The Browns had interest in Can Cameron for OC. If they weren't desperate before, they certainly are now.

If they're drafting another QB, Cam is the perfect choice...for 2 years.

Not when they want to draft Manziel.

I'm not a Norv fan, but he should have some success with Peterson and that OL with his scheme.  I'm a big Mike Zimmer fan though, and I actually like the Vikings as my NFC North team.  It's tough to predict who will be the bottom dweller in that division though, if they Vikings improve they should all be pretty competitive.  Each team has notable weaknesses, GB's offensive line, pretty much all of Chicago's defense, Minnesota's quarterback and defense, and Detroit with Matt Stafford.  Whichever team does the best job of addressing their issues should win.  That division could be competing with the NFC West for the best division in football.

Thats funny you're saying Stafford is the Lions weakness. I personally think someone just threw a curse on them. Probally Toyota. Lol.

One of my favorite sayings comes from the great Adam Schein "The rebuilding since 1957 Lions....."

Well that's a bit unfair, their secondary is horrific as well and they could use another receiving threat.  But Stafford is a big part of their problems.

Not a firing: Falcons extend HC Mike Smith. Also extensions for their GM and team president.

Pretty funny since a good number of their fans know Smith has limitations and Dimitroff is an awful hipster GM.

Mike Smith should've been fired.  And Dimitroff isn't very good.  He was dumb enough to hire Scott Pioli as assistant GM.  The Falcons are past their window to compete.  They're stuck in third/fourth place until Brees retires.

Their GM is the reason they lack so much depth on that roster. Julio Jones is a star player and all but that trade was still not worth what they gave up. That trade is why they lack depth because they went out and stupidly bet all their draft picks on one guy.

I'm still not entirely sold on Rivera or the Panthers.  Just something about those guys that I don't trust.  They play in a division where the other three teams are loaded with potential, and no one wins it twice in a row.  That extension may turn out to be a mistake.

I agree with that.  With the Falcons implosion and Greg Schiano, I think they got lucky at the right time more than anything.

If I were the Panthers FO I'd probably have waited another year to see if Rivera can keep up his success with the team. You see flash-in-the-pan teams every year and you'd want to prove you're not one of them.

Not the worst thing to do I guess. But still something I'd have been more hesitant to do (although maybe that's why I'm not a GM).

The Dallas Cowboys have made some coaching changes. They have hired Scott Linehan as their passing game coordinator.

Cowboys announced the hiring of Scott Linehan as the team's passing game coordinator.

Update: PFT reports that Linehan will also be calling the plays while Rod Marinelli will become the new Defensive Coordinator.

It's not like NFL contracts are binding.  He can be fired whenever.

I don't know what they're doing with that staff.  It's a complete mess down there, and they're going to have a cut or restructure a lot of guys.

Browns hire Kyle Shanahan as OC.

Watch Kyle try to influence a trade to get Kirk Cousins lol. Then again, he probably agreed to coaching Johnny Football since the reported reason Chud was fired was because he was against drafting Manziel.

ESPN is reporting that the Browns tried to trade for Jim Harbaugh.  Wow.

Desperado.... Why don't you come to your senses. You've been out riding fences for so long now. (The song that best describes the Cleveland Browns)

It's actually kinda funny, there's some Twitter fighting going on now between different NFL guys with different sources over whether or not those Harbaugh to the Browns discussions happened.

He can still play Quarterback?

Whether or not this is true, and if it is true. I want to know why on earth the 49ers would consider trading Jim, let alone even listen to offers for him.

Second, are the Browns that desperate that instead of trying to find their own successful coach that they want to steal another successful coach from another team? That is just sad and shows even further how low the Browns have sunk since 1999.

It worked out well for the Bucs.

But the 49ers could see that pretty much anyone can win with that roster.  Not sure if that's true, but you could make that argument.

Yea thats rediculoussss I think its funnier that he nearly went through with it too because he and the 49ers brass couldnt come to an agreement on a contract extension. They say he wont get paid like a SB winning HC until he wins one.

The only thing that comes to mind is that Jim Harbaugh NFL bad lip reading video...*sissy voice* "I want it NOW!!!!!!!!!!" hahahahaha

Jim would go back to college before he coached in Cleveland.

Yeah you got a good point.

Harbaugh was actually considering it because Cleveland was apparently his favorite team growing up.

Part of why this almost happened was because there is uncertainty with Harbaugh and his future as the 49ers HC. 49ers feel they shouldn't pay him top money because they haven't won the Super Bowl with Harbaugh. They are offering a short term deal with lower guarantees with incentives that would pay him as a Super Bowl winning coach if the 49ers were to win the Super Bowl.

The 49ers probally don't understand that it won't count against theircap. Lol. Never undervalue a good coach.

That sounds pretty funny. I'd imagine it would be like watching several monkeys fighting over a banana.
