The bright spot of 2013!!! Defense got better as the season went on! The showed up in the last game of the season and responded when the back was to the wall....Dean Pees and the boys deserve a lot of credit.

Jimmy smith finally put the mental part of the game together and Webb is still Webb.

Pass rush could be a little better at times....but our defensive backs played really well this season.  we re-tooled the defense well and will be in good position for years to come.

Offensively, I don't think Anquan Boldin would have made a major difference with the play calling and lack of run game. However, I will say I like the upside of Marlon Brown. But the defense was a pleasant surprise.

Long as the Steelers and Redskins have failed to make the playoffs....we don't have to hear trash talk during the post season or in the worse case a Redskins Superbowl that makes anywhere else in Maryland other than B-more and B-more county an unbearable place for a Ravens fan to be.

Story of the year:

Offense sucks for 90% of the game.

Defense keeps them in it.

Offense finally scores.

Defense blows the game.

The defense usually played well until the end of 3rd quarter ,4th quarter . Then it was a typical d meltdown . That 90 yard drive that finished up in the 4th quarter was very typical in this season . Yeah overall the offense was the culprit but the d can't finish games either

Without looking at the stats, could the 4th quarter meltdowns be a result of the offence not staying on the field long enough? Could be that our D needs to do a bit more endurance training this offseason.

the defense created 4 turnovers today!

you don't think the pats or broncos offense would have taken advantage of it? we kept the defense on the field toooooo long at times with the 3 and outs.

I think they can grab a few more players to make them an elite defense again but I thought they were still not bad at all on defense this year. It was more the offense turning over or keeping the D on the field that made them concede a lot in some games.

I have to give Ngata props. He looked better than he did early in the year. I think I was too hasty calling for his head. I definitely didn't like what I saw from Suggs this last game and apparently he had his struggles while I was gone.

Oh well. I don't think the defense was that great but they were the strength of this team this year for sure

Not at all, many saw it too.

They were better than last year and very good for the majority of games. But we all witnessed the late game collapses.

every defense gives up a drive or 2 especially when tired. How many give you 4 turnover in a clutch game so you can jump ahead?.....i'll wait.

the offense ain't capitalize on the short field positions and didn't convert on 3rd down today as well as all season.

I was hoping not to talk about the offense for one thread - so I won't. They had their own, and worse, issues and I'll leave it at that.

The defense often gave up late-game drives and scores, even when we had a favorable TOP. Aside from that, they were mostly very good. Our young players - Elam, Brown, Williams, Upshaw, got some valuable playing time and made some plays when they were in.

Brown helped rush that bad punt

Compared to the offense, they were great. Statistical they were very good. Situationally, they were terrible.

Late-game collapses and the pass rush going AWOL down the stretch aside, the D was solid. Some added depth, a true FS and continued development by guys like Williams, Brown, Jimmy and Elam should make them even better next season.
