2014 Coaching Carousel

Looks like Caldwell is going to find some work. Good for him but I don't believe in any team he takes over.

I'd be excited, but that could lead to Castillo becoming our OC.  The Ravens don't exactly make great decisions in the coach hiring department.

Giants OC Kevin Gilbride will retire. Mike Sullivan is expected to take over as the new Giants OC. Interesting as Gilbride was going to get fired. Guess this is another situation like the Steelers tried to pass off Arians retiring to cover up his firing.

That would suck!!

I guess that means they're returning to the 4-3 defense. Good news!

How is this good news?

Phil Taylor, Desmond Bryant, and Rubin are all strictly DTs in the 4-3

Kruger and Mingo are really strictly 3-4 OLBs

Horrible move

EDIT: Unless you mean good news for Ravens of course

They also have Sheard who can play 4-3 end.

Mingo can be like a Von Miller.

Kruger on the other hand is gonna suck in this

Mingo can play that role, but he's not going to be as effective in it.

Either way, one of the DTs is gonna be the odd man out

Or rotation's galore......

But Kruger as a 4-3  DE is going to be hilarious

That sucks for the Taylor and Rubin because they don't get to showcase their talents as every down players. There is no way Bryant will be the rotational guy after getting that contract.

Anyway, they just spent an entire off season trying to build a 3-4 defense. I find it hilarious they just gave it all up after one year.

This is Lombardi and Schwartz we are talking about. Not the group of scientists who were in charge of the Manhattan Project.

Actually, the first sentence is applicable to this whole post... So I'm gonna leave it at that

You act like Kruger didn't suck before.  He was a situational pass rusher who benefited from playing across from a former DPOY who had one DECENT season.

Oh. He will be worse in a 4-3 lol... So much worse

He already had a miserable season this year.  All the Cleveland fans who were celebrating last offseason are going to be in for a serious rude awakening - I still can't believe how many Ravens fans were upset that we didn't resign Kruger or try to match that ridiculous contract Cleveland gave him.

Leslie Frazier is reportedly heading to Tampa to be Lovie's DC, via Josina Anderson.

Can we consolidate the coaching threads in the 2014 Coaching Carousel or something?  I don't know what thread is the right thread to put stuff in and it's bothering me.

Not sure what threads you think should be merged but I renamed this one. Ravens moves shpuld be in Ravens Talk. Other teams go in here.

Seemed like we were split between this and the Hot Seat for a while, then Chudzinski got his own thread for some reason.

Got it. Those are too different to make for good merge material, but they died anyway. I closed them to make sure they stay dead and discussion can continue in this one.

Thanks, that also works.  Less confusion.

I don't think we've hit on this yet, but Jeff Tedford has been hired as Lovie's OC.  The deal was finalized tonight.  He was Berkeley's HC for a long time.

Oline coach? Pretty please?

I thought he was a defensive guy?

Tennessee must have a coach in mind of who they want to get for them to fire him.

Wow, I thought they were keeping Munchak.  Wonder what changed.

They wanted him to make changes to the coaching staff, Munchak refused, thus he was fired.

#Titans have, in fact, fired coach Mike Munchak, team sources confirm. First reported by @mortreport. Wouldn’t make staff changes

Nope, he was Tennessee's OL coach for over a decade. As a player, he was a nine time pro bowler at LG for the Oilers.
