only one player in his rookie season has been able to accomplish this. Peyton Manning threw for 3,739 in 1998. Matt Ryan has 2,940, so he's pretty much a lock. Flacco is at 2,410 and needs 590 yards. He needs to average about 196.7 yards a game from here on out.

Sounds like a tough task especially when he has some tough pass defenses ahead of him. At the current rate he is going, he will be a few yards short but he could easily have one or two huge games. I'm going to be a homer and say he will reach it, and be 3rd on that list! B)

Considering who we're playing for the rest of the season, maybe not :( but i think that he'll get awfully close. Flacco PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of yardage came in garbage time against the Jaguars... so I'm thinking it's definitely a possibility...

It would be nice to say he did, but we're a blue collar team and we dont need thrills. Getting the Ws are more important. I'd rather he go for a TD a game or better. I don't want to see him making costly turnover trying to break 3,000 or our D falling behind and Flacco having to put up a lot of yards just to come back.

However goals are always good to have and if anyone can do it, Flacco can :D

I hope we RUN the friggin ROCK hard into december leaving nothing but a trail for Joe to walk behind as we plow straight into the playoffs!
But he'll probably average 180 passing ypg for the next 3 and will pick it up barely. i still voted no lol

my sentiments exactly. I think that our style of play and the way our offense is built wouldn't allow for Flacco to throw for too many yards.

flacco has only thrown for over 200 yards in 4 games this year. don't hold your breath. i'm not taking anything away from him, but i'm just throwing the facts out there

2410 yards divided by 13 (games) is 185.3. I think. I did that in my head and I've had a few. 570 yds. in 3 games is 190 per game. It would take a just above average performance to achieve that.

The Steelers are of course stingy, Woodley and Harrison are frightening and their secondary has been overachieving, Dallas has Ware, Ellis, Newman, Hamlin, etc., and Jacksonville has....well, Stroud and Mathis. It would be difficult, but he SHOULD be playing his best ball of the year with his experience, barring the rookie wall. It's about 50/50, I'd say.

Took the words right out of my mouth...

He threw for 192 in his first game against Pittsburgh, he should throw for at least 210 against Dallas, and assuming we have the Jax game in hand, we'll most likely be resting our backs the second half (and getting Joe some extra reps in preparation for the playoffs) by throwing a bit more.
He should hit 3000 with room to spare B)

if we're resting our backs in the jax game.....we'd be resting flacco too. in fact, i think flacco would be the first to take a seat in that game. we have 3 starting capable RBs.......only 1 field general QB

Nah, since we're in a heated playoff race, I don't see us resting Flacco...at the same time, we want to rest whoever we can...of course each back could end up with like 10 carries each, but I think it's more likely that we simply try to win through our passing game

I'm going to be realistic here, personally I don't think so. The next two games will be tough for him to pull 200 yards for each of those games, Jacksonville he may pull more than 200, but it will depend how much more than 200 he will need from these next two games. I do think he will be extremely close, and I definitely think it's possible.

God do I love this....after so many seasons of "Now starting quarterback...Kyle Boller"...we have a legitimate discussion of a 3k passer. The best part of this whole discussion is Joe's response " Yeah 3k is a lot no big deal...alright guys I am going to pick up Dark Knight to watch tonight...You have any other questions?"

i think he'll do it because i honestly feel that us winning against the steelers and cowboys will depend on how well flacco plays and i think hell need to throw alot.

He's averaging over 185 passing yards per game.

Flacco will easily crack the 3k. Dallas' pass defense stinks, plus they have a good offense, so chances are Joe will have to throw the ball a lot. Same goes for the Steelers game. And Jacksonville has a terrible pass defense.

I think 3k is very realistic...remember the first time Flacco played Pittsburgh, he threw for 192 yards. He is much better now than he was then. Dallas is a lock to throw over 200 yards. And Jax, well, he could very well put up his first 300 yard game.

Well, the key is to beat the Steelers on Sunday and win out the season, take the first round bye and see where that puts us... We'll get our rest (and bye week) then. B)

Give Steelers secondary more credit. Troy leads the league in picks. Ike Taylor shut down Andre Johnson, (Santana and Randy) Moss, TO, TJ Houshy, Edwards, Buress/Toomer and Wayne. He was assigned to cover TO and Randy Moss in consecutive weeks and held them to a total of 7 catches and 75 yards. Letting up the least yards through the air isn

I think he may get 3,000, but that is not the most important stat. The Win is the most important stat. Manage the game well and get the win. B)
We might be able to give the Steelers more credit if there weren't a thousand Steelers fans at every turn begging for people to worship at the altar of yellow and black. Yeah, yeah. You have a good D. We get it. Now round up your fellow fans and get back to your own board.

Like rabbits these guys... popping up everywhere...
Whats wrong with worshipping the Steelers?

what are the Ravens fans feelings?
Even against a Jacksonville Jaguars team with a losing record, I doubt it'll happen. 326 yards is too much to ask from ANY QB, rookie or vet, especially if Derrick Mason sits out.

But...if Flacco can pull it off, then I'll be overjoyed and might actually cry tears of joy. Again. lol.

Nothing... except half your fans aren't from Pittsburgh, can't name more than three players, and don't know any of the history of the team. It's mostly, "yellow and black iz kool!" out there in hankie nation.

As far as Flacco's chances now, he'd have to have his best passing game of the season - not a priority at the moment.

I said it way before now, it won't happen. I wish it would, but I don't see it happening. I'll re-iterate what I said, i'm just being a realist here.
