Daryl played well for us but he's replaceable, especially his run defense. We need someone who can go downhill to complement Brown.

Broncos really tightening up their D.

I do question their secondary still.  Wouldn't be surprised if they looked for a CB or safety.

Yea how much money does Denver still have to work with? Shii

They started out with about $24 - $25 mil I believe.  Lots of space to work with, though that Ware deal will certainly take up a large chunk of that space.

Wow...... $20M of the $30M is guaranteed??? That is worse. The Broncos got Shaun Phillips on a one year deal last year, got 10 sacks and only cost $1.4M. Now Ware has injury history and your giving him $30M based upon his name.

Ware just made a bunch of money on a name basis.

To be fair, Ware is much better than Shaun Phillips. This deal is a gamble that Ware's numbers and injury occurred in Denver solely as a result Denver giving him no help and being awful. Its a gamble they needed to make.

Michael Johnson, who was considered to be overpaid by Tampa still got 1.4 less per year than Ware. Denver could have signed Bennett or Johnson for cheaper. I know what they are trying to do but that was stupid on their part.

They've gone through almost all of if the contracts are evenly structured

Ward - 5.5

Talib - 9.5

Ware - 10

Total = 25 mil

Obv it wasn't structured this way due to draft picks having to be factored in, but still for 3 players that won't significantly improve your defense (except for maybe Talib), its a lot of money.

Geoff Schwart's deal was 16.8 mil with 6.2 guaranteed over 4 years. Dammit Ozzie, this one you definitely dropped the ball on.

Steve Smith was cut by the Panthers

That's our guy!

Steve Smith is a fiery competitor who wants to win.

I assume we're going to get him for cheap to be our slot receiver.

Lamarr Houston got paid 3 mil per year less than what Ware is getting and only 5 mil more overall even though his contract is 2 years longer. That is hilarious that Denver paid Ware that much.

I think we're saving up that money for a center.

Even still, theres no great center this FA thats worth that kind of extra money. Schwartz has versatility to play guard and tackle (both at an average to high level). He would have been a steal.

Ozzie, leave the Monroe press conference and get Smith's agent on the phone now!

Finally I will bring up the Dumervil contract where he got paid 3 mil per year less and only 5 mil more overall even though he is a Raven for 2 years longer. I probably could go on but I think this is enough to get the point across. This is why the Ravens generally don't like to spend in this time frame and I applaud them for it. In Ozzie we trust!!!

Rodger Saffold deal five years $42.5 million, $21.5 million guaranteed, $5 million bonus, $7.875 million first-year salary fully guaranteed

Listening to NFL Network talk about what Golden Tate can bring to the Lions...... they forgot to mention his ability to turn an interception into a touchdown.

Looks like Tate to the Lions might happen. That would eliminate a team needing WR help from drafting one ahead of us.

Can somebody please explain to me how the Denver Broncos have this kind of money to spend on free agents? I thought we had more cap room than them, yet they are going out and getting a ton of top talent for top dollar. We better add Alex Mack and hopefully Steve Smith or another offensive threat this off season

They had ~ $24 mil to our $17 mil.  And as was pointed out early in this thread, they've pretty much spent all of that money today, unless more cuts are to come.

People are wanting all these players.... and comparing us to teams that are looking at top dollar guys...  Well, eventually they will be in our shoes and then some....  They're gonna have to pay guys like RG and Luck, and Kaepernick....  then guess what.....  CAP DOOM....
