Espn Are They Right Or Wrong

46 posts in this topic

So on sportscenter they said out of ravens and colts they said we are both good, but the colts can make it farther cause they have better recivers and Peyton Manning . As much as i hate to say it the colts might be able to make it farther but i dont really know.

so basicly my quiestion is plain in simple will we make it farther in the playoffs than the colts

yes or no

Hello,

First of all, I hate to be the party buster, but the playoffs are not for certain yet. Our upcoming schedule is grueling, while the other wild card contenders of cake walks. I would be surprised if we make the playoffs.

Hate to say it, but Indy always beats us; the odds are against us if we have to play them (plus it is kind of hard to argue against the logic that they DO have Manning & Co.).
But, if there is an upside to it, it is this...last time we faced them in the playoffs, although we lost, we did shut them down offensively (Indy won 15-6, if you recall). So we are capable of keeping Manning in check, but our offense has to show up big time if we want to win.

first off, espn is always wrong ;)

secondly i think we will make it deeper into the postseason as long as we dont turn the ball over (we are doing alright on this thus far).

we pound it and eat up the clock (we are built for, and practiced in, this area. most rushes in the nfl i think. three vary diffrent backs in size and running style, that all have the potential to have a breakout game.)

most important is a stout d (noyhing need to be said)

plus payton has a history of coming home early from the postseason (except for that fluke season)

but this is just my opinion

Well... the colts do have better WR's then we do, and they do have manning. other then that our defense is much better then there's. Like they say defense wins championships.

Well lets not even worry about the colts or playoff yet. The steelers are coming to town and we need to beat them before we can even think about playoffs.

Agreed, they are what is important right now. We shouldnt worry about indy at all! They might get knocked out by the first team they face. Nobody knows, and thats why they play the games

First we have to make the playoffs, to tell who's going farther. Plus if we played them in the playoffs, they have our number, because they have better WR and QB than the average team. They came into our building during our 13-3 season, and stormed over us. They always do.

But I've heard a lot of people talk about how nobody would want to face either the Colts or Ravens in the first round. Both teams are afire.

True. We may not be the best team in the league but at the same time no one would like to face us in playoffs. Even if they(COLTS and GIANTS) destroyed us during the season.

Right. The way the schedules play out, I'll be ecstatic if we just MAKE it to the playoffs. Frankly, I'm ecstatic that we're contenders and that the season is exciting. Playoffs would be the icing [keeping your "cake" walk metaphor going...].

It's not impossible, but it's an uphill battle.

After the Steelers I dont see the rest of the schedules is that tough seeing the way the other teams have been playing. The Steelers are going to to be the tough game for us but I still hope we win the rest also.

I don't know about all of that, as far as I can see the only teams locked into the PlayOff Slots are the Titans, Colts, & Denver!

Titans get the #1 Seed and the Colts are at Denver! The Colts play pretty bad outdoors and if the weather is bad that day, it may be tough for them to get past Denver!

I agree!! Who knows what can happen when we are on the road to the superbowl.. our players our confident & so am I!! We have the advantage of playing both teams already and hopefully learning from our mistakes. If brandon jacobs stays getting a little banged up each week we have a for sure chance to beat the gmen!

what is this "if" we get to the playoffs?!?!?! we are going!!!! theres no way to keep us out cuz we controll our own destiny and we are starting to hit a hot streak on d like in 2000 when we won out the rest of the season and the playoffs we rising

The way they played against Cleveland (?) was sort of embarraing if you ask me. I mean not one Offensive touchdown. Their D saved them from losing that game 6-3. Peyton is one of the best QB's in the NFL but not this year IMO. Yeah they have improved since that game but I think that knee of his is giving him some troubles.

I agree, let's not worry about Indy. Right Now we have the Steelers coming to town on Sunday. I also agree with the fact they may get knocked out by the first team they play and the way it is right now Ravens play the Broncos, and Indy plays the Brett and his Jets. So Favre could pull one of those miracles and eliminate the Colts. But just think, we have 3 games left. We could get lucky and take the 5th seed from Indy or they could get knocked out of the playoffs, Colts gotta play the Lions, Bengals and the Titans, and Jeff Fisher has already said he isn't going to rest his players. If we can keep pace and stay tied with Indy, and we win the week they play the Titans, and they lose, we jump to the 5th seed.

P.S. This is all if we somehow do not get the division away from the Steelers.

You have it backwards, the Colts would play Denver, and we would play the Jets! 4 plays 5, and 3 plays 6! As I stated above, the Colts play like crap outside and I would like nothing better than see them go to Denver for their first game!

Because Manning has Lewis's number. I have a feeling we WILL end up playing them. I just hope its not the first game. I'd hate for that to happen to us again..

First off, three months ago, we weren't even part of any playoff conversation. I think this is actually a huge step forward! ^V^
Second, the media can't predict the future, but they get paid to try. Based alone on our past performances in the playoffs and against the Colts, it doesn't look "good" for us.

But honestly, how many people thought we would even be above .500 this year, with a rookie head coach AND rookie quarterback that LUCKED (for lack of a better word) into the starting job? 8-8 would have been satisfactory for me, cuz I love my Ravens no matter what. But I'm THRILLED that we're even in the playoff race to begin with! And it's not like we're doomed to the wildcard race either! We can still top the division! This is a new Ravens team! TEAM! I love Coach Billick to death, but he just couldn't get it done again. Harbs was part of the answer, Flacco was part of the answer, Cam squared was part of the answer... IT'S A TEAM EFFORT!

The Media is just a show, and they will flip flop ten times either way in ONE WEEK if they had to. What matters is what goes on during the games. I have yet to see the roof on our potential. No one knows how far we can go, and that's the beauty of it. Weaseling your way through the playoff ranks and picking your opponents for fear of a knock-out punch is not the mark of a great team. Showing no fear, taking on all comers and knocking them down to the ground, THAT is the calling card of a great team. That is the calling card of the Ravens!

Yes we will basic reason we can play outside in snow rain sleet hail fireballs ect they cant they need perfect conditions as far as ESPN and the rest of the national media go they no nothing about the ravens what they basically do is look at the box score and if the ravens win Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are awesome if they lose The defense is old and they are rebuilding. They take no time to research or watch what is going on with the ravens because we are not the sexy team. The Titans have their two RB's, Cowboy's are the Cowboys, Steeler's are the Steelers, Indy has Peyton and Dungy, and so on and so on they look at us as an old and boring team so the national media for the most part pay the ravens no attention. Now they have to do their job and do what they think will give them the most ratings but with their lack of knowledge of what is really going on down here in Baltimore they are not truly a credible source. I mean really how come not one time the season did this Brand new o-line, Leron McClain, Rookie QB and Head coach not get any type of 5 min story anywhere in Football when all the other one's did right now the ravens along with a couple other teams are the ugly stepchild or Cinderella of the NFL in the media's eye.

No they did not storm all over us that game they did not even score a TD McNair made a bad decision in the Red Zone and we were plagued with stupid turnovers the whole day. This a totally different team from that day, this is a totally different team from when we played them earlier this year. Flacco is a totally different qb then he was from that day this offense is evolving everyday so their is no telling what will happen if we meet them in the playoffs

Who cares? If Brandon Jacobs is healthy a 110% we can beat them. The game against the giants the ravens were just too excited and tried to do too much that is the only reason the game looked so bead but it really wasn't.

I agree with you that we are a different team from 2003 by far. But I was just pointing out that the Colts have our number no matter what the circumstance was/is. If you want to talk about this year, they have our number now too. They crushed us on their home field when we were still pretty healthy in our secondary. If by some chance we play them in the playoffs (which if we both get in as wildcards wouldn't be until the AFC championship game), we'd have to play on their field again!

As far as the 2006 game. We were the favorites with a 13-3 record, on our home field and we let them score 5 times (mind you they were all field goals), but I left feeling dissapointed. So yes, I would say they stormed over us.

Who cares, what they think? Really do you expect them to actually go out on a limb and pick the team with the rookie HC and QB that lost to the other team earlier in the season? Wouldnt that require that they actually be able to think for themselves?

I love how the bucs lost this week and there still ranked above us. thats a joke, sorry. well if we beat the stealers, every team in the NFL wil fear the birds of darkness. then the ever hating espn-rankers will have to put us in top 5!

It depends which team is HOT going into playoffs. Right now both teams are, but can both teams remain consistent, and on a roll? I hate to say it, but I can see us beating ANY AFC team to make it to the Super Bowl, except if we have to face the Colts =/

We ditched Billick and the "boys" are trying to play "nice" so we're getting an ocational mention.

Still, any love at all from ESPN is remarkable. Given our QB history, they're understandably shy to jump squarly on Flacos wagon.

My 08 Raven story of poetic justice has the Ravens winning this sunday, bringing up the 5th level of tiebreakers to claim the division title. The regular seasons ghosts are laid to rest in winning over Tenn and Indy to get to NY in the Superbowl.
