Week 17 Discussion (Other Games)

453 posts in this topic

This is it... the final week of the regular season is here. Teams are battling it out for playoff spots and playoff seeding. The battle for the first overall pick comes down to the Redskins vs Giants, in which could be Tom Coughlin's last game as HC of the Giants. Then you have the Texans facing the Titans. If the Redskins win and Texans lose, Texans would have the first overall pick and the Rams would be picking second, and vice versa.

Now on to the playoff games that matter......

Panthers vs Falcons: Panthers can take the number one seed away from Seattle with a win, Seattle loss and a SF win.

Ravens vs Bengals: Ravens are in with a win, and a Miami OR SD loss. Ravens hold tiebreaker over them so just need one of them to lose. Bengals meanwhile can clinch the 2 seed with a win and a Patriots loss.

Jaguars vs Colts: Colts can clinch the 2 seed and a first round bye with a Bengals loss and Patriots loss.

Jets vs Dolphins: If the Dolphins win, they need a Ravens loss to clinch the 6th seed. Hold tiebreaker over SD.

Steelers vs Browns: Crazy to think the Steelers can still make it but that banks on Ravens, Dolphins and Chargers losing in order to make it.

Packers @ Bears: What NBC should have flexed into SNF will see who wins the NFC North. If Rodgers returns, Packers win. If not and they think they can win without him, Bears will win and get into the playoffs.

Bills @ Patriots/Broncos vs Raiders: A Bills upset would help Indy or Cincy, while a miracle win against Denver by Oakland would help the Pats take the number one seed away from the Broncos.

Buccaneers vs Saints: Saints win, their in. A loss and Arizona win, means they are out and Cardinals are in.

49ers vs Cardinals/Rams vs Seahawks: 49ers can clinch a BYE and the West with a Seahawks loss. Seahawks clinch home field and NFC West with a win.

Chiefs vs Chargers: Chiefs are only going to play their starters for a series or two meaning this is a gimmie for San Diego. Will need a Ravens and Dolphins loss to secure the 6th seed.

Eagles @ Cowboys: The 3rd annual NFC East Championship Game is between the Eagles & Cowboys. Romo may or may not play, which means they could lean on Murray and the run game. Eagles just smashed the Bears and could ruin Dallas' playoff hopes for the third straight year.

Actually if they win and SD wins they are automatically in.

Thanks for coming Bears but your playoff hopes just went down the drain. Mike McMarthy announced Aaron Rodgers will start on Sunday. He also hinted that Randall Cobb could return as well, and Eddie Lacy is expected to play despite his ankle injury.

Packers are getting healthy at the right time.

i hadn't realized that the cardinals could possibly go 11-5 and miss the playoffs , maybe its time to change the way seeding is ,they are really playing good ball on the defensive side of the ball

Ravens to the playoff after Miami beats Jets and SD chokes.

SD's starters will choke to the second/third string of KC?

Basically as I don't see the Dolphins beating the Jets, if we lose, Chargers get that 6th seed.

At least one of them wins, and I think we'll probably lose. If it's a good Andy day anyway.

I'm a huge fan of Rodgers but everybody's picking the packers now and I don't like it for them.

Bears win.

It just takes one jarring hit to refracture that collarbone. I'm expecting a lot of cheap hits to
Rodgers.

Probably, but the Bears DL against the Packers OL is what happens when a stoppable force meets a movable object.

I hope McCown plays for the majority of the game. That will keep it competitive.

All the locally televised games in my area are gag-inducing, except GB@CHI...

Sunday Ticket is your friend... get it for next season.

Looks like Cobb could be back this Sunday too.  Might be time to change my pick to the Packers, but this game could go either way.  Tough tough call.

Not sure if anyone saw on Gameday Morning all the offensive league records that could be broken in Week 17, but it makes me sick. All these rules favoring the offense, no wonder why those records are falling today.
