Expectations for Joe Flacco in the offseason

134 posts in this topic

The same expectations as the first six offseasons.

Work hard hone the craft, do private workouts with recievers to get on the same page, work on weaknesses to try and become better, study film.

Meh.....last time Flacco advised Ozzie on WR, we ended up with Doss. Just take Ozzie out for a steak and tell him to do his thing

...and the Oline...except maybe he needs to buy them all ballty's $10 a month gym membership. ..they need some more muscle upfront lol. With these guys though, I bet they'd spebd their time in zumba classes

With an emphasis on studying film and growing a rapport with whatever new crew of WR we bring in this year.

Shocked? Amused in a good way would be more appropriate. Do you think there's something wrong with the way he reacted? I thought it was cool.

I'm sure his mind was on a thousand other things, like what just happened? He's a normal guy that just happens to be an NFL franchise QB and he had just won the Superbowl. Judging by his reaction, I doubt the MVP thing meant a whole lot to him at the time, at least he wasn't thinking about it when the guy told him "that's your car".

Didn't mean it negatively, just thought it was weird.

He should develop the Joe Flacco Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.

For real-
He should talk with Ozzie about letting some one else look at WR talent

Smooze Ozzie to give up the BPA theory for one year and bring in the best OFFENSIVE player available.

Go out and buy his own offensive line and tell the FO that he ain't rolling with this Castillo mess no more!!

That's brilliant? I guess Aaron Rodgers (and a whole host of great franchise players) taking on global causes and making changes in communities throughout the world really hurt their abilities to lead and grow as individuals. Your opinion is that tell everybody else how they should do their jobs and 'buy' people to make himself look better? Sounds like that would really help develop his leadership skills.

I'm glad Joe Cool is so much more classy than that. On a much more serious note, what is consistent with all the players who have personally given back to better others lives when asked about it they say, "It gives me a more realistic view of life, it humbled me and allowed me to connect on a more humane level and it gives what I do and why I do it even more relevance".

Being a successful franchise player is one thing, but being a leader of men and making an impact on others is what makes legends and everyone around you aspire a little bit more to better at what they do.

What do you think? He should start the Flacco Center for Adults Who Don't Care About Nothing But Buying People And Wanna' Learn About Tellin' Everybody Else How to do Their Jobs? For real?

Be better then you were last year... start working with your WR core shortly after you get healthy.

Wow

Seriously bro recognize a Zoolander ref when you see one

The best part of being a Ravens fan is seeing all the good our players due in the community.  The benefit of all this is that we don't get the continuous DUI, assault, theft, etc etc that other teams deal with every off season.

Some people just keep bashing Flacco for not putting up big numbers like Brees, Rodgers, or Manning, but they are fooled by the fact that Joe is built to win with supporting casts like solid running game and good protection.  He is just being himself.  Manning and Brees both have better Oline and running attack.  The only exception in the world is Rodger who can still make plays with his "tofu" Oline.

Joe made some horrible mistakes during the season cuz he's too busy running for his life...yeah I just said and haters can laugh now...

This off season Joe can focus on getting healthy and that's all...

The rest of the team and staffs need to put together a better game plan, better protection, and running the ball better.

PS: Don't some of ya feel tired of hating? especially at your homeboy....love is anecdote for everything in life...chill.....

It's cool. GRG. Just acting as a challenge flag booth review official...so to speak. Agreed. Joe's main thing is to just get healthy.

How about, stop biting your fingernails and pulling your hair on the sidelines when things aren't going well.

MAN UP!

Go over the aerial shots with your receivers. Make them better and learn from each other.

Listening to preston and the guys on the fan, they basically said Harbaugh and Biscotti off the record stated that they want Flacco to put in more time with the receivers this off season. They can't force him too but they would like him too and they can't do it at the facility. They also said they want him to sit on some offense meetings in the off season, again, can't formally invite him to the facility he would just need to show up at the right time.

After 6 years, he should be knowing to do this on his own. The investment the front office put in you was based on potential, not past performances. Flacco said the timing was off with his receivers. Well, fix it!

When people question his ra ra leadership stuff, I don't give a crap. But I do understand when people are concerned about him being a leader in the sense of taking the young guys under his wings, putting in the long days at the office, basically putting his team in a better situation to succeed.

Hopefully he takes the front offices suggestions. I think he will, seems like a smart guy. If he doesn't, I won't have any sympathy or excuses for him if he has another rough season.

Well, good point. But, Flacco has worked with his guys before, especially with Pitta, as well as Mason and Heap in the past. He was also, I believe, one of the key organizers in setting up the team practices during the lockout. I think he needs to work with his receivers more, but I'm not sure if he's the one to blame for the lack of chemistry.

Also, the main problem with the wide receivers is their inability to beat man coverage, especially press. Very little chemistry can do to help that.

Derrick Mason put together the practices at Towson.

Our WR need to work on their route tree and separation ability but really we need the OC to get more creative.

I agree with you.  I would think it would be a no brainer!  Something Flacco should have been doing on his own.

How were Brady's stats last night? He lit the Colts up right?

Speaking of the Colts. Anyone still want Luck over Flacco?

They stole our show! (3 headed monster)

It's so hilarious to see tommy just fold and fall whenever it looks like he will be hit. HOFer?  smh

Luck is talented and will be good for a long time, but we are very fortunate to have Joe. His poise and calmness is what separates him from the pack.

For me, I can answer your 2nd question with just one word - - Yes!

I think Luck will be a force in the NFL for years to come.  He has great potential and a huge upside.  Luck and Wilson are both two solid second year quarterbacks with bright futures ahead.   In terms of Flacco, I would rather have him than a Dalton, Weeden, Gabbert, Smith, Sanchez etc....

1. Brady did not light the colts up, the running game lit the colts up because they had a solid, dependable line, which we don't have.

2. Luck had four interceptions in the biggest game of his career, albeit the last one was him trying to make a play late in the game, nonetheless he had four. He will be a great NFL QB, but I would still take Flacco because of the poise he has in big games, which is something you cannot teach.

I always thought it was hilarious that some people here would rather have Luck than Flacco after Luck's rookie season.
To me, Luck is a Matt Ryan clone. Not that I think Luck is a choke artist, I am just talking about their skill sets.

Just remember though, before anyone labels Luck after that awful showing yesterday, Flaccos first two postseasons weren't so hot either, and we saw how that turned out.

Its a given Joe has a big arm, but for what ever reason when he throws short lately balls tend to sail. He needs to develop his short passing gane, add some dink and dunk to his game. Taje what the defense gives you.

Andrew Luck and Matt Ryan are far from being clones skill set wise.Luck is athletic and huge with a big arm. He's 6'4,239 pounds and runs a 4.6(just 10 hundredths of a second slower than Newton and Kaepernick).Ryan is a lightweight(20 pounds lighter) pocket passer with little to no athleticism and a weak arm.
