No thanks to Sproles, too many concussions. Tate could be a possibility since he has worked with Kubiak with the Texans.

Tate wants starter money, and will get starter money. He's not coming here.

I think we will probably draft one or possibly sign a cheap guy like Felix Jones, but the bigger issue was the line - when both your running backs drop more than a YPC from one year to the next, I think the line is the biggest culprit and the biggest priority.

I agree and I feel 110% confident that we will fix the O-Line, just thinking ahead to after we fix the line problems. The next step is fixing/upgrading our WR/RB situation(s).

Just read the latest numbers and I'm pretty surprised actually. We have 25 mil. to spend on players and only 9 teams in the league have more cap room. The way some people talk you'd think that we have only 2 dollars left to spend. Looking forward to the guys Ozzie & Eric are going to bring in.

Most of the teams ahead of his are brown water trash or have a decent o line. LT and C aren't cheap pieces which is one of the reasons we have so much cap space. Also going to have to sign draft picks.

According to Mort, Nicks would be willing to settle of a one year prove it deal. I am against a multi year deal for Nicks but a motivated Nicks I'm all for. One year to show he still has something left in the tank and aiming for one more big contract...I'm down.

I really want the Ravens to make a splash on Tuesday even if it's just this one year. I want there to be rumors this next few days leading up to Tuesday about who they are targeting just like with other teams do I just love free agency and want it to help make us a better team this season.

I like Jones, he fit in well and didn't act like a merc for hire. I wish he had become a legit #2 here and got paid #2 money and we kept going deep into the playoffs, without his freak plays we wouldn't have won our last Super Bowl.

(Maybe Flacco should buy him a Bentley as thanks for his SB MVP contract...)

Great and accurate post.

This whole business about number 1, number 2, number 3 is way overblown.

The only stats that matter are games won. Jacoby wins games.

Great Post

Two years ago he was huge. Last year, like most of the team, he regressed. Problem is he is an explosive return guy but a very hit or miss receiver. Yes he makes plays in the right circumstances but last year he wasnt really as good a receiver as Smith, Brown or Stokely, and at times Doss looked just as good on returns -- so it's really hard to justify big money. He's nice to have but when you figure the "right guy for the right price" analysis you probably can't get close to the money he's going to want. You can get an adequate return guy and a better receiver for less money, so unless Jacoby gives the home town discount (not inconceivable considering he actually tattooed himself with a Ravens theme design at ine point) I don't see him staying.

If Tandon Doss remains on the team next year, we are in big trouble.

The only way JJ regressed last year was getting wiped out by Trawick and missing 5 games. He worked hard last off season to improve his route running and catching technique and was a viable target when he returned from injury. No WR excelled in the Ravens' pathetic offense last year and Jacoby did as well as could be expected and made some key receptions and plays.

I'm not sure what kind of $ he is looking for, but I hope it is in line with what we want to pay him. Jacoby is an exciting, explosive player and "plays like a Raven". We need him on the squad.

lmao at Doss.........scrub.

I'm not saying Doss is good. He's my least favorite of the free agents and I'd just as soon go with Smith, Brown, Melette and a 2nd round draft pick before I'd resign him, as long as we find up a return guy (Holiday maybe?). But given the salary differential each will comand, Doss might be seen as getting a bit more value per dollar than Jacoby. (we already know the castle valued him higher than Laquan, D Reed, Streeter, last year). Someone will overpay for Jacoby - not really even a question. But We know Ozzie won't. So either Jacoby gives us a discount to stay a raven or we use the money for something else. that's how we do business. Ozzie has a dollar figure in mind based on last year (not the year before), and that's all he's willing to pay. Right player right price. He's shown much better players the door over money, as you know.

I don't see it as a given that someone will "overpay" Jacoby and also think the FO values him more than you might think.

The Ravens re-signed Albert McClellan for two years. I just saw "the Ravens have reached a two year agreement with linebacker" and got all excited. Sigh

Yeah I got a little excited too lol.  But it's a good re-signing.  He's a great ST guy that can play some adequate defense in a pinch.  I'm happy he's sticking around.

Yeah, I didn't think we'd tender him but bringing him back makes sense. He's the 2014 David Reed.

Is say McClellan is a much better player than David reed. He has actually been a solid contributor to this team on special teams and has filled in at every linebacker spot and a valuable backup player.

Reed did nothing on offense.

Reed had some potential on offense. I just don't think he was used very well and I still stand by my theory that a WR needs to get comfortable early or they never really take off. But what I meant by the 2014 David Reed is a bubble player re-signed instead of tendered to avoid the tender and to get an affordable deal as well as security for both sides.

Oh yes. Agreed on that point.

I was disappointed it wasn't Daryl Smith

he might be next but Karlos Dansby just got 2 year 12 million deal at the same age as Smith which is a little more than i though he would get but probabaly get smith around that area of money 9 or 10 mill over 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully this is the start of our momentum coming back to us and the next thing we hear is Ravens re-sign Monroe/Smith/Insert FA Here.

That's the offer. He hasn't accepted yet. If they'd both go for that, I'd want the Ravens to reach out to Dansby

I really have a good feeling about 2014. I've been wrong before, but I think we'll win back the division and win a minimum of 10 games. Hoping we get Jacoby Jones back too.

Good re-signing in McClellan.  He is a good depth LB and a good special teams player.

Poor guy. I made a thread for him being re-signed and no one even posted in it. We usually do a thread when one of our own gets extended, re-signed, etc.

Thanks. Players and their families occasionally read these forums, especially when there is news. I'd like him to feel some love.
