Week 17 - Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

suggs & ngata need to be fairly restructured. By fairly, I mean for the team. They are pretty high cap hits next year and did squat.

don't know what to do with Rice. Seems pretty obvious he is just done. Not sure how much of his remaining contract we'd eat if we cut him. Trade him? not sure anyone would want him.

Look at Marlon Brown. No injury to Jacoby and he would have never seen playing time. We'd have never known what we had. IMO that is the biggest problem with this organization. The failure to ever do plug n play with their higher draft picks. The only reason it happened with Elam was because of the massive failure of Huff. Even then, he's not playing the proper position.

We have to start taking chances with these guys we apparently think highly enough of to draft. It is what nearly everyone else does and we all go "wow! wish we'd drafted him!" well, we might have a guy like that but we won't see him for another 3 -4 years and then after a great season or two he's a FA and we wave bye-bye. Never getting any worth out of a player. It's maddening.

We're stuck with Rice, we eat the guaranteed money if we trade him too.

But I agree about us needing to do a better job getting our rookies on the field.  The salary cap necessitates the increased usage of the cheaper young guys.

This has been a long season, but I still can't believe its over. This season went by very fast and im kinda upset its over, but there is a lot of work to do.

We need a RT and a different center. Flacco took a beating this year, and i'm surprised he made it through the whole season. I love the comments about the 120 mill contract and what not, what the hell did he have to work with? Who would have played better than Flacco for us this year that was available? Flacco needs help. I still don't believe that Torrey is a true number 1. I think he is a good number 2, but will never be a dominate receiver. All your very good QB's have very good receivers. Look what Romo has to work with, and how many playoff wins does he have? Peyton has a ton of weapons, Drew Brees, Rodgers, Matt Ryan, the list goes on and on. We need a big tall receiver that can get open. Or someone like Boldin that can play the slot and get open. We need to get the running game fixed, hopefully Ray isn't done, but if Peirce looks better to start then let him start the whole season. We need some production from the RB position.

I think Jacoby could be gone, he played pretty well this year, but we can definitely replace what he did at receiver and we can find a good return guy. People may disagree, but if you watch his returns, the holes he hit were as big as a bus. He is replaceable.

We need to keep Daryl Smith and try our hardest to keep Art Jones. We have to keep our D intact because for the most part they were pretty solid this year.

Ray, Suggs, and Ngata need to take a pay cut. If they are true Ravens then they need to realize they need to take one to help this team out.

Oh you mean like the 50 other players not named Jimmy Smith and Justin Tucker? Yeah the O-Line sure earned their paychecks ,they were the best O-Line in NFL history, the run game was #1 in the league, and we have the best WR core in the NFL!

I didn't realize you needed to tell the self proclaimed best QB in the NFL not to throw it into tight double and even triple coverage which Flacco has done several times this year.

Off-topic, but SD-KC is tied 14-14... I think I'll seriously vomit if the Steelers get into the playoffs... That will just be the capper to a very bad season.

LOTS of Work will be done too I think.... .[/quote

Just watching the weapons, pass protection, as well as run blocking I see every other team has makes me sick. It would be different if our defense was completely dominant but they aren't even close. As much as we don't want to admit it a lot has to do with the average joes contract. I THINK he is making 28 mill next year or the year after. That hurts our team when he plays like a gump.

I would say you're correct, but our defense was ranked in the top 10 this season...  we were 26th last season.  Our defense did a good job of keeping a really wimpy offense in games this year....  it was really a deceptive season.  They kept us from getting blown out of many a game.

Maybe you didn't notice but every other pass he threw was tipped. EVERY SINGLE TIPPED PASS THIS SEASON HAS RESULTED IN AN INT. Man we really do have some ungrateful fans huh? Blame every single bad play this season on Flacco if that makes you feel better, it doesn't change the result of anything. It's a new year so instead of complaining about last season how about we look forward to next season. Did we really expect anything else? Every single bad part about this team came back and bit them in the final 2 games of the season, would you rather get blown out in the playoffs in front of 100 million people instead?

Some folks just don't realize how good that team is..... THEY have an O-Line that blocked and protected VERY well today. I saw several plays where Dumervil and Suggs were both held.... badly.

Yep said earlier that people can't accept their a better team

Getting absolutely zero pressure is unacceptable where 2 of our highest paid players are and where almost our entire offseason went

I agree 100%. Last year everything went our way-- this year ? Not so much. For some I don't think Joe can tie his shoes right, the man missed the birth of his second child so he didn't miss a game, played on a gimpy knee and never threw his O line under the bus when he could have and drove the bus over them. I think as fans we are a tad bit spoiled the last 6 yrs. As long as the Bengals and Broncos are one and done AND the Steelers don't make it Im good. Would I like to repeat? You bet the last 18 months or so have been a blast.

I'm actually more nervous about this than I was at any time today during the Bengals game... Things are not looking good right now.

well we could of have had an extra first rounder if we could have let Someone sign Flacco... that could have gotten us either a good wr or lineman... or gave us some space to structure a deal for a good tackle or guard and moved some pieces around. Instead we were stuck losing Boldin who had a great yr and with veterans like huff and spears and trading our 4 and 5 for a free agent lineman we could lose. We looked like we were rebuilding mode anyways why not rebuild around someone like tyrod or if he failed this year have a really high pick and get someone like bridgewater and build around him. Look we got lucky with Flacco he had places in place from the past bad seasons to come in and manage... now we will have to rebuild around him again through the draft and by the time we see some success we may be playing 30+ for a qb and a group of young guys coming up for free agency.

But we went with Flacco and a bad line with speed wrs that catch the ball about half the time and a bunch of free agents that we cant sign. So in my opinion we screwed ourselves betting on a qb that had a great run at the right time and none of his weapons coming back.

Actually, no.

The game went of reach just after Flacco & the offense tied it up and the defense forgot to take the field, allowing Cincy to march right down & score, a tipped pass (6'6" defender btw) and a bad break later, it's a 2 score game.

Then our brilliant OC decides to run the ball on 1st down - no gain - but let's do it again on 2nd down. Leaving 3rd and long in desperation mode. Cincy brings the house, as they should (but our brilliant DC never seems to do at all, ever) and there you have it.

From there man it is desperation, wing & a prayer throw it up and hope someone makes a play. Which is all anyone can do at that point.

So after we tied it and then the bengals score... what happens on our next drive... we put the ball in Flaccos hands and when do we score again... never. If had kept with game plan that was in before hand using Pierce and scott maybe we eat some clock and get a score. They also picked up good blocks on blitzs that Rice wiffed at. The game was out of reach and Flacco was the cause of it. We win the turnover battle and cant score tds. Like the forced throw to pitta in the endzone with pierce running the oposite way of all the defenders wide open and Flacco staring down his wr.

And who would be playing QB? Just wondering because we've now spent our 1st rounder we got for Flacco on a WR with no viable option at QB at all.

I'm sorry but are you seriously going to complain about Flacco's play and in the same post talk about building a team around Tyrod? You lose any credibility with that man. Tyrod was way worse than an injured Flacco last week.

I just told you exactly what happened on the next drive in the very same post you quoted. 2 runs for a net of 1 yd and a 3rd and long with the Bengals bringing the house down on Flacco. Not to mention the pocket completely collapsing one second after the snap. From there it is simply desperation mode. Air the ball and hope someone can make a play. Nothing else to be done at that point.

2 runs on 1st & 2nd down is hardly putting the game in Flacco's hands. Oh you mean once it is now desperation time they finally did? Whoopee. Exactly how our coaching staff has been all season and a big part of the problem.

Ravensdfan, just stop with all of this over the top defense of Flacco by trashing Tyrod.  There is no reason for you or anyone else in here to bring up Tyrod's name with any negativity about last weeks game.  Really?  You're going to mention the last 2 minutes of last weeks game?  Now?  Why not talk about what your boy Joe Flacco did THIS GAME!!  You know!  The one where Tyrod Taylor is sitting on the bench!  Joe Flacco tossed the 3 INT's today!  Joe Flacco achieved the franchise record in INT's today!  And, Joe Flacco tossed the season-ending pick 6 today!  Joe Flacco did all of that with Tyrod Taylor sitting on the pine!  The ship went down today with Joe Flacco at the helm (and rightfully so and befitting if you ask me) and people are bringing up Tyrod's debacle from last week?  LOL!!

Dude, the post I responded to was about trading Flacco & building the team around Tyrod. My response was appropriate to the post I was responding to.

Your defense of a man who has shown nothing any time he's taken the field in the NFL is as over the top if not more so than any Flacco defending.

You would think.  Are we doing enough stuff to get our guys open to rush the passer?  I know Zimmer is really good at designing blitzes to get guys open, but are we?

So your saying you let a superbowl MVP walk, a guy who is very good in big games, and is maybe one of the most clutch QBs in all of football for Tyrod Taylor? You serious? Flacco's contract will get restructured in 2 years anyway. We also wouldn't have got a first rounder for Flacco. Maybe if we actually give Flacco some good weapons and a good offensive coordinator then he would have more success. I would love to see what Flacco would do with weapons and a good OL. We can build up around Flacco. What you said would put this franchise back by about 5 years...

How many drops did Dickson have???  Your TE has to be able to catch.  Blocking is one thing...  We have Furstenburg out there too, don't forget...  who can block and catch...

Dickson was asked to do too much. Is Pitta asked to hold blocks, then run long seam routes to make difficult, defended catches? NO.

There is a reason Pitta does not start, and personally, I think Pitta's weaknesses are glaring without Boldin there to take on the physical abuse. The coaches and the FO severely discounted Boldin skill in this mish-mash, stupid offense.

Back to my point though, I didnt say that re-signing Dickson was a necessity, But truthfully, If they dont, the Raven will have a gaping hole in the offense. Second, Who is Furstenburg? Are you really putting a practice squad player's merits over a NFL starter? LOL.

today was a big game last week was a big game... how did he fair... not so well. Everyone gave him so much credit for last years run but over look how great the wrs played down the stretch. every team knows now how to beat him... blitz him and he will make a mistake well at least 22 of them. Dont let a wr get behind you because he will try beat you deep and forget the underneath route. He said himself when asked about his last int. He said that he could have checked to a quick route on the blitz but didnt want his wr to get tackled short... well if you have 8 guys coming with 2 deep safeties you are going to have a free break.

If we would have put the first round tender on him and someone signed him we could have matched or took the pick... I would take the pick. Rebuild this team... because That's what we have to do now... with limited cap and why restructure a qb in 2015 only to extend a contract for an aging qb that will be taking to many hits and past his prime... a gunslinger like Favre that had one superbowl played all those games in a row and broke apart more teams than he helped and throw more int than anybody Because he forced too many passes. They are always good to great qbs coming out every year and we are stuck with one that had 4 good games. A mvp that should have been given to Jones. He is the Eli manning of the AFC. Except Eli has more rings.

Yeah everything you said is correct....we should have got rid of Flacco and just literally rebuilded this team from the bottom. Have you watched our offensive line? They are terrible. Lets see you go behind our line and do better. Flacco is our QB, will be for the next 8-10 years probably, get over it. Your stuck with hating him that long.
