Matt Elam calls Megatron old

428 posts in this topic

Matt Elam should just Shut up for all our Sake.

He has no right to even start talking crap, dude cant tackle to save his life. He bounces right off WR. He has no power.

Why would you even say something like that, knowing this guy Balls out every game and makes  Matt Stafford look like a half decent QB.

Uh...
Patterson...

Elam explained that he was taking an angle because Patterson is so fast it looked like he was just going to sprint down the sideline and try to out run everybody. In the heavy snow like that the offensive player has a huge advantage because he knows where he's going to cut and the defender has to make a last second change of direction with awful footing. That's why Shady McCoy had a huge game last week, defenders couldn't handle his cuts in the snow. That play was on Webb and everybody who missed the initial tackle, can't get mad at Elam getting stuck in the open field with Patterson because of the poor tackling in those awful conditions.

Not a single safety in the NFL is stopping Patterson once he had a head of steam in the open field in those conditions. Even if Elam made it through the initial change of direction Patterson would've just weaved back the other direction again with all that room to run.

hahahahaha you mean the one where he was backpedling in the snow in open field by himself? Goodjob you named one. Get out of here, Patterson had the entire width of the field to make him miss, he had no help. No one on our team would've made that tackle.

No

You said name one notable one, that was notable.

Did I say it was an easy tackle? No

Elam is a guy who hasn't been wrapping up much and thus it leads to miss tackles here and there

He's not a liability, but he's not a sure tackler

Refer to my other reply

I wasn't saying it was an easy play at all
He told me to name a significant one

Anyone who watched Elam play for Florida knows he tends to go for the big hit a lot, leading to missed tackles
It's a known fact, happened a lot in the Pitt game I recall

Ho-hum.. media fodder for a half day

If Megatron has a big day and/or smokes Elam in the process, his "old" comment will be rehashed in the nightly highlights. If Megatron doesn't do much and/or Elam has a big day, his comments will be rehashed. Again, ho-hum.

It would be nice to see a little respect from the rookies. You don't hear the safeties from the Lions talking about how they can shut down Pitta because he's old.

Elam needs to worry about himself. So far he looks like he should of been a 5th round pick not a first! He can't cover because his arms are shorter then my 5 year old. Don't know why we took him in the first round. Now he is running his mouth. He will end up looking foolish. Megatron is not a man I'd want to get mad!

Why did the Ravens take him in the first round? Hmmm, I know! According to PFF, he ranks above all of the other first round safeties in run stop percentage, tackling efficiency, targets per coverage snap (Kenny Vacarro is actually like the fourth worst in the league at this), receptions per coverage snap, and second to only Eric Reid in yards per coverage snap. When looking at receptions per coverage snap, he actually ranks 15th overall, which is good for a player who has never played free safety before.

So, that's why the Ravens took him in the first round.

Matt Elam?

The one who folded like an envelope and allowed Cordarrelle Patterson to score a touchdown?

He needs to shut his mouth...he's ranked at the bottom of the barrel amongst safeties in the NFL.

Prove it on the field and quit with all the tough talk.  He's a youngin and needs to show some respect for one of the best if not THEE BEST wide receiver ever.

i don't like bum's who trash talk, no matter if they are on my team or not...

According to PFF, he's actually ranked 40th out of 84, so he's in the top half of the league, buddy...

Matt Elam(32 5/8")arms are longer than Tyrann Mathieu (31 1/8")aka the honey badger but that still didn't hold  Mathieu back from making plays and  to play solid before he was injuried.

He just doesnt have it. You can tell he isnt the brightest as well. He basically is the opposite of troy. I cracked up when dean pees at the press said after one reporter questioned elams height and he said "how tall is troy".

....rofl

You realize Elam is only an inch shorter than Troy, right?

I'm with you on those first 3 lines.Elam and Brown are my least favorite high picks in years. It's still too early to call him a bust though....

Are they least favorite because they haven't immediately stepped in and become Lewis and Reed in their primes?

Matt Elam said today "He's pretty old, so I don't know how physical he'll be," Elam said. "He's a big guy, but he's older." This worries me, lets hope Megatron doesn't see this. What do you guys think?

Kids (rookies) say the dumbest things.

Megatron is a different monster.Dez Bryant simply mentioned that he was on the same level as him and he went off for 14 catches 329 yards and a td.It was the second best receiving day in NFL history.

.... Look what Chicago did to Dallas defense... I think it happened to be more about the players on the field and not the mouth in the locker room ... Dallas has a HORRIBLE secondary with no pass rush. The problem with TRYing to be physical with Megatron is that if you miss the jam, he's running past you... None of our players really hit anyhow... Not with much authority

No,I hated them well before the season started. They're both undersized, have average speed and looked average in college.I still think Elam has a chance of becoming a decent starter at ss but I'm almost willing to gaurantee Brown will be a wasted pick. He's Tandon Doss 2.0.A fan favorite the will never live up to the draft pick we spent on him.I was right about Doss when everyone on here loved him and I'll be right again.

Honestly... people are chewing on Elam but he really isn't playing badly at all... He is giving us everything Ed Reed gave us last year... sacrifice holding on to an interception or two for finishing an extra tackle or two...

You can't make people happy, Elam really has been on his game.

Elam? On his game? Not even close. Always a few steps behind ... I try to cut him slack, but he hasn't been very good.... and certainly not a playmaker.
