UFC Coming to Baltimore this April

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the East coast with UFC 172: "Jones vs. Teixeira" on April 14, 2014 live from Baltimore, Maryland on pay-per-view (PPV). The main event was announced Friday afternoon (Dec. 13, 2013) during a conference call.

The conference call was held to announce now former UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre's indefinite sabbatical from mixed martial arts. UFC President Dana White was also on the call to announce that the promotion will match Johny Hendricks up with Robbie Lawler for the now vacant UFC title at UFC 171 in Dallas at the American Airlines Arena.

Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira were originally tapped for the main event of the Dallas card, but was moved to UFC 172. It is the third time that the bout has been moved. UFC 172 is expected to take place at the Baltimore Arena, a 14,000 seat arena that served as the home for the Baltimore Bullets in the 1960s.

The UFC 172 main card will air on PPV. The undercard "prelims" will be shown on MMAMania.com and Fox Sports 1. No other bouts have been announced at this time.


For fans of MMA in Baltimore who have never been to an event, it really is a blast like a rock concert but way better if the fights match the crowd noise. I believe this fight is the first UFC event in Baltimore to ever be held probably because Jon Jones brother Arthur plays for the ravens and got some say in hosting a title event in his brothers adopted city.

It's a lot of fun, good luck trying to get food and drink and shirts though the lines there are huge. Anyone who goes eat before you go and if you want a shirt try get it during intermission or before the event starts. Me and my mate accidentally got into the vip area for free when we had crappy seats and no one in the box cared and we got free food and alcohol up there too.
