Could Ravens look to trade a veteran?

Think of the casual fans though lol.  People like you and I understand the business side of things.  We're few and far between.

what's a casual fan I see this mentioned allot  on the forums . I see allot of nasty condescending quotes so I'm just curious?

The only way I'd be cool with trading Torrey is if we already spoke to him about a new deal and his agent is trying to gouge us (which is possible). In that case, if we could trade him and get a top ten pick (not sure about that one) or higher then I'd be all for it as we could draft Watkins then Amaro if we manage to keep our original pick.

What team inside the top 10 would give up their pick for Torrey anyways?  I see a lot of QB needy teams and not very many WR needy teams.

Someone that really just watches the game and knows the main players, of which Torrey would be one.  Most people on forums and stuff have a deeper interest in the business side of things in addition to the actual games.  We make up a very small portion of the Ravens fan base.  Casual fans are the primary consumers.

Generally fans who don't grasp the business side of football, salary cap etc.

We've seen it happen where a team waits to take a QB. The Bengals did this when they drafted Green then Dalton. Also, a team needing a QB could trade back and another team could trade up to get Watkins like the Browns did with the Falcons.

I would say the Rams, Lions or most likely the Bills. Bills and Lions have their QB.

I'd have to be guaranteed to get Watkins before I pulled the trigger.  I'm not sure the Rams or Lions are in position to get us a legitimate shot at Watkins, unless we're taking the Rams' #2 pick lol.  The Bills could use a receiver, but I'm sure they'd rather just take Watkins at that point.

Yeah I'm talking the Rams' original pick not their pick obtained from Washington.

Perhaps we'd set up a deal where on draft day we would make the trade. It's possible and the Rams have struggled to get a good WR through the draft. They also have two first round picks making them our best shot.

I'm really not in favor of trading Torrey. We'd lose what little veteran leadership we have at the WR position.

Yeah I'm not in favor at all, unless, as you said, we've already talked to his agent and the price requested is just outrageous.  Torrey's still a very good player.  I don't think he's being used correctly.

To some in here a casual fan is someone who just watches the games and knows a few players on the roster while there are supposedly more serious fans that get wrapped up in the inner workings of a franchise.  Some like that type of stuff and others don't bother with it but to me a fan is a fan regardless.

I hear you!  My wife and I drove up once for a home game in December vs. the steelers.  It was cold as ice that night!  I apologized to her and said NEVER again will I take you out there in that open freezing air.  Since then, we drive up for the earlier games played when the season starts when the weather is warmer.  We catch at least 3 home games a year with the exception of this year.

Heard from a couple places that the FO would entertain trading Torrey. Obviously we would need to get a very high pick in return, but I could see it if they don't think they can re-sign him after next year. Marlon Brown had a nice rookie season and while he needs a lot of development, Brown, Pitta, and a couple of high draft picks could make a nice receiving corps.

I doubt it happens, but I see the thought process.

where's the link?  this has not been reported by anyone anywhere. Aaron Wilson , Jason La Canfora OR Clifton Brown

I would be more pissed if we kept Torrey for a year and then he demands a Mike Wallace like contract that we would never be able to give him.

His agent is Rosenhaus, he'll definitely be asking for that kind of money. Jimmy Smith is in the exact same situation.
