Week 17 - Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

3,605 posts in this topic

I've always been a Flacco supporter, but Aaron Rodgers is a guy who's had to deal with playing behind horrible OLs with no run game and injuries everywhere. The Packers may not have always been successful under Rodgers, but his individual stats have always been great.

I think people just expected much better individual performance from Flacco after last year's playoff/SB run, despite what the rest of the offense did. Throwing 22 INTs in a season is just not good any way you slice it.

Rodgers also has a team that in the 8 years he's been there spent 6 picks in the first 3 rounds on WRs and TEs.  The Ravens have spent 2 in the 6 years Flacco has been here.
Defense was strong until times they were needed because the offense did not get them off the field
In many of the games when the d could not make a stop , the games were very close . So maybe the culmination of earlier 3 and outs in the first half caught up to our D late in the game

I wish we could ban people from posting when they've proven they know zero about football and/or this team.

That defense we had last year? You mean the one ranked down in the 20's? The one that allowed the most points EVER in the history of the NFL for a SB winning team in the post season? The defense that nearly allowed the 49ers to COMEBACK from a 28-6 deficit to win the game? Man, that defense didn't bail anyone out of anything.

Get outta here until you've studied up some.

O so I take it you think Flacco is ELITE.  Flacco didn't do squat all year until those last 4 games. N yes the defense that rallied around Ray Lewis and played outstanding in the playoffs. N don't forget that superbowl game would have been a blow out if the lights didn go out and steal our momentum. And im not just talkin bout last year, im talkin bout over the years of Flaccos career. He has never stood out and shouldn even be mentioned in the same sentence as Manning and Brady. And I kno its not ALL Flaccos fault but he has played a big role. He came in the season as our best and highest paid player and did nothing. Brady lost his receiving weapons too and still got 10 wins this season. And don't get it f***'d up I been a Ravens fan it means nothing that I moved to Texas for work. N u can ask anyone that knows me that I have never been on the Flacco train even after superbowl 47

Biggest disappointments this year all come with:

Huge price tags: Flacco, Ngata, Suggs, Webb, Rice

Not as large but certainly larger numbers Dumervil, Oher, Yanda

How about comparing mark Sanchez to flacco?

Why would you even remotely compare what flacco is doing what Rodgers has done?

Not the one who made the comparison. Someone else said Rodgers looks good despite his o-line and therefore so should Flacco. I... disagreed with that.

so what did the packers do when Rogers went down.

Continued to win games with their backup QB.

So we have this, guys that don't understand the salary cap and how salaries work, and others who just don't know how football is played.

Some of you aren't trying to hate Joe Flacco hard enough.

Depending on the fate of the O-Line, WR's, and Run game this offseason I think so to. We can't be conservative this year in FA and the draft.
Resign Pitta
See if Jacoby is affordable
Resign Monroe
Restructure Suggs, Rice, and Webb's contract
Draft a new Guard, Center, and Right Tackle
Draft a "Boldin Esq receiver" like Landry from LSU.
Resign Daryl Smith
Let Oher and Ed Dickson walk.
Draft a RB in a later round
Draft at least 2 WR's
Yes, lots of work this offseason.

All that and flaccid would still suck & you know it.

Yeah when he's facing constant pressure while playing injured. No run game again but those are just excuses and I'm a Flacco apologist.

Everyone sucked today. We suck.

we were running the ball good with pierce and scott and even making good blitz pickups... then rice came back and the true flacco showed up and it went all down hill from there.

Can you pay that 30m a year contract of flacco in 2015 for ravens behalf? We'd appreciate it. I root for you to pau his contract

Now we're jumping to 2015? lol

I thought we were just heading in to 2014.

I don't know how all these other teams managed it all these years. Like we are the only team that had to pay a hefty contract to their QB.

ok how many gmaes did they win with Rogers out... they were losing more than winning against below 500 teams and because everyone else was losing to they are still in the hunt.

Laughable, just like the Ravens offense.

Sarcasm bud sarcasm..
Beat by a better team and some people can't accept that

That's a good point - Flynn looks like a pro-bowler on that team, but couldn't beat out a rookie in Seattle.

Really? Because he didn't suck last season with a lot less than that.

Brees was not this year, McCown wasn't this year, Tannehill wasn't this year, Stafford wasn't this year.....  I'll take wins over stats ANY DAY!

Yep, and then look at what happened to Seattle when they started getting some talent in there around Russell Wilson.

He sure the heck is paid the same!

I'm only going to say this once here because I cba repeating myself like I've been doing all season.

He isn't paid more than Rodgers because the FO thinks he's better than Rodgers (or Peyton or Brees, for that matter). He's paid that much because the FO needed stability at QB. If we didn't pay him that much, SOMEONE ELSE WOULD HAVE. And what then?

Do we pick up Geno Smith with our first-round pick? Do we hope to go 0-16 and pick up Bridgewater, only to begin the process again?

He's not a world beater on his own, but the FO needs to improve the pieces around him. He's not one of the top three, and he probably never will be, but he's well above average and he's worthy of being a franchise QB. That, in itself, was what warranted the big contract. Forget the nominal value, that gets skewed by the market at the time.

Hi Cawtious,  FYI in knitting, the stitch is "purl".  How about the heart in these Ravens now?

Thanks for the correction!  LOL.  Too bad this ended so badly.

They struggled. He's arguably the best player in the league. I never denied that. But Rodgers doesn't make plays by himself.

I like your thinking... and I think we already have a Boldin-esque receiver in Marlon Brown.  The kid could be GREAT.
