@RavensInsider: Patriots are signing LeGarrette Blount to two-year, incentive-laden contract, makes vet minimum this year according to a league source

Had a feeling this would happen.

Panthers cut CB Antoine Cason. Anybody know how well he has played this season?

I believe I saw that PFF had him rated as the worst CB out of all qualifiers at one point.

Yeah Panthers secondary isn't much better than ours so if he isn't good enough for them, he won't be any good.

@RavensInsider: Chiefs cut Phillip Supernaw

Pssht, too cap heavy?  Someone clearly doesn't understand the gravity of re-signing tremendous name value like Supernaw!

;)

End of an era in Baltimore. Bills just signed WR Deonte Thompson off of our PS.

Has there been a PS more poached than ours?  I feel like we lose a lot of guys that way.

I'm not sure, but we've certainly lost quite a few guys this year and in years past. I'm interested in those numbers.

Simon, Fleming, Bynes, Supernaw, Thompson, and Jones

6 guys this year.

I think all of them had an impact except perhaps Supernaw. Isn't Fleming a starter or something like that for the Chiefs?

So much for hoping to get Chris Harris Jr. in free agency.

Not a big deal, let Denver screw up their cap more. $42.5M over 5 years? No way Ozzie would have signed him at that much. Plus if he would have hit the open market, he would have gotten way over paid.

Thanks Elway, now Jimmy Smith's agent is foaming at the mouth seeing this deal.

How are the Broncos going to sign the Thomases? I don't see how they are built for any long-term success.

Besides aren't they in "win now" mode anyways? To answer your question, I could see the "Capgate" comments coming.

*Checks Spotrac*

With the projected increase to $138 - $141M for next year's cap they would actually be fine. Manning is due $21M, the next highest salary is LT Ryan Clady at $10M, Von Miller is owed $9M. Ware is owed $8M. T.J Ward is due $7M along with Talib. G Louis Vasquez is due $6M annd Emmanuel Sanders is due $5M.

Those players combined is $73M used of the projected $138M - $141M. So Denver is fine, and even in 2016, so they are built for long term success. They very well could keep both Demaryius and Julius.

The Denver model (aside from, you know, having a hidden file cabinet) is to front-load contracts if I'm not mistaken. The end result is guys having a surprisingly low cap hit, but they'd also have to pay out more of the contracts (ie, less savings from cutting a player at the end of his contract).

Again, that all comes with the "if I'm not mistaken" caveat.

Dt: knighton and unhrein

WR : welker and d thomas

TE: tamme, green, and j Thomas.

FS: rahim Moore

Backup ss: Quinton carter

Starting wlb: Brandon Marshall

Starting center and left guard : Montgomery and franklin.

Denver will have spots to fill or will spend most of that cap to resign their own ( if they don't get away with cap cheating again)

Except Brandon Marshall is a RFA so he's technically signed to them as they will put the highest tender possible on him.

Knighton/Urein: Knighton is someone they probably like to keep but could easily find a cheaper alternative. Urein is just a backup, cheap and easy to replace with a rookie.

Welker/Thomas/Julius: They will let Welker go, I think they get a deal done with one of the Thomas' and the other gets the Franchise Tag.

Tamme/Green: They will probably keep Tamme since he was brought in because of his familiarity with Peyton and will need someone to back up Thomas. Green can also easily be replaced by a rookie.

Moore/Carter: They put a lot of money into T.J Ward so don't expect them to put much toward keeping Carter as his backup. They can replace him with a rookie or cheap free agent signing. As for Moore, it just depends on how Elway feels about him.

Montgomery/Franklin: I'm not sure how Franklin has done but they could easily upgrade at C with a better player from the draft or via trade, etc.

So while it seems Denver is losing a lot, they really aren't.
