Am I the only one sitting here thinking about how many of these players with big contracts will be cap casualties in a couple years?

Especially talib

They're going for it all in what seems to be Peyton's last year. I can't really blame them, but they are going to be hurting for cap real bad in a few years. Poor Brock.

Have to wonder if they will use these signings to lure Decker back and persuade him to stay to win a Super Bowl with them.

Jacoby Jones is in the the Giants building as we speak.

Looks like the Browns are the front runners to sign RB Ben Tate. Could sign as soon as today.

I would love to know what plan Ozzie has for WR because I can't even begin to guess. I have no idea if he is thinking about letting Jones walk, just waiting for the draft, will pick up one much later, or will grab a big name before the end of the week.

They have no interest and no need really for decker. Not going to pay a fourth option.

yep, money's getting dry trying to fix their D to bid too much on a position they can easily cover via draft

No wonder why the Bucs are trying to get rid of Revis........

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer 8m

To reset, significance of the 4 p.m. deadline for the Bucs -- If Revis is on the roster past then, it's a 3, and not a 4, going to the Jets.

That was the worst trade/signing of the whole offseason last year. Lovie is remaking this team into a winner.

Seems Revis will end up being released, Browns were wanting him but Revis won't lower his salary.

Browns pursued CB Darrelle Revis via trade, but could not complete deal because Revis would not agree to pay cut. (via media reports)

Jared Allen willing to retire if he doesn't get the money he wants.

Jared Allen wants his fair value after averaging 13 sacks. I’m told he’d be at peace living his life without football if he doesn’t get it.

Saffold was the only egregiously bad contract they have made. Howard probably got overpaid, but his play has warranted it. 5-6 million a year was about right. DMC IMO was a great signing. The real issue is that the Raiders chose not to retain their own talent digging themselves into a deeper hole. Here is a list of FA they could have signed that probably would have improved them significantly

O-Line

Geoff Schwartz

Eugene Monroe (seriously)/insert any LT other than Saffold/Albert including Veldheer

D-line - Melton, Hatcher, Houston, Art Jones - They could probably have signed all of these players and only spent 1/4 - 1/2 of their cap.

Secondary - They could have signed a guy like Talib or Verner which would have helped their secondary tremendously to pair with Hayden. While it would have been a bad signing in terms of money, Byrd would be great to pair with Tyvon Branch

I mean the Raiders didn't have to blow their entire cap this FA period or Day 1, but they let some players get away or didn't attempt to sign some players that they in all liklihood needed to get to improve, Instead the opted some very low key, very low value signings that doesn't make up for the talent deficiency created by losing their own guys.

Seriously Mckenzie has one shot to fix this now- Trade for/Sign Darrelle Revis. It sucks because he will screw them in the end, but its the only thing that will allow Mckenzie to make marginal signings like Allen or Tuck at pass rusher and be a semi-competitive team. They need to address one side of the ball in FA so they can fix the other side in the draft.

Cowboys have signed DT Terrell McClain to a 3 year contract.

Giants are close to re-signing LB Jon Beason.

With Peyton at the helm, and the spending spree for the defense, Broncos could very well do what Dan Snyder has failed to do every year, buy a championship.

So glad we aren't playing the Broncos next year.  Looking at the moves so far, I think we have a decent shot of winning all of our home games.  Away games look pretty scary.

Denver just overpaid for Ware big time.

Yep, no wonder why Jared Allen is threatening to retire. They were willing to give Ware that much but not Allen who I think fits the 4-3 better than Ware.

Trying to avoid the Super Bowl hangover I guess.

Broncos are loading up big time. I really really wanted us to be able to retain Smith. Besides being a good player he has a good attitude & work ethic.

Would be a great pickup for any team, and the Broncos have enough money to spend on him.  Wouldn't be surprised to see him playing at Mile High next season...unfortunately.

Tbh this Broncos team isn't any better than the team from 2 years ago, arguably worse considering they had a younger Dumervil and Bailey. While Talib may replicate a younger Bailey (unlikely given his health concerns can only be magnified in Denver), Ware is definitely not Dumervil. Ward was a nice pick up regardless, but Ihenacho wasn't a liability

The Broncos must feel they are a player or two away from a championship, but the truth is they are still a weaker team defensively. Miller is coming off an acl tear late in the season. Same with Chris harris leaving them woefully thin at corner and linebacker. Tbh with Decker gone, Im not very worried about the Broncos. Even if both come back as the same player, the ceiling for that team is the one for 2 years ago. Not overly impressed.

Yeah. I mean it is bad when Michael Bennett, who was considered the top FA by some, signs a deal that is 2.875 mil/year less than what Ware is getting and is 1.5 mil less overall while being a year longer. I don't care if they are trying to avoid the hangover, an overpay is an overpay and this sure is an overpay.

Denver just overpaid for Ware big time.

Wow...... $20M of the $30M is guaranteed??? That is worse. The Broncos got Shaun Phillips on a one year deal last year, got 10 sacks and only cost $1.4M. Now Ware has injury history and your giving him $30M based upon his name.

Ware just made a bunch of money on a name basis.
