Terrell Suggs, where is he?

We've been very D-heavy these past few drafts and it showed. They were very good for the most part. Now we need to return the favor to the offense and solidify the offensive line - and hold on to Pitta if we can and he's healed.

I may be naive; but, Pitta really didn't do much to warrant a huge contract by any team, right? Like, the Ravens could essentially steal him on a 1-year contract for (roughly around) $3 million and see what he does in 2014, after a full off-season to recover, right?

Not to derail the thread, but I agree. Teams may be wary of the injury.

As we know, though, it only takes one team to give him more than the Ravens are willing. That's how we lost Ellerbe.

And, if the Ravens aren't willing to keep Joe Flacco's "security blanket"....then Pitta needs to jump on it!  Depending on the team of course!  lol!  Ellerbe went to Miami and had a very nice season.

Back on topic:

Suggs and Dumervil need to go home and really look in the mirror!  Those cats were MIA the last half of the season.  SMH!!

Perhaps we'll see Simon turn into a beast

I think we will. He played with more intensity in the preseason than Suggs did today... When the chips were down and we needed to get stuff done, Suggs disappeared. Simon's an effort guy with decent athleticism and good technique. He'll be a good player once he gets a chance.

Also, don't forget Adrian Hamilton (not that you did; rather, I did, lol) because he was impressive in the preseason as well. He could be a sleeper.

Adrian Hamilton is explosive. We need that. Suggs isn't strong enough any more to win on power rushes.

That's a lot of cap room. I think Canty is worth keeping though.

Yeah Canty only saves $1.8M. You won't find anyone to replace him for much cheaper. He's worth having around for another year.

Thats how I saw it as well, cutting him would save some $$ but for what he provides you would be hard pressed to find a player that could equal his play. He is a big man too , 6'7" 317lbs.

I hate the leadership talk but I do find it interesting how Suggs seemed to disappear on that front.

How is it that first year Raven Canty and second year Raven Ihedigbo took the leadership reins with gusto while Suggs retreated to the background?

My opinion, just from what I have gleaned second hand, I think Suggs is a solid "two" from a leadership standpoint. More of a complimentary guy. I think he is talented, emotional, and while he works hard, he takes care of his needs first--in kind of a selfish way. Gifted leadership is about meeting the needs of others too, and helping those around you to be their best. To the point, he hasn't evolved to that yet.

Also, seemed to me that his heart wasn't in it this year, I speculate that it was 1) missing his pilot in Ray Ray and 2) dissatisfaction with how the team was being micromanaged through all the "gifted" consultants on staff. You know how folks who voice that kind of displeasure are treated, especially given the "cap friendly" excuses used last year.

I do think he is going to be a cap casualty this year. Just hope he doesn't land in the AFCN.
