This is the worst thing to happen to Dwayne Bowe's career.

Dwayne Bowe is the worst thing to happen to Dwayne Bowe's career.

Exactly. And Joe's big contract looks pretty handy at the moment.

Especially considering the load Joe and the passing offense have carried on this team compared to guys like Wilson and Smith.  Smith just eclipsed 450 passing attempts for the first time in his career, and Wilson barely topped 400 this year - Joe has had at least 490 passing attempts every season except his rookie season - Joe and the passing game are a much bigger part of this offense than a lot of people realize.

Rams cut michael sam

He also cleared waivers as well... Bills C Eric Wood blames ESPN.

Ross Tucker tweeted "Michael Sam performed much better than most expected and still isn't even on a practice squad"?

Eric Wood replied.. "blame that on ESPN. No one wants the distraction".

I fully agree. He hurt himself by coming out. With the media heavy on that issue as it is today, no team was going to take a chance on him while risking the media distraction.

Not just ESPN but every major media outlet. That attempt of the Oprah network to follow him through his entire camp probably didn't rub the team right either. I think it's such a disservice to all other players that are cut when a 7th Rounder is making breaking news for being cut and clearing waivers.....

It bothers me as well. It's only because he's the first openly-homosexual player. I could care less about his sexual preference. I only see offense, defense, and special teams. Right now, he's not on any and he has done nothing in the NFL to deserve the attention. At least Tebow had a reason. This is entirely different. I think it's unfair to a lot of very talented players who chose to not reveal their preferences, whether they are hetero- or homosexual.

Well even though they drafted him in the 7th round, the Rams will not sign Sam to their practice squad. So now let's see how ESPN and the rest of the media will spin it that he wasn't even signed to the practice squad.

Am I the only one surprised BJGE hasn't been signed yet after getting released by the Bengals? Thought for sure someone who would at least want a goal line back would sign him.

I am not surprised about that as much as I am Clemons being unsigned. A good FS is rare and while Clemons isn't a playmaker, he doesn't make plays happen for the other team either. There has to be something we don't know going on with him. At least with BJGE, you can just say that RB is fairly deep and there are plenty of guys at RB who got cut who are relatively decent.

Also FB got hit hard again with a few really solid guys getting cut.

Pretty sad that ESPN and the rest have basically made me hate someone I don't even know. I cringe at even hearing Michael Sam's name. And it has NOTHING to do with his sexual preferences. Zero.

Today is the day where I'd expect most signings to happen.  Tomorrow, most teams will be back at practice and will likely want the 53 guys they'll be entering week 1 with out there.  There will also be a heavy load of signings on Monday when vet salaries won't be guaranteed for the year.

Just like how all the buzz around Tebow makes you not be able to stand the guy. That is the media for you though, just want their clicks and people just keep reading those articles so they keep printing them.

Exactly! There's a freaking segment every single day on ESPN for LeBron. It's almost obligatory. Do we really need to hear about him being a recruiter? Is that newsworthy??

It seems the WWE is getting into the mix and well just in time as MNF returns next week. WWE has invited Michael Sam to Baltimore for Monday Night Raw where they say he will have a open mic and be allowed to tell his story.

Now we will see where Sam's priorities are. If he accepts, then we know he is in it for the publicity and doesn't care about playing football. He will only be inviting more media attention by doing this meaning he's as much to blame for killing his career before it even began as much as ESPN and the rest of the media.  If he declines then just maybe his focus will be on football, not publicity.

I saw that, if he shows up, i'm not watching Raw next week. I'm SOOOOO sick of Michael Sam.

I just face palmed when I saw that. I was like, come on enough already.

I almost feel like even though teams don't want him because of the distraction, I want some team to sign him so ESPN can get that out of their system and be done with it.

We have extension news at this hour in the morning with JJ Watt getting paid around 100 mil over 6 years with 51.8 mil guaranteed. It works out to around 16.67 mil per year. Overall not a bad deal for a player as impactful as him

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11451373/jj-watt-houston-texans-reach-agreement-6-year-100-million-deal

That's elite QB money. I don't know what to think of that deal. On the one hand, he's probably the best defensive player in the league. But on the other hand, that's elite QB money.....

Eh. He's a future HoFer, who is the heart and soul of that team. What else do they have going on in Houston? It's not like they have an actual elite QB on their roster.

If anyone deserved to get paid it's Watt. Nobody has been better in football than him. He's the most dominant player in the NFL. Wish we got him.

I disagree that it is elite QB money considering all the contracts that QBs have signed recently. 20 mil for me is about where it starts nowadays. I mean when Alex Smith and Andy Dalton are being paid more per year, that is telling enough lol.

For a guy like Watt who does what he does at 3-4 DE(although I would imagine he is a 1 gapper in the Wade Phillips scheme), that type of production is crazy.

If there is one owner in the NFL who loves media attention more than anyone else it is Jerry Jones. Thus why they are bringing in Michael Sam to sign to their practice squad.

To be clear, Dallas would like to sign Michael Sam to practice squad, not active roster. First things first. Physical Wednesday.

How does this move not surprise me lol

Also did anyone else read on that piece on him and how he said picking Manziel would make the Cowboys relevant for the next 10 years?

He's also the owner of the team, that is projected to have the worst defense in the league this season. They can use any defensive player they can get, even if he wouldn't be a starter anywhere else.

I think the Packers might give (or should give) Josh Bynes a strong look. Their run defense got destroyed last night. AJ Hawk is slow and sucks and Brad Jones looked terrible.

There are several teams that bynes would be an upgrade for. Giants cowboys packers and others.
