four times here, go figure.

Haha I agree with everything here, one minor correction. It's 2013 Chargers.

I meant the 2014 playoffs. I can appreciate the single quote marks were a bit small though. So:

The 2014 "Chargers are officially making a SB run" divisional round thread

lol @ the Bengals. Dalton and Marvin Lewis are such a joke. The only thing they accomplished this year is a worse draft pick then us when it's all said and done

Although, I was hoping for a Chargers/Panthers Super Bowl, I'm not liking the chances of either getting past this round, to be honest. So, with that, here's who I'm going with...

Saints vs. Seahawks - Simply put, I cannot see Saints going on the road to Seattle and coming out of there with a win. It didn't happen in the regular season and it won't happen, again.

Colts vs. Patriots - Upset here; Indy will have a lot of momentum going into New England. And, well, the sooner the Patriots exit the playoffs, the better (Although, then again, another Super Bowl loss by them will be wonderful for Brady's "legacy".).

49ers vs. Panthers - It pains me to pick San Francisco; but, I can easily see Carolina (a team with little-to-no playoff experience) not be prepared for such a match-up.

Chargers vs. Broncos - Once again, I don't want to see this. However, since the Chargers already beat the Broncos in Denver, already, I don't like their chances to continue their destiny and pull-off the upset, again. They were given so many chances against the Bengals, today; yet, a lot of the time, San Diego failed to capitalize. They can't get away with such failures when they play Denver and expect to win.

So, I (somehow) see there being a 49ers/Seahawks and a Colts/Broncos match-up in the championship round. Looks like Roger Goodell gets his wet dream of another San Fran/Seattle game and the long-awaited Luck vs. Manning playoff game. For fans of none of those teams, we all yawn...

Dalton can say he went to the playoffs 3 years in a row. Lol. Now hopefully Zimmer can get some HC interviews and get out of our hair.

I like rivers and I wish he could take out Denver but for the afc championship game I see Colts and Broncos. I would love to see panthers seahawks two defensive teams two good qb's . but I think your probably going to be right and I will be wrong

I was a horrible 1-3. Couldn't get any other pick right.

Chargers @ Broncos: Chargers. I'm going with the hot hand and the hot hand says, whoever plays the Eagle in the home opener wins the SB.

Colts @ Patriots: Patriots. It's not as enticing as Brady vs Manning but Brady vs Rivers works.

The NFC has it's own little Super Bowl streak. Since 2006 the NFC division that matched up with the AFC East went on to produce the NFC Super Bowl representative:

  • 2006: AFC East vs NFC North; NFC SB team: Chicago Bears
  • 2007: AFC East vs NFC East; NFC SB team: NY Giants
  • 2008: AFC East vs NFC West; NFC SB team: Arizona Cardinals
  • 2009: AFC East vs NFC South; NFC SB team: New Orleans Saints
  • 2010: AFC East vs NFC North; NFC SB team: Green Bay Packers
  • 2011: AFC East vs NFC East; NFC SB team: NY Giants
  • 2012: AFC East vs NFC West; NFC SB team: San Francisco 49ers
  • 2013: AFC East vs NFC South; NFC SB team: Panthers/Saints?

Meaning........

Saints @ Seahawks: Saints bounce the Seahawks out of the playoffs for revenge from the last playoff game.

49ers @ Panthers: 49ers have a good vibe about them, but I think the Panthers pull it off. Steve Smith will be playing and their O is going to be hard to stop. Panthers/Saints face off in the rubber match to see who goes to Super Bowl XLVIII.

your making me nervous about my picks .....I saw some crazy elimination thing on you tube and it said the panthers were going to win the supebowl , then the whole  whomever plays eagles  first game of the season wins the superbowl.  and now this  lol I went 3 for 4 this week next week im not sure

The Bengals don't rep the AFCN well in the playoffs.

Anyway,  I'm taking:

Carolina

New Orleans

San Diego

Indy

May go 0-4, won't be surprised, but I really lost interest when we didn't make it anyway, and I was pulling for the Pack because they're my son's favorite team.  Sometimes I just think "anyone but the Broncos".  lol

Keep in mind that at least one of the four home teams in the divisional round always loses despite getting the bye week.

Colts upset Patriots

Panthers over 49ers-cause I can't stand Kaepernick

Broncos over Chargers- the chargers on sunday just did not take advantage of the gifts Dalton kept giving Manning is going to crush them.

Seahawks at home that's tough. plus they talk the talk and can back it up.

Seahawks /Panthers

afc  - I know the whole narrative of cold and manning but what better way to end his career with the season he had an another ring and I don't even like him

Chargers though have the hot streak going and they did open in philly . at least one team off a bye is gonna lose it will be Manning I trust brady more .

good luck to all afc teams

Manning is signed thru 2016 (though the Broncos can cut him before the 2015 or 2016 seasons to void the contract.  No way this will be his last year, even if they win the Super Bowl.  He's playing better than he ever has right now.  I'd say he'll be back for the next 3 years barring major injury.

I can hope .I am sick of hearing about him but I do recognize his talent . as far as picks I keep going back and forth I like all four afc teams
