In Ozzie We Trust (2014 Edition) The Ravens Free Agency Thread

He should be a QB coach then. He was the most vanilla and conservative offensive coordinator ever and as a result our offense was at the middle or back of the pack. He held Joe waaayyy back.

When you fire an OC and promote someone who has little to no coordinating experience and you win a SB thanks to your offense...you know your previous OC was awful.

You must have forgot about Matt Cavanaugh. He was more vanilla than CC

Throw D'Qwell out.  That's an incredibly large contract...

D’Qwell Jackson’s deal with the #Colts: 4 years for $22M with $11M guaranteed, per source. Wow.

This will up the price for Daryl Smith. I've been saying the whole time he's getting a payraise.

I don't see Daryl getting this money but he will probably get between 4 and 5 mil IMO. He is going to be sought after.

Just saw Byrd is anticipating receiving in the ballpark of $9 mill per year...with that said, I still want him. Need to be able to stop the pass in order to win, I think he's the key to completing our secondary. I'd actually rather pay him $9 per then Monroe actually if I had the choice.

Been thinking about those "aggressive contract talks" Harbaugh was speaking of the other day. I seriously hope we don't resign Michael Oher if we can't reach a deal with Monroe. If we lose out on Monroe we will have holes at both tackle spots so Ozzie might want to secure Oher to fill a big need. I hope not...but you never know.

Yeah, no. Hell no! No GM in their right mind would ever pick the $9M FS over the $9M LT. The game is won in the trenches, and LT is 50 times harder to find than FS.

Agree to disagree. If Monroe was a top flight LT then I'd want him more naturally. But Bryd is a difference maker in the back field, something we haven't had the past 2 seasons really and it showed by the number of huge plays we gave up. Bryd would shore that up big time and force QB's to really think about throwing deep like when Ed Reed was in his prime. Plus locking Bryd up would still allow us to land a serviceable tackle like Collins. All conjecture anyways, who knows what will happen, Oz always seems to be playing chess.

To be frank, we would be in a great place if we used a large share of our cap room on a LT and the rest of our O line needs. Wholeheartedly agree, you have to build from the core.

I also bet the Colts throw a large contract to Eric Decker. They rely are pushing hard to win

Yeah.  That Trent Richardson trade paid huge dividends!

I never said they were making the right move (even though I like Trent), but they are trying. Is Reggie Wayne playing next season?

Yeah I know.  I just saw another chance to blast the Richardson trade and had to take it lol.

All he needs is a line consisting of Walter Jones, Steve Hutcheson, Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, and the late Mike Webster. Then he'll show you

Can never have too many adequate linemen. Oher isn't awful, just not great.

I saw some mock drafts and some guys from nfl.com assigned Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to us in the first round. Do you guys think that's a real possibility or we will target a FS in free agency? I really like this guy, but I don't think we'll use our pick to draft a safety.

Well the ravens dont look like they are locking up anybody but pitta before free agency. Monroe is good as gone when he hits free agency. He probably laughing at us of how we traded two draft picks for him and cant sign him. I give it to Ozzie , he had high hopes but Monroe will regret it because a sucky team will pay top dollar and he will never win a championship and be forgotten in time. I dont know what the future holds but if we cant sign a decent left tackle and fix the oline we will need some real help this season.

5 playoffs, 3 AFGs, a Superbowl, the worst season in 6 years is 8-8, we landed one of the best offensive minds in the NFL, resigned our star tight end (who as a reminder missed 12 games last year), and now we're apparently screwed because we haven't resigned Eugene Monroe with 4 days left to go before free agency.  I just don't get all the negativity.

Best FS vs maybe the 10th rated LT.

Totally agree with your post. The draft is lacking in true FSs.

Tweets Irsay. Master puppeteer/complete idiot. He's lucky Peyton fell into his lap.

Agree. and Monroe is not even a probowl calibur LT. Someone will pay him Jason Peter(6 time pro bowler) money. It just won't be us.

Free Agency hasn't even started yet!

The sky isn't allowed to fall yet!

Oz will hold the sky up personally.

There's a difference between being Pro-Bowl caliber and not making one, although, that's a terrible measuring stick.

Can anyone identify who this might be? Is this a new free agent we've picked up?
