Yanda, Ngata, Suggs, Tucker named to Pro Bowl Roster

37 posts in this topic

No one on our line should be going to the Pro Bowl. Suggs started off hot,but has been non existent in the second half of the season. Haloti Ngata? That's another guy getting by on reputation.

There are better options in the league. Hell there are better options for THOSE positions on our team (minus Yanda as they are all bad). I would of taken Dumervil over Suggs (but I didn't vote for either) and I would of definitely taken Art Jones over Haloti (which I did vote for).

So 4 probowlers for ravens eh? Still not a bad year. Dont agree w/ ngata & yanda getting in. Jimmy Smith should at least be in the alternate #2 imo

The pro bowl is a complete joke. Lavonte David is a Defensive player of the year candidate. His exclusion is shameful and indicative of how bad the voting really is.

Congrats to all four of our guys that made the Pro-Bowl.  Is Haloti still one of the best Defensive tackles in the league?  The answer is (yes) i rest my case.

It's really funny how the Pro-bowl selections come out and the Flacco topic gets closed.

SMH  This is our 120 Million dollar guy.  Smh Didn't even make it as an alternate.  Big Red made it though.  Flacco is just Flacco.  A lot of the time, not always, especially in the playoff run last year.  But a lot of the time, we win in spite of Flacco. .

I'm 50/50 on Ngata getting in. Yanda and Suggs got in by name alone this year. Tucker clearly deserved it. Jimmy and Daryl Smith were snubbed. Not even an alternate for them?

Jimmy and Dayrl(no Suprise) got snubbed.

They got the WR corp right.

Green
Gordon
Brown
Thomas.

I'll take those guys over Torrey

Yeah but it's so much easier to evaluate offensive stats vs. defensive stats - Gordon, Brown, and Green are the top 3 AFC yards leaders.  AJ has more yards than Thomas, but Thomas is tied for AFC lead in TDs, so I could see why they put him in over AJ.  Daryl actually has more INTs than Jimmy, so I could see somebody just looking at simple stats not realizing how good a season Jimmy is having.

Suggs was arguably the best defender in the league until he got injured. He still has the best numbers of all outside linebackers in the AFC unless all you do is look at sack numbers (he's 3rd in sacks by the way which is still elite). So to say he only made it because of his name just isn't true. Daryl Smith needs to play the run better, there's absolutely no way he should have made the Pro Bowl. Over Bowman? Willis? Kuechly? Burfict? Come on, it's not even close. Derrick Johnson didn't even make it and he should make it over Daryl. Not saying Daryl didn't play well, nobody wanted him before the season started, he played very well. But he's not a dominant linebacker running backs are worried about, compared to guys like Willis, Bowman etc.

Jimmy Smith didn't get hot until about the 2nd half of the season, that first half nobody talked about him making the Pro Bowl or even being a really good corner. Nobody talked about him period. You can't ignore that first half of the season yet with Suggs the couple games where he didn't put up good numbers (probably because of the injury he suffered) you're gonna make it a huge deal. ;)

Jimmy will make it next year, and I'd even say that right now he's probably the best corner in the AFC. Those other guys have struggled at times. Jimmy has been magnificent, week in week out the last couple months.

Great points all around.  Would have liked to see Suggs finish like he started, but the numbers don't lie.
