That about sums it about.  Textbook Ozzie target, since cuts don't affect comp picks.  If he is cut, there's a really good shot we get him.

Wouldn't mind either..... He's not terrible like Huff was..

Though I would say if he does bust I don't ever want to have another safety named Micheal who went to Texas ever agin

Update: Oh Tucker's agent is going to eat this up or for our sake hope he realizes that it's just typical Jerry Jones.

Bailey is being given a 7-year $22.5 M deal with $7.5 M guaranteed. He also gets a $4.5 M signing bonus and $3.4 M per year in new money. Somehow I like to think Jerry didn't do well in Math when he was in school because he is shelling out a lot of money despite the fact they are $22 M over the salary cap.

freakin rediculous for a kicker, Jerry Jones thinks he can construct a superbowl caliber team with his checkbook, and of all the players he could have got he goes and overpays a kicker. As I saw this news break yesterday all I thought was damn it now Ozzie is going to have to pay Justin Tucker more than that. If Dan Bailey has a bad year next year which could definitely happen...this may be the cherry on top for Jerry World.

I hoped to keep Tucker around $3 million a year, but this complicates things.  Nevertheless, the Cowboys will be cutting some big names.  Miles Austin is as good as gone, Jason Witten is probably getting cut too, maybe Doug Free as well, and they're still not going to be under the cap.  The Cowboys are going to absolutely suck next year.

Any other Stevie Brown fans? 8 picks and 2 forced fumbles in his first real starting opportunity as a FS in 2012, he is coming off an ACL injury but could be cheaper because of it and is still only 26 so should be able to recover fine.

I don't know about him.  It's been highlighted on this board that a lot of those picks in 2012 were bad passes or just being in the right place at the right time.  Plus with the ACL, I doubt he'll be at full strength next year.

Giants OL David Diehl retiring after 11 seasons in the league., via Schefter.  Honestly, based on his PFF grades I'm surprised he lasted this long.  He must've been on the decline for some time.

Any of you guys seen anything else on potential cap casualties around the league?  I think it might be useful to keep a running list, since those are likely targets for Ozzie and it's always interesting to see who is 'expendable'.  Sidney Rice is probably getting cut, but he's always hurt.

Of the Giants safeties hitting FA I think I would prefer Ryan Mundy...he played great stepping in for Brown and I think is a little more disciplined on the back end. I would happily take Brown, but I have watched a lot of Giants games and he is very aggressive to the point of giving up chunk yards. Not sure we can have that with a young guy like Elam back there, and he is not at an Ed Reed level to justify the risk

Well Justin Tucker's agent now has a contract to look at for when he is up for a new contract. The Cowboys have signed K Dan Bailey to a 7 year contract through 2020 worth a little more than three million a year.

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/282426/cowboys-lock-up-k-dan-bailey-through-2020

Why do we have to follow what Dallas is doing? If justin cost too much, we gotta find a fresh kicker. Cowboys can have fun being salary capped and being losers anyday

It's how negotiations work - players and FOs look at previous contracts that are comparable but also suit their cause.

Fortunately we still have a couple of years for the market to right itself. I think out of Tucker, Zuerlien and Walsh, whoever signs the first contract will set the tone for the other two.

Kirk Cousins has told the Redskins that he is open to being traded.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/02/report-kirk-cousins-open-to-trade-from-washington/

He probably wanted to be traded the second he was drafted. This is mostly Shanahan's fault for picking a QB in the 4th round after the best part of your draft went to picking your QB in the first round.

Nick Collins, former Packers S, is eyeing an NFL comeback.  That's crazy considering how serious his neck injury was.  I wouldn't risk it.

Seahawks WR Golden Tate has said he is willing to take a "hometown discount" in order to stay with the Seahawks...

"I would rather take a little less to be happy and win ballgames than to take way more and go to a crappy city where the fans don’t give a crap about the team."

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/282855/golden-tate-i-would-take-a-hometown-discount

Also the Chiefs are interested in extending Alex Smith's contract, Redskins have began contract negotiations with OLB Brian Orakpo.

If it's a restructure, how much more will he cost down the line?

And when does the real FA period start? I'm actually not too nervous about this one. :D

Basically, 2014 for Fitz is a "contract year" as Rotoworld Calls it. He now carries a $23.6M cap hit with $16M in total salary in 2015.

Have to wonder if Patrick Peterson will be getting a new contract with the extra cap space created by the restructuring.

How prudent of Golden Tate. Then again, I'm one of the few people who believes the law of diminishing returns applies to money.

The Falcons have cut CB Asante Samuel and LB Stephen Nicholas saving 6.5 million in cap room this season.

http://nfltraderumors.co/report-falcons-release-cb-asante-samuel-lb-stephen-nicholas/

Don't worry, elite QBs like Matt Ryan can overcome all personnel deficiencies. That's why they've always made the playoffs and had winning records while he's been there.

@davebirkett "The Lions have re-signed C Dominic Raiola to a one-year deal. I'm told he gets a nice raise after taking a paycut to stay in Detroit last yr"

That is a Lions beat writer.  Anyone hoping would be our veteran center, he is now off the market.  That doesn't leave us with a lot of good options, unless the FO wants to take a risk and pay De La Puenta.

See if he still feels like that in March. Of course his discount could be .0000001%.

In stunning news, Matt Cassel who would have been a guaranteed starter for the Vikings, has opted out of his contract with the Vikings. He had until Friday to void the contract and has done so.

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/282862/report-cassel-intends-to-opt-out-of-contract

I seriously wouldn't be surprized if he resigns with the Vikes with a payraise.
