Which loss hurts the most?

58 posts in this topic

All the losses to teams we should have beaten hurt but its a tie between the Green Bay and New England losses at home. Our team is better than both of those teams. I left the GB game knowing that we should have won and I watched the New England game knowing at halftime that we weren't going to win. At least the score of the Denver game was 17-14 at halftime. As a tiebreaker, I'd have to give the nod to the NE game since it was an embarrassing loss too. For those who picked the Bears game, da Bears didn't beat us. The two hour delay and the weather did. Duh! Who is hurt more by a delay? Is it the team who was leading when the delay occurred or the team who had no momentum?

I really think our season ended Sunday in Bmore. The whole team looked lethargic. I really thought we had a solid chance to win the game when it started w/o Vince Wilfork and Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. I don't buy into Harbaugh's theory that we ran out of juice with the short week. His purple cool aid is getting sour. If the team could not get motivated to play better in front of the hometown fans, I see no reason to believe their psyche will change now. A hungry dog hunts best and I think we have accumulated a lot of players who just are not very hungry. It is interesting that several recent former Ravens players are still in the playoff hunt, e.g., Daniel Ellerbe, Jarrett Johnson, Carey Williams, Bryant McKinnie and Anquan Boldin and several others have made a good account of themselves this year, e.g., Bobby Rainey. Paul Kruger and Ed Reed.

This season reminds me of a line out of Frank Baum's book "The Wizard of Oz," in which the wizard says "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain; I am the great and powerful Wizard of Oz." Isn't Ozzie Smith the real Wizard of Oz? I'm just sayin will the real Wizard of Oz please stand up? Resting on one's laurels is never a good idea. You can start by landing the big Texas A&M TE who is a former basketball receiver in the upcoming draft.

Boldin.

Oh, game...any one of them. Literally, any one single game that was a loss is actually a win and guess what? Season is still very much alive. But, well, we pooped the bed and now need help. Sad, sad little team we fielded this year!

Patriots game.

As fans, we went in with high hopes.  The stadium was buzzing, the fireworks were amazing, Tucker ran into the stadium as a hero looking to break a record.

That game in just about every way possible was a train wreck.  It would also make this Sunday's game so much bigger than it now is.  We would be riding a wave of momentum and the team along with fans would be pumped!

I went from thinking our team was just finally hitting their stride to now thinking I have been fooled this past couple weeks.  The Patriots really tore us a new one last Sunday.  They humbled every Ravens player and fan.  I don't think we will bounce back from that game.  It was a huge slap to the face and ego...

You said it. Just a bucket of cold reality over the head. That was not a humbling, it was a shaming. The Patriots told us we were getting too big for our britches and then proved it. I just hope that the team has some semblance of pride and self respect and can come back from that and snatch that sixth seed. I am not feeling too optimistic though.

Would have to say Week 1 and Week 16.

We ran into good teams likely to go far and they wiped the floor with us.

We were not worthy and don't belong.

Sure the Bears, Bills, Green Bay, Steelers, Browns were tough losses, but the losses to the good teams where we were ultra non competitive speak volumes about what kind of team we had.

Don't want to win the last game.  Take the loss, let the Front Office start working upon the draft. God knows they must make amends. Let's give them more slack to do it.

Poignant words

I blame the man behind the curtain. I want him gone in the worst way.

For me its clear. The packers game. All harbs in that one.

Couldnt agree more. Stupid coaching moves have cost us dearly this season. Impossible to deny that. We should have swept the NFCN this year.

Bills loss also disgusts me too.

The biggest lost of the year was when we signed Joe flacco for 6 years 120 million. I'm not joking either. I think he should have been retained but not at that price. Anquan was traded probably because of that contract, and flacco contract is back loaded so it just gets larger and larger.

Joe's cap hit is under ten million this season, and Boldin's contract was up after this season. If you think Anquan was traded because of that contract, you are crazy!

By the way, that was the price we HAD to pay him. If we don't pay him, he's a Brown right now, and he's probably kicking our butt with Gordon and co behind that nice line. 120 is the cost for a franchise guy. It's simple.

and the worst part is, if we let Joe walk, WHO would be our QB right now?

No one better that's for sure.

The Browns. We had a Bye. Division game. Conference game. We win that game, we aren't tied with Miami and Chargers right now and maybe we could of had some momentum going.

Absolutely well stated. I was SOOO worried the week we played the Lions, believing that IF we could just find a way to beat them, we'd knock off NE at home and tough it out in Cincy to kick the door down to the post season. NOW after the absolute implosion last Sunday against the Pats and listening to Ravens players and watching their body language this week I am VERY CONCERNED that they are a no show in Cincy.

I just hope that I am wrong about this as this team is just so inconsistent that I have not been able to figure out how they'll play from week to week this year any way.  :shark:

Yeah!  That loss to the Browns after a bye really pissed me off and to be honest, I'm still pissed over Sunday's loss as well!  That loss really hurt cause I went toe to toe with Patriots fans stating how Joe Flacco is a decent QB and how that Pitta is back and that the Ravens don't fear the Patriots and how that the Ravens match up well with the Patriots and how that the Ravens play fierce at home etc., etc., etc.  Only, to have to go back and face them in complete and utterly humiliation and shame after the "Beat down at the Bank!"  SMH!!  Can they win tomorrow?  Maaaan!  I don't know!  Let me say it this way; I hope so!

I'm gonna watch the Bengals Playoffs or Bust game and evaluate Flacco upon it.

It's a must win game. He's had enough time with his receivers.

Sure he's wearing a knee brace, but other good QB's have played with one.

If Flacco doesn't go 2-1 TD's to Picks and throw 60 percent completions and convert 40% on 3rd down, it will be time to reevaluate what Ozzie gave him.

It's starting to look like Boldin was Flacco.

Ozzie hasn't been setting any records lately.

12/23/13

A Ginger throws 4 picks and still wins.

The Steelers are about to go to the playoffs.

My QB is hurt.

My offense is trash

Dean Pees is still D Coordinator

I have no real playing making skill position players on the offense

I'm not even pissed over this loss today!  In all honesty...saw it coming!  And, that is due to how the Ravens have played offensively all season long.

What is disappointing to me; is the fact that the Ravens did not capitalize and take care of their own business when they absolutely, positively had to do so.  Last week vs. the Patriots...they failed!  And then today..vs. the Bengals.....they knew the scenario...THEY HAD TO WIN...and a Dolphins loss...the Ravens are in the playoffs; the Dolphins lose and yet...the Ravens failed!  Very disappointing!

There is no one loss that hurt the worst - all season I felt that this offense just wasn't good enough to compete.  Even if we made the playoffs, I don't think we stand up to the better teams - last year we had a lot of clutch plays made by offensive players, this year that hardly ever happened.  I just don't feel we had the right pieces or the right scheme to make them work.  Hopefully we straighten it all out in the offseason.

smartest reply to the whole "flacco is overpaid" debate. hope you don't mind if i use it .

This loss hurts the most.  All we had to do after this crazy season was beat the Bengals, who we beat earlier in the season.   Miami lost, which would have put us in no matter what San Diego or Pittsburgh did.

We truly pulled defeat from the jaws of victory as the Bengals tried to give this game to us.

This loss doesnt hurt me as bad due to the fact I had little confidence we would go deep in the playoffs, plus Joe was hurt and spent more time running for his life or flat on his back.

For the health, safety and well being of our quarterback, I am glad we didn't make the post season this year.

How in the world can any of you say the losses to Bills or Packers hurt more than....

The first loss to the Bengals?

The game is OVER.  All you have to do is not touch the ball.  Let it fall on the ground.  But instead, the amazingly coached Raven safety bats the ball UP in the air so that AJ Green can run under it and catch the hail mary.

All he had to do was not touch the ball and it hits the ground.  Or bat it down.  Or catch it.  But instead.... he hits it straight up in thr air.

Also.... that loss to the Steelers should be more painful than Packers or Bills because first of all.... it's the Steelers and it's a division game.  But secondly, they were HORRIBLE this year.  They have a lot less talent on their roster than the Ravens, with their saving grace being a veteran QB who understands the game.

That's 2 division games... both ugly horrible losses just like many this season.
