Keeping Jim Caldwell: Pros and Cons

361 posts in this topic

Wave goodbye to Teryl Austin, guys.

I'll be honest, I've never paid much attention to him outside of the talk of Caldwell taking him to be D-coordinator. But in looking back, is this really going to be that big of a loss for us? Sure, the backfield was generally a strength for us, but in thinking about, they could never get on the same page in bunch formations and bubble screens...no one seemed to know who to cover, which drove me crazy all year.

Like I said, I may be wrong about him, but again, either our secondary players were bad, or they weren't being coached correctly.

Ravens can easily say no to any team that wants to interview Austiin

I don't think they can if its a promotion and most quality organizations won't do that either.

Anyway, congrats to Caldwell...well deserved. He seems to be better suited as a HC than an OC, anyhow. I'm willing to bet he'll get improvements out of Stafford pretty quickly.
