Wow... the Browns organization is terrible. He made a star out of Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron with his vertical pass offense all while they rotated QB's and this is what he gets? Sad.

I mean he made BRIAN HOYER look like a viable option...

Technically Norv Turner did that.....

But this is great. We have a OC candidate.

And the Browns still suck :P

There's already a thread for this kind of thing, but I agree that it's a crazy decision. All they needed was to find a franchise QB and a WR1 in the draft next year and they were candidates to go deep in the playoffs. But Browns gonna Brown I guess.

I was thinking of a WR2 and then an RB on day two.

Not wrong though, looking forward to him picking up those pass rushers.

Yeah no RB is worth taking in the first imo

It's not but it's a bigger need than a #2 WR.

If they take Derek Carr, I'd go Davante Adams with the second first rounder

*Lombardi picks pass rushers instead*

Josh McDaniels and Jim Schwartz are  the front runners for Browns HC job

http://fansided.com/2013/12/29/josh-mcdaniels-jim-schwartz-cleveland-browns-head-coach/

Sad

Why was my first thought this: Josh McDaniels gets hired by Cleveland, spends (one of) their 1st-round picks on a(n) (over)hyped college QB (i.e. Johnny Manziel) and, after a year-and-a-half, he fails, again, as a head coach and is fired?

It's deja vu of what he did in Denver! Heck, what are the chances he demands Josh Gordon to be traded-away (like Brandon Marshall), simply because he has 2 strikes to his name?

You've got to be kidding me.  This season was the best the Browns looked in a long time, they had top notch coordinators on both defense and offense, and seemed to be trending upward.  And then they do this.  This is the surprise firing and it's a stupid stupid move.

I guess you can always count on the Browns to be the Browns.

Seriously, what the heck are they doing?  It's not like this was the old regime's coach?  I understand wanting to jettison a guy, believe me I do, but you have to have some stability in the organization if you're going to build something, especially considering where the Browns were starting from.

From "Coaches on the Hot Seat" thread

Along with the revolving door of people who coach for bad franchises like Jacksonville, Oakland, Cleveland, etc

It's basically a self-fulfilling prophecy. Those franchises are terrible, no matter who is GMing/coaching them.

I bet they take the worst qb in the draft.

They're taking Carr if he's there, otherwise it's Mettenberger.  Or maybe not if they're jettisoning that coaching staff.  Those QBs fit what Norv does.

I don't think it's fair to put  the Raiders there considering what they've done as a franchise and the huge impact they have had on the NFL. It's only been the last decade they've been an absolute joke.

Fair enough, I meant more in the recent years though. Same can be said of the Browns except extend their time window to the last two decades

I think they're on the right path now that Davis is gone.  When you can look at the tape and don't base your draft entirely around a stop watch, it's a good thing.

I agree completely.

Btw is the Jags best player ever Mark Brunell?
