Steve Smith on Facing The Panthers

He was then asked about the possibility of playing against the Panthers in the future. The man who introduced “Ice up, son” to the lexicon last season didn’t disappoint with his answer.

I want to make sure that whatever team I go to, they’re going to get the best, in shape 35-year-old guy they can get. If that happens to run through Bank of America Stadium, put your goggles on cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere,” Smith said.

Smith said that now that everything is settled, he’s going to have a “cup of coffee and relax” before figuring out what his next step might be. The Ravens have already been pegged as a favorite to land Smith and while they don’t play in Charlotte, Smith might enjoy knowing they do host Carolina next season.

*per reports Ozzie is already on the phone.

He's a 400 pound guy that is about to turn 34 years old with no guarantee he'll return as the Wilfork of old considering his injury last year. We wanted him to restructure his deal and he didn't want to. My guess is he'll want to go where the money is, and I think only some JAG team will see the value in over paying a guy like that at this point.

The only thing that gets me fired up is Steve Smith's play on the field and how much of an improvement he would be to our passing game...and of course his statistical domination over his 13 year career.

Justin Tuck and his subway commercials are going to Oakland...signs 2 year $11M contract.

I don't get it for Oakland. What are they trying to do, use him as a mentor?

The more the merrier I guess...he is still a decent pass rusher.

How is this perfect for us? They overpaid again for what they've already be doing this FA.

Two teams in our division competing for the same player, wasting their cap money...don't see how that can be anything but good for us.

In regards to Alex Mack. The more money they spend, the less they would have to match any offer we give Mack. Meaning Mack could be signed to us thanks to Cleveland's stupid overspending.

Poor Carolina, I know they have a new GM but man to not even try to get a legit number two guy who can be a number one guy when Smith was cut is crazy.

Carolina shouldn't have never waited this long to find his replacement, now look who their starting receivers would be......

If Carolina were to a play a game tonight - and fortunately it does not - it's starting WRs would be Tavarres King and Marvin McNutt.

Yeah but are the raiders anywhere close to competing in the next 2 years? Tuck obviously cares more about getting the most money he can, respectively so, but I don't get what's in it for the raiders besides maybe mentoring younger players I guess.

Yea he just wanted the most money he could get. He asked the Giants to match the Raiders offer sheet...but no dice.

Has anybody here ever heard of them prior to reading this? I know I haven't.

King was in last year's draft from Georgia I believe. I'd have to refresh my memory on the other one.

Two late round picks from the last few years.  King from Georgia and McNutt from Iowa.

Wow the Hawkins deal by the Browns is worth 31.3 mil. That is insane.

Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider 41m

Andrew Hawkins' $31.3 million restricted free agent offer sheet has been executed with the Browns, Bengals have five days to match

31 mil for a wr 3-4?? Most overpaid player ever?

Typo on his part.  Pretty sure it's $13.3M

It is right up there with Ware lol. Hopefully the Browns get him too, it would give us more of an opportunity to steal Mack(or at least let someone ouside the division have him)

Captain Munnerlyn is joining the Vikings.  Jason Hatcher is joining Washington.  Ted Ginn is joining the Cards on a 3 year deal averaging $3.25 a year.  Bills got back Scott Chandler.  Phil Costa signs with the Colts.
