Only reason I see why Bears/Eagles game makes any sense is that might be the game where Jay Cutler comes back.

Which is still a terrible reason to can our game @ primetime.

Jay Cutler was already named the starter for this week (week 15).

I can see why.  Eagles and Bears have two of the hottest offenses right now.  Both in playoff races.  Should be an exciting game which lacks a lot of defense (but isn't that what the populous wants?).

I sincerely hope this bites the NFL in the rear. I hope the Cowboys lose the next two games, the Packers win their next two and the Lions win next week after we beat then this week. If Chicago loses this week and the Eagles win in that scenario, this game will be virtually meaningless for the playoff picture.

Nope it just got meaning as the Cowboys lost and the Bears won..Good call for the NFL.

Actually, if the Cowboys win Next Sunday, the game is virtually meaningless for the Eagles. The division will come down to Week 17 either way.

Duh, the Eagles still need to win though...

They won't need to beat the Bears if the Cowboys beat the Redskins.  Whether they beat the Bears or not, the division will be on the line in week 17 if DAL beats WSH next week.  PHI is 8-6, DAL is 7-7.  If they finish with the same record, the Cowboys get the tiebreaker no matter what.

true but the Eagles Bears game is now huge because the Eagles and Cowboys lost today and the Packers won.

It will mean something for the Bears, no doubt, but if the Eagles play it like a preseason game and take out their starters, that's not a great game to showcase. If the Cowboys win Sunday, then the NFL will have screwed up with this decision.

Market size is real with Baltimore. The Ravens are boxed in by its bigger neighbors to the north and south in D.C. and Philly (which includes Cecil County and Delaware). Its also boxed in by Pittsburgh to the west, including Western Maryland.

Where the Colts and Johnny U not big time? Lol...Market did not affect them.
Now LA lost two teams and you'd think it would be a big market for football because of size.

We will have to agree to disagree because NY Giants get less coverage than the redskins. It's all about drama and having an entertaining QB. Elam had to say something wild to get us in the media and segments on NFL shows. If Flacco said he was going to drop 400yrds on a team we would be big market for that week.

You're right that it's about having an entertaining QB.  Someone the media can hang a hat on, anyway.

Johnny U was a remarkable player who revolutionized the game in many ways and he was winning a lot of league MVP awards (three between '59 and '67) and NFL championships ('58, '59, and '68, not to mention a Super Bowl in '70).

When you have that kind of impact and success you're going to get national attention and appreciation outside of your own market.

And beyond that, there's also this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Largest_cities_in_the_United_States_by_population_by_decade#1960

Baltimore was a much bigger city (both in actual size and in terms of ranking against other cities) in Unitas' day than it is now.

As annoying as this is, it kind of works out for the viewing party that I'm throwing on Sunday.  My priest is a die-hard Pats fan and I'm a Ravens fan, so we've turned it into a big tailgaing and rivalry party at the meeting hall at church.

First of all, I'm getting nervous that my cable guide still lists the Packers-Steelers game as the late CBS game.  That better change.

Second of all, if we win tonight this game becomes almost as important for the Patriots as us.  Almost.  This is especially true if the Dolphins win again.

This is true.  Although unlikely, since a lot would have to play out, it is possible that the Pats miss out on the playoffs.  They need at least one win to put them through if some things shake out how I think they will.  If it doesn't come against us, the pressure is on in week 17.  Even though it's the Bills, you can't discount them.

I actually think being flexed out of SNF works out for the team. It sucks for the fans but it works for the team. I'd rather have a earlier game and keep our guys on a regular schedule going into what might be a Championship game with the Bengals. Instead of having those guys play until 12Midnight and being thrown out their Monday schedule.

Also I think it's pretty safe to say if the Ravens take care business tonight and next week, then that Bengals/Ravens game will be pushed back to 4:25 in hopes of attracting a larger viewing.

If the Cowboys and Packers win and the Lions lose, this game is meaningless for both teams.  They will both be playing for their division or nothing in Week 17 in that scenario, regardless of the outcome of this "flexed" Sunday night game.

My cable guide still says I'm getting the Steelers-Packers game on CBS at 4:25.  I'm starting to get pretty ticked off about all this.  At least I'll get to watch what could turn out to be a glorified preseason game on Sunday night, which is a game I would have had on TV regardless being in Philly.  C'mon, CBS, I thought changing your 4:25 game was the whole point of this switch to begin with!

If you're in Philly, you are probably going to get the Steelers' game. Just like because I am in Pitt, Fox usually gives me the Eagles' games no matter what the National game is.

I'm pretty ticked that now I will not get my Ravens on TV here.

Here's a coverage map to see which game you'll get:

It looks like the two of you in Pennsylvania are stuck watching Pittsburgh-Green Bay.

I just checked our schedule on Philly channels last night and can't believe we will be fed slop, low meaning Steelers & Packers game.  Ugh.  May have to sit in my car and listen to Ravens on Sirius channel.
