RB Cierre Wood - good or bad?

I'm not familiar with this player but his background appears somewhat iffy.  What is your take on whether or not this signing could be a bad or a good thing for the Ravens.  Or is this a non-factor?

Young guy. I don't see him being a homerun threat but he could be a solid Cory Ross/Musa Smith option behind Pierce.

 

EDIT: Not size or play style, just saying a "no name guy" that can contribute during injuries. Think Ross and Smith circa 2007.

He'll probably stick around and compete for the 3rd RB role in training camp.  He performed pretty well and made the Texans, but then the whole weed/hotel scandal with Sam Montgomery happened and he hasn't found a home since.  I liked him as a prospect last year.  He's got good size, so hey, maybe we'll find a diamond in the rough.

LOL I fell victim to that one too.  I think most of us follow the whole process more, making us more susceptible to this excitement and over-blowing the meaning behind these sorts of roster moves.

I actually liked Wood in the draft so getting him here isn't a bad thing in my eyes. I'm not hyped about him but he has me excited at the very least. He's a decent RB.

He was fast and tall.  I can't lie, I was hoping he would be successful, one of the players I rooted for, but let's keep that quiet.

He actually made the Texans original 53 man roster, but was released due to that weed scandal.  He performed pretty well and beat out a slew of guys in Houston, but that weed thing killed his value.  He's probably a bit better than the average reserve/future signing.  In the end though, the same results.  He'll compete for the 3rd RB spot.

One could make a case that he is the best RB option the Ravens have right now if he could play this week and we were in the playoffs.
